Industry decarbonization requires the development of highly efficient and flexible technologies relying on renewable energy resources,especially biomass and solar/wind *** the case of pure oxygen production,oxygen transport membranes(OTms)appear as an alternative technology for the cryogenic distillation of air,the industrially-established process of producing ***,OTms could provide oxygen from different sources(air,water,CO_(2),etc.),and they are more flexible in adapting to current processes,producing oxygen at 700^(-1)000℃.Furthermore,OTms can be integrated into catalytic membrane reactors,providing new pathways for different *** first part of this study was focused on electrification on a traditional OTm material(Ba_(0.5)sr_(0.5)Co_(0.8)Fe_(0.2)O_(3-δ)),imposing different electric currents/voltages along a capillary *** to the emerging joule effect,the membrane-surface temperature and the associated O_(2) permeation flux could be ***,the OTm is electrically and locally heated and reaches 900℃on the surface,whereas the surrounding of the membrane was maintained at 650℃.The O_(2)permeation flux reached for the electrified membranes was~3.7 Nml min^(-1)cm^(-2),corresponding to the flux obtained with an OTm non-electrified at 900℃.The influence of depositing a porous Ce_(0.8)Tb_(0.2)O_(2-δ) catalytic/protective layer on the outer membrane surface revealed that lower surface temperatures(830℃)were detected at the same imposed electric ***,the electrification concept was demonstrated in a catalytic membrane reactor(CmR)where the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane(ODHE)was carried *** reaction is very sensitive to temperature,and here,we demonstrate an improvement of the ethylene yield by reaching moderate temperatures in the reaction chamber while the O_(2) injection into the reaction can be easily fine-tuned.

Existence and Uniqueness of Fixed Point in Partially Ordered sets and Applications to Ordinary Differential Equations

We prove some fixed point theorems in partially ordered sets, providing an extension of the Banach contractive mapping theorem. Having studied previously the nondecreasing case, we consider in this paper nonincreasing mappings as well as non monotone mappings. We also present some applications to first-order ordinary differential equations with periodic boundary conditions, proving the existence of a unique solution admitting the existence of a lower solution.

This work explores the potential of a triple combination of meropenem(mEm),a novel metallo-blactamase(mBl)inhibitor(indole-2-carboxylate 58(InC58)),and a serine-b-lactamase(sBl)inhibitor(avibactam(AVI))for broad-spectrum activity against carbapenemase-producing bacteria.A diverse panel comprising mBl-and sBl-producing strains was used for susceptibility testing of the triple combination using the agar dilution *** frequency of resistance(FoR)to mEm combined with InC58 was *** were sequenced and tested for cross resistance,fitness,and the stability of the resistance *** with the double combinations of mEm plus an sBl or mBl inhibitor,the triple combination extended the spectrum of activity to most of the isolates bearing sBls(oxacillinase-48(OXA-48)and Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase-2(KPC-2))and mBls(New Delhi metallo-blactamases(NDms)),although it was not effective against Verona integron-encoded metallo-blactamase(VIm)-carrying Pseudomonas aeruginosa(***)and OXA-23-carrying Acinetobacter baumannii(***).The FoR to mEm plus InC58 ranged from 2.22×10^(-7)to 1.13×10^(-6).The resistance correlated with mutations to ompC and comR,affecting porin C and copper permeability,*** mutants manifested a fitness cost,a decreased level of resistance during passage without antibiotic pressure,and cross resistance to another carbapenem(imipenem)and a b-lactamase inhibitor(taniborbactam).In conclusion,compared with the dual combinations,the triple combination of mEm with InC58 and AVI showed a much wider spectrum of activity against different carbapenemaseproducing bacteria,revealing a new strategy to combat b-lactamase-mediated antimicrobial resistance.

Control systems governed by linear time-invariant neutral equations with different fractional orders are considered. sufficient and necessary conditions for the controllability of those systems are established. The existence of optimal controls for the systems is given. Finally, two examples are provided to show the application of our results.

The differential cross section for an electron Raman scattering process in a semiconductor GaAs/AlGaAs double quantum well wire is calculated,and expressions for the electronic states are *** system is modeled by considering T = 0 K and also with a single parabolic conduction band,which is split into a subband system due to the *** gain and differential cross-section for an electron Raman scattering process are *** addition,the emission spectra for several scattering configurations are discussed,and interpretations of the singularities found in the spectra are *** electron Raman scattering studied here can be used to provide direct information about the efficiency of the lasers.

modified activated carbon with interconnected fibrils of iron-oxyhydroxides using mn^(2+) as morphology regulator, for a superior arsenic removal from water

The arsenic removal efficiency of iron-modified activated carbons depends greatly on the number of available iron oxide surface sites, which are given by the surface area of the anchored particles. In this sense, aiming the generation of an adsorbent with superior arsenic adsorption capacity, we developed a protocol to anchor interconnected fibrils of iron oxyhydroxides, using mn^(2+) as a morphology regulator. The protocol was based on a microwave-assisted hydrothermal method, using bituminous based activated carbon and both Fe^(2+) and mn^(2+) ions in the hydrolysis solution. The elemental analysis of modified carbons revealed that mn does not anchor to the carbon. However, when mn is included in the hydrolysis solution, the iron content in the activated carbon increased up to 3.5 wt%,without considerable decreasing the adsorbent surface area. Under specific hydrothermal conditions, the mn^(2+) promoted the formation of iron oxide nanoparticles shaped as interconnected fibrils. This material showed a superior arsenic adsorption capacity in comparison to similar iron modified activated carbons(5 mg As/g carbon, at 2 mg As/l),attributed to the increase in quantity and availability of active sites located on the novel interconnected fibrils of iron oxyhydroxides nanostructures.

We study the electron states and the differential cross section for an electron Raman scattering process in a semi- conductor quantum well wire of cylindrical ring geometry. The electron Raman scattering developed here can be used to provide direct information about the electron band structures of these confinement systems. We assume that the system grows in a GaAs/Al0.35Ga0.65As matrix. The system is modeled by considering T = 0 K and also a single parabolic con- duction band, which is split into a sub-band system due to the confinement. The emission spectra are discussed for different scattering configurations, and the selection rules for the processes are also studied. singularities in the spectra are found and interpreted.

In this paper, we study a boundary value problem of nonlinear fractional dif- ferential equations of order q （1 〈 q 〈 2） with non-separated integral boundary conditions. some new existence and uniqueness results are obtained by using some standard fixed point theorems and leray-schauder degree theory. some illustrative examples are also presented. We extend previous results even in the integer case q = 2.

The number of alignments between two DNA sequences

We consider two DNA sequences and compare both sequences. One of the crucial issues in bioinformatics is to measure the similarity of two DNA sequences. To this purpose one has to consider different alignments between both sequences. The number of alignments grows very rapidly with the length of the sequences. In this paper we give exact, explicit and computable formulas for the number of different possible alignments and for some classes of reduced alignments. We provide a new insight into the theory of DNA sequence alignment.
