In situ strength profiles along two adjacent vertical drillholes from digitalization of hydraulic rotary drilling

Drilling speed and associated analyses from factual field data of hydraulic rotary drilling have not been fully *** paper provides the reference and comparison for the utilization of drilling information from two adjacent vertical drillholes that were formed with the same hydraulic rotary drilling machine and *** analysis of original factual data is presented to obtain the constant drilling speed during net drilling *** to the factual data along two adjacent drillholes,the digitalization results respectively include 461 linear zones and 210 linear zones with their constant drilling speeds and associated drilling *** digitalization results can accurately present the spatial distributions and interface boundaries of drilled geomaterials and the results are consistent with the paralleled site *** weighted average drilling speeds from 2.335 m/min to 0.044 m/min represent 13 types of drilled geomaterials from soils to hard *** quantitative relation between drilling speed and strength property is *** digitalization results can statistically profile the basic strength quality grades of III to VI from soils to hard *** thickness distributions of four strength quality grades are presented for each individual type of geomaterials along two *** total,50.2%of geomaterials from drillhole A are grade IV and 57.4%of geomaterials from drillhole B are grade *** digitalization results can offer an accurate and cost-effective tool to quantitatively describe the spatial distribution and in situ strength profile of drilled geomaterials in the current drilling projects.

Interest in lanthanide complexes in the synthetic clays remains growing considerably during the last decades because of the attractive features of the individuals. Synthetic clays like Laponite~? and Aminoclay show great potentials in building up the luminescent hybrid materials due to their obvious advantages such as high purity, high dispersibility(or solubility) in water to yield translucent gels and clear aqueous solution. Additionally, their strong adsorption capacity for non-polar molecules or complexes is favorable to the formation of water-soluble and aqueous processable luminescent materials. This feature article summarizes the latest developments in the design and preparation of highly luminescent organicinorganic hybrid materials with excellent aqueous process ability based on lanthanide complexes intercalated synthetic clays.

Costa first constructed a family of complete minimal surfaces which have genus1 and 4 planar ends by use of Weierstrass-■*** are Willmore tori of Willmore energy 16π.In this paper,the authors consider the geometry of conjugate surfaces of these *** turns out that these conjugate surfaces are doubly periodic minimal surfaces with flat ends in ***,the authors can also perform a Lorentzian deformation on these Costa’s minimal tori,which produce a family of complete space-like stationary surfaces （i.e.,of zero mean curvature） with genus 1 and 4 planar ends in 4-dimensional Lorentz-Minkowski space R1～4.

A multi-model assessment of climate change damage in China and the world

Quantifying climate damage is essential to informing rational climate policies,but only a few studies have systematically compared the climate damage estimates made by different models,especially for *** this study,we used three widely applied integrated assessment models-FUnD,RICE,and PAGE-to estimate the damage under coupled shared socioeconomic pathways and representative concentration pathways(RCPs).Results show that the costs of climate damage constitute approximately 1.5%and 0.7%of China's GDP and global GDP per 1℃ temperature rise on average,*** can reduce climate risk by lowering the average estimate and worst-case effects of climate *** with business-as-usual emissions(RCP8.5),the 2℃ target will reduce the average estimate of climate damage for China and the world by 93%and 87%,respectively,and by 80%and 84%,respectively,in the worst-case *** analysis of climate damage highlights the inconsistency of sector scope and significant parameter uncertainties in damage modules,requiring further improvement to integrate subfield research advances,particularly for damage related to rising sea levels and cooling energy demand.

The creation of carbonaceous nanoparticles and their dynamics in hydrocarbon flames are still debated in environmental,combustion,and material *** this study,we introduce single-pulse femtosecond laser sheetcompressed ultrafast photography(fsLS-CUP),an ultrafast imaging technique specifically designed to shed light on and capture ultrafast dynamics stemming from interactions between femtosecond lasers and nanoparticles in flames in a ***-CUP enables the first-time real-time billion frames-per-second(Gfps)simultaneous twodimensional(2D)imaging of laser-induced fluorescence(LIF)and laser-induced heating(LIH)that are originated from polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)and soot particles,***,fsLS-CUP provides the real-time spatiotemporal map of femtosecond laser-soot interaction as elastic light scattering(ELS)at an astonishing 250 *** contrast to existing single-shot ultrafast imaging approaches,which are limited to millions of frames per second only and require multiple laser pulses,our method employs only a single pulse and captures the entire dynamics of laserinduced signals at hundreds of *** a single pulse does not change the optical properties of nanoparticles for a following pulse,thus allowing reliable spatiotemporal ***,we found that particle inception and growth are derived from *** essence,as an imaging modality,fsLS-CUP offers ultrafast 2D diagnostics,contributing to the fundamental understanding of nanoparticle’s inception and broader applications across different fields,such as material science and biomedical engineering.

MIL-101(Fe)-nH_(2)@Al_(2)O_(3)(MA)catalysts were successfully synthesized by reactive seeding(RS)method onα-Al_(2)O_(3)substrate,which demonstrated excellent photo-Fenton degradation performance toward fluoroquinolone antibiotics(i.e.,norfloxacin,ciprofloxacin,and enrofloxacin).The structure and morphology of the obtained MA were characterized by transmission electron microscopy(TEM),high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM),atomic force microscope(AFM).The as-prepared MA could accomplish>90%of norfloxacin degradation efficiency for 10 cycles’photo-Fenton processes,owing to its excellent chemical and water *** addition,the effects of operational factors including H_(2)O_(2)concentration,foreign ions,and pH on the photo-Fenton degradation of norfloxacin over MA were *** ESR spectra further document that^(•)O_(2)^(−),1O_(2)and•OH radicals are prominent in the decomposition process of antibiotic ***,the plausible photo-Fenton norfloxacin degradation mechanisms were proposed and verified.

Comparison of the water change characteristics between the formation and dissociation of methane hydrate and the freezing and thawing of ice in sand

Hydrate formation and dissociation processes are always accompanied by water migration in porous media, which is similar to the ice. In our study, a novel pF-meter sensor which could detect the changes of water content inside sand was first applied to hydrate formation and dissociation processes. It also can study the water change characteristics in the core scale of a partially saturated silica sand sample and compare the differences of water changes between the processes of formation and dissociation of methane hydrate and freezing and thawing of ice. The experimental results showed that the water changes in the processes of formation and dissociation of methane hydrate were basically similar to that of the freezing and thawing of ice in sand. When methane hydrate or ice was formed, water changes showed the decrease in water content on the whole and the pF values rose following the formation processes. However, there were very obvious differences between the ice thawing and hydrate dissociation.

In this paper, model checking problem is considered for general linear model when covariables are measured with error and an independent validation data set is available, Without assuming any error model structure between the true variable and the surrogate variable, the author first apply nonparametric method to model the relationship between the true variable and the surrogate variable with the help of the validation sample. Then the author construct a score-type test statistic through model adjustment. The large sample behaviors of the score-type test statistic are investigated. It is shown that the test is consistent and can detect the alternative hypothesis close to the null hypothesis at the rate n^-r with 0 ≤ r ≤1/2. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method works well. Key words General linear model, measurement error, model checking, validation data.

Removal Mechanism of Aqueous Lead by a novel Eco-material: Carbonate Hydroxyapatite

Kinetics and mechanisms on the removal of aqueous lead ion by carbonate hydroxyapatite （CHap） are investigated in the present work. Experimental results show that, in the whole pH range, the lead removal percentage increases with decreasing pH values and reaches a maximum at pH=2-3. Under some conditions, the lead residual concentration is below national integrated wastewater discharge standard, even drinking water standard. The removal behavior is a complicated non-homogeneous solid/liquid reaction, which can be described by two stages from kinetic point of view. At the earlier stage, reaction rate is so fast that its kinetic course is intricate, which requires further study. At the latter stage, the rate of reaction becomes slow and the process of reaction accords with one order reaction kinetic equation. Experimental results show that the relationship between reaction rate constant k1 and temperature T accords to Arrhenius Equation, and the activation energy of sorption （Ea） is 11.93 kj/mol and frequency factor （A） is 2.51 s^-1. X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy with an energy dispersive X-ray fluoresence spectrometer （SEM-EDS） and toxicity characteristic leaching procedure （TCLP） test were conducted in this work. It is indicated that the main mechanism is dissolution-precipitation, accompanying with superficial sorption.

Improved H-infinity channel estimator based on EM for MIMO-OFDM systems

H-infinity estimator is generally implemented in timevariant state-space models, but it leads to high complexity when the model is used for multiple input multiple output with orthogo- hal frequency division multiplexing （MIMO-OFDM） systems. Thus, an H-infinity estimator over time-invariant system models is pro- posed, which modifies the Krein space accordingly. In order to avoid the large matrix inversion and multiplication required in each OFDM symbol from different transmit antennas, expectation maximization （EM） is developed to reduce the high computational load. joint estimation over multiple OFDM symbols is used to resist the high pilot overhead generated by the increasing number of transmit antennas. Finally, the performance of the proposed estimator is enhanced via an angle-domain process. Through performance analysis and simulation experiments, it is indicated that the pro- posed algorithm has a better mean square error （MSE） and bit error rate （BER） performance than the optimal least square （LS） estimator. joint estimation over multiple OFDM symbols can not only reduce the pilot overhead but also promote the channel performance. What is more, an obvious improvement can be obtained by using the angle-domain filter.
