BACKGROUND Although breast milk is ideal for newborns,in some cases,it is replaced with cow’s milk,which contains proteins that increase the risk of cow’s milk protein allergy(CmPA).AIm To evaluate CmPA prevalence in Bahrain and compare clinical characteristics of children with immunoglobulin E(IgE)-and non-IgE-mediated *** This retrospective cohort study examined children with CmPA diagnosed at the pediatric gastroenterology outpatient clinic of the salmaniya medical Complex,Bahrain,between 2014 and 2022,and assessed CmPA *** presentations,laboratory findings,dietary modifications,and outcomes were compared between children with IgE-mediated and non-IgE-mediated *** variables were compared using Fisher’s exact test or Pearson’sχ2 test,whereas continuous variables were compared using student’s t-test or the mann-Whitney U *** Of 8332 patients,6022(72.3%)adhered to their *** them,618(10.3%)were suggested of having CmPA and 595(96.3%)were included;CmPA prevalence was 2%.most patients were Bahraini(93.8%)and males(55.3%).Non-IgE-mediated type accounted for 77.3%cases and IgE-mediated type,22.7%.IgE-mediated CmPA presented more in boys(P=0.030),and later in life(5.1 months±4.5 months vs 4.2 months±4.2 months,P=0.016,95%CI:0.08-1.73),had more associated diseases(Psented with more cutaneous(P=0.024)and respiratory(P=0.003)manifestations,severe symptoms[rash/dry skin(P=0.031),facial swelling/angioedema(P=0.003),failure to thrive(P=0.013),apparent life-threatening event(Psitive physical findings(P=0.002)than non-IgE-mediated *** patients were exclusively fed cow milk formula(50.3%).The amino acid-based formula(AAF)was most prescribed(60.5%)with no difference between the two types(P=0.173).Although breastfeeding was recommended to 49.6%,only 8.2%were exclusively ***-mediated CmPA was associated with a longer follow-up duration than non-IgE-mediated CmPA(17.3 months±14.0 mo

Graphene nanoplatelets(GNPs)have attracted tremendous interest due to their unique properties and bonding *** study focuses on the effect of GNP dispersion on the mechanical,thermal,and morphological behavior of GNP/epoxy *** study aims to understand how the dispersion of GNPs affects the properties of epoxy nanocomposite and to identify the best dispersion approach for improving mechanical performance.A solvent mixing technique that includes mechanical stirring and ultrasonication was used for producing the *** transform infrared spectroscopy was used to investigate the interaction between GNPs and the epoxy *** measurements of density and moisture content were used to confirm that GNPs were successfully incorporated into the *** findings showed that GNPs are successfully dispersed in the epoxy matrix by combining mechanical stirring and ultrasonication in a single step,producing well-dispersed nanocomposites with improved mechanical ***,the nanocomposites at a low GNP loading of 0.1 wt%,demonstrate superior mechanical strength,as shown by increased tensile properties,including improved Young's modulus(1.86 GPa),strength(57.31 mPa),and elongation at break(4.98).The nanocomposite with 0.25 wt%GNP loading performs better,according to the viscoelastic analysis and flexural properties(113.18 mPa).Except for the nanocomposite with a 0.5 wt%GNP loading,which has a higher thermal breakdown temperature,the thermal characteristics do not significantly *** effective dispersion of GNPs in the epoxy matrix and low agglomeration is confirmed by the morphological *** findings help with filler selection and identifying the best dispersion approach,which improves mechanical *** effective integration of GNPs and their interaction with the epoxy matrix provides the doorway for additional investigation and the development of sophisticated *** fiel

The age at which a woman enters natural menopause has also been associated to death from any cause. menopause is a natural component of aging that happens between the ages of 45 and 55, with the average menopausal age being 51. Previous research has revealed the age at which women reach menopause, but there is no evidence to support the link between menopause and longevity. We made a study in assessing the limits of maximum lifespan at menopausal age in our previous article. In this paper, we aim to predict the maximum lifespan of women at mean menopausal age.

spinal cord injuries have profound detrimental effects on individuals, regardless of whether they are caused by trauma or non-traumatic events. The compromised regeneration of the spinal cord is primarily attributed to damaged neurons, inhibitory molecules, dysfunctional immune response, and glial scarring. Unfortunately, currently, there are no effective treatments available that can fully repair the spinal cord and improve functional outcomes. Nevertheless, numerous pre-clinical approaches have been studied for spinal cord injury recovery, including using biomaterials, cells, drugs, or technological-based strategies. Combinatorial treatments, which target various aspects of spinal cord injury pathophysiology, have been extensively tested in the last decade. These approaches aim to synergistically enhance repair processes by addressing various obstacles faced during spinal cord regeneration. Thus, this review intends to provide scientists and clinicians with an overview of pre-clinical combinatorial approaches that have been developed toward the solution of spinal cord regeneration as well as update the current knowledge about spinal cord injury pathophysiology with an emphasis on the current clinical management.

Cuba has been leading marine protected area(mPA)designation in the Caribbean region to ensure conservation of its valuable marine ***,an efficient monitoring program for mPAs is still to be implemented and will benefit from pre-existing *** highly regulated mPA of Punta Francés National Park is one of the first Cuban mPAs and was established mainly to protect species and ecosystems for tourism *** of protection effects on commercial fish species was lacking in this *** study aimed at increasing local scientific knowledge by providing a baseline study about the most commercially fished families(Haemulidae,Lutjanidae and serranidae)around Punta Francés *** collected represent only a limited period but can be used as a base point to support future *** abundance in number and biomass,and size were collected to test for differences between inside and adjacent areas outside the Punta Francés mPA,in different coral reef *** main result of this study was the significantly larger size and biomass of snappers and groupers outside the mPA where intense fisheries *** observation consistent with a large spawning aggregation was also recorded outside the *** with a limited set of data,these results suggest that,at least temporarily,the most targeted species[and sizes]are still highly vulnerable to *** habitats in the adjacent area,that are apparently missing within the mPA,may support some of the results *** the limits of the Punta Francés mPA to include those habitats outside may be critical to ensure the effectiveness of this mPA in contributing to protect the most commercial species of the *** should be done together with efficient fisheries management measures in the region,such as the significantly increase of minimum legal sizes and temporal closures during spawning migrations.
