Many studies propose a significant shift in the tectonic and paleogeographic evolution of the Andes in south-central Chile and Argentina during the Late *** has been proposed that the preceding jurassic-Early Cretaceous extensional regime that resulted in a low-relief volcanic arc and the backarc Neuquén basin came to an end,giving way to shortening and Andean growth from the Late Cretaceous ***,there are disagreements regarding the timing and nature of this transition to Andean *** address these issues,we conducted geochronologic(U-pb and^(40)Ar/&(39)Ar),sedimentologic,and structural studies on Mesozoic-Cenozoic sedimentary and volcanic rocks in the Río Maule area(principal Cordillera,Chile,36°s).From our findings and prior analyses,we propose the following tectono-stratigraphic evolution of the region.(1)Marine deposition of the Tithonian-Hauterivian Baños del Flaco Formation took place in an extensional backarc basin.(2)After a~40 Myr hiatus,fluvial deposits of the Colimapu Formation and volcanic rocks of the plan de los Yeuques Formation accumulated during the *** the Colimapu Formation displays evidence of syndepositional shortening,the plan de los Yeuques Formation exhibits synextensional growth *** to other studies,our results suggest that the Chilean part of the principal Cordillera was largely a zone of active deposition rather than an elevated fold-thrust belt during the Late *** propose that sedimentation occurred within a series of relatively stable intermontane subbasins generated by shortening,followed by extension.(3)After a~20 Myr hiatus,middle Eocene to early Miocene(Lutetian-Aquitanian)accumulation of a thick succession of andesitic lavas and minor clastic sediments of the Abanico Formation occurred in an intraarc extensional basin.(4)Finally,major shortening and uplift of previously deposited Mesozoic-Cenozoic rocks took place throughout the *** phase constitu

Hepatitis C virus Ns5A region mutation in chronic hepatitis C genotype 1 patients who are non-responders to two or more treatments and its relationship with response to a new treatment

To determine the number of mutations in the Ns5A region of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) and its relationship to the response to antiviral therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis C genotype 1 who are non-responders to two or more treatments. METHODssequences within HCV Ns5A [pKR binding domain (pKRBD) and the interferon-sensitivity-determining region (IsDR)] were analysed via direct sequencing in a selected cohort of 72 patients, with a total of 201 treatments [interferon-alpha (IFN-α), n = 49; IFN-α + ribavirin (RBV), n = 75; pegylated (peg) IFN-α + RBV, n = 47; first-generation direct-acting antivirals (DAAs), n = 13; and second-generation DAAs, n = 17]. Of these, 48/201 achieved a sustained virological response (sVR) and 153/201 achieved no virological response (NVR). REsULTsFor both regions, treatments resulting in sVR were associated with more baseline mutations than were treatments resulting in NVR (sVR vs NVR; pKRBD: 5.82 ± 3 vs 4.86 ± 2 mutations, p = 0.045; IsDR: 2.65 ± 2 vs 1.51 ± 1.7 mutations, p = 0.005). A decrease or no change in the number of mutations over time between treatments in the pKRBD or IsDR, as shown by sequencing, was associated with patients who usually failed to respond to treatment (pKRBD, p = 0.02; IsDR, p = 0.001). Moreover, patients showing a post-treatment baseline viral load > 600000 IU/mL and increased IsDR mutations with respect to the previous treatment were 9.21 times more likely to achieve sVR (p = 0.001). CONCLUsIONThe obtained results show that among patients who have shown no response to two or more antiviral treatments, the likelihood of achieving sVR increases with the genetic variability in the IsDR region (≥ 2 mutations or number of substitutions from the HCV-j and HCV-1 prototype), especially when the viral load is greater than 600000 IU/mL.

BACKGROUND The influence of Helicobacter-pylori(***)infection and the characteristics of gastric cancer(GC)on tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte(TIL)levels has not been extensively *** of infiltrating-immune-cell subtypes as well as survival is necessary to obtain comprehensive *** To determine the rates of deficient mismatch-repair(dMMR),HER2-status and *** infection and their association with TIL levels in *** samples from 503 resected GC tumors were included and TIL levels were evaluated following the international-TILs-working-group recommendations with assessment of the intratumoral(IT),stromal(sT)and invasive-border(IB)*** density of CD3,CD8 and CD163 immune cells,and dMMR and HER2-status were determined by immunohistochemistry(IHC).*** infection was evaluated by routine histology and quantitative pCR(qpCR)in a subset of *** dMMR was found in 34.4%,HER2+in 5%and ***-positive in 55.7%of *** IT-TIL was associated with grade-3(p=0.038),while sT-TIL with grade-1(pstinal-histology(pp=0.003).dMMR was associated with high TIL levels in the sT(p=0.019)and IB(p=0.01)compartments,and sTCD3(p=0.049)and sT-CD8(p=0.05)***2-was associated with high IT-CD8(p=0.009).*** was associated with high IT-TIL levels(p=0.009)when assessed by routine-histology,and with high TIL levels in the 3 compartments(p=0.002-0.047)and CD8 density in the IT and sT compartments(p=0.001)when assessed by qpCR.A longer overall survival was associated with low IT-CD163(p=0.003)and CD8/CD3(p=0.001 in IT and p=0.002 in sT)and high IT-CD3(p=0.021),sT-CD3(p=0.003)and CD3/CD163(p=0.002).CONCLUsION TIL levels were related to dMMR and *** CD8/CD3 and high CD163/CD3 were associated with lower recurrence and longer survival.

This work presented the feasibility of cerium recovery by Al-Mg alloy through the metallothermic reduction of CeO2 to obtain a master alloy Al-4%Ce. The master alloy obtained in this investigation was for the grain refinement and modification of Al-si alloys. The reagent was incorporated into a molten alloy using the submerged powder injection technique, and metallic samples were obtained during injection. Chemical and microstructural analyses （by inductively coupled plasma （ICp） and scanning electron microscopy （sEM）, respectively） confirmed the possibility of Ce uptake in the bath （0 to 4 wt.%）, as CeO2 was reduced through metallothermic reactions in the molten alloys. Based on the characterization of reaction products, the sequence of the reaction was proposed.

In the search of lead-free piezoelectric materials,ceramic processing techniques offer potential tools to increase the piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties in addition to new chemical *** of pure BNKT16(Bi0.5(Na0.84K0.16)0.5TiO3)phase were synthesized by sol–gel method with a low crystallization temperature(750℃).Ceramic samples were sintered by pressureless sintering(pLs),sinter-forging(sF),and spark plasma sintering(sps)***,morphological,and chemical characterizations were performed by XRD,Raman,EDs,and *** samples by pLs and sF exhibit rod-like grains associated to bismuth *** highest remanent polarization(11.05μC/cm2),coercive field(26.2 kV/mm),and piezoelectric coefficient(165 pC/N)were obtained for sF *** piezoresponse force microscopy(pFM)analysis shows that the crystallites at the nanoscale exhibit piezoelectric phenomenon and the highest piezoelectric response is reported for pLs *** presence of the rhombohedral phase,the increase in grain and crystallite size,and the oriented rod-like inclusions favoring the crystallographic texture are facts that enhance the piezoelectric coefficient for BNKT16 piezoceramics.

The production of biomass pellets and briquettes from agroforestry residues has increased rapidly in recent years. The design of machines, equipment and the infrastructure necessary for the handling, trans port and storage of these products has been an engineering challenge since, when moving, biomass does not usually flow as easily as other granular materials. The discrete element method （DEM） provides a means of studying the handling and silo discharge behaviour of granular solids as well as the distribution of the pressures exerted by such materials in silos. However, the development of such models requires certain properties of the particles in question to be known. The present work experimentally determines the true density, Young＇s modulus of elasticity （axial and radial）, the particleparticle restitution coeffi cient and the particlewall friction coefficientall variables that must be known in the construction of DEM modelsfor briquettes made from maize stalk, maize stalk plus pine wood chips, rice husk, vine shoots, raoe straw, cereal straw and sawdust olus cereal straw.

secondary male hypogonadism： a prevalent but overlooked comorbidity of obesity

Male hypogonadism associated with obesity is a very prevalent condition and is increasing in parallel with the epidemic prevalence of obesity. Low testosterone levels promote higher fat mass with reduced lean mass. Male hypogonadism is related to an increase in associated cardiometabolic complications, such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, the metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular disease. Its influence as a comorbidity of obesity is becoming more evident and should be evaluated and treated in at-risk patients. Mechanisms involved in this relationship include body composition changes, the presence of adipokines, insulin resistance, and other factors, some of which are still unknown. Weight loss and treatment to replace testosterone levels improve the metabolic profile and quality of life in patients with obesity and hypogonadism; these beneficial effects depend on treatment modality and duration of therapy. The use of testosterone replacement therapy may be indicated, as it has not been shown to increase cardiovascular risk, and retrospective studies suggest a reduction in events in men with metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.
