Night sky cooling is explored as an alternative to the conventional cooling technologies using fossil fuels. The night sky cooling method is based on the long wave radiation of unglazed collectors to the sky at night. An evaluation of the night sky cooling system is present for a residential building in three cities of Australia, namely Alice Springs, Darwin and melbourne. The system comprises an unglazed flat plate solar collector integrated with borehole storage. It uses night sky radiation to reduce the temperature of the ground near to the boreholes. The system was simulated with TRNSYS, a transient simulation program. The simulation results for adequately sized systems show that night sky radiation is able to reduce the coolth storage borehole temperature and the proposed system is able to meet the cooling load of the residential building simulated in three locations. Borchole lengths of 270, 318 and 106 m are required for coolth storage with 90, 260 and 14 m2 collector area for heat rejection in Alice Springs, Darwin and melbourne, respectively. At the 20th simulation year, the proposed system is able to achieve a system cooling coefficient of performance of 2.2 in Alice Springs, and 2.8 in Darwin and melbourne.

Background:Two experiments were conducted to determine the effects of increasing amounts of soybean meal(SBm)in swine diets and estimate the energy value of ***:A total of 2233 pigs(PIC 337×1050,Hendersonville,TN)and 3796 pigs(PIC 359×C40),initially 11.0 kg and 17.6 kg body weight(BW),were used in Exp.1 and 2,*** Exp.1,pigs were placed in 92 pens each containing 20 to 27 *** Exp.2,pigs were placed in 84 pens each containing 37 to 43 *** were assigned in a randomized complete block design with BW as the blocking *** treatments consisted of 21%,27%,33%,or 39%SBm in Exp.1 and 17.5%,22%,26.5%,31%,35.5%,or 40%SBm in Exp.2,obtained by changing the inclusion rate of feed-grade amino acids and corn *** Exp.1,representative samples of corn grain,SBm,and distillers dried grains with solubles were analyzed for total AA content prior to diet *** Exp.2,diets were formulated using NRC(2012)nutrient *** diets were fed for 21 and 22 d(Exp.1 and 2)and there were 23 replicates in Exp.1 and 14 replicates in *** were weighed and feed disappearance measured weekly to calculate average daily gain(ADG),average daily feed intake(ADFI),gain-to-feed ratio(G:F),and caloric efficiency(CE).Data were analyzed with block as a random effect and treatment as a fixed effect,and contrasts were constructed to test the linear and quadratic effects of increasing ***:In Exp.1,there was a tendency(linear,P=0.092)for a decrease in ADFI as SBm *** was a tendency(P=0.090)for a quadratic response for ADG,with a decrease in ADG observed with 39%SBm *** fed diets with increasing SBm had a tendency(quadratic,P=0.069)for an increase in G:F up to 33%SBm and an improvement(linear,P=0.001;quadratic,P=0.063)in CE with increasing *** CE to estimate the energy of SBm relative to corn,a value of 105.4%of corn energy or 2816 kcal/kg NE was determined using all data *** removing the CE value

＜正＞Significant changes were found in the activity of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase（PAL） and the content of free phenolic acids in the leaves and ears of two winter wheat cultivars,Regina（partially resistant） and Zdar （susceptible）after infestation by metopolophium dirhodum（md）, Rhopalosiphum padi（Rp） and Sitobion avenae（Sa）.The infestation led to the increase in PAL activity in leaves and ears of both *** difference in response to aphid infestation between cultivars was more significant in *** spite of higher PAL activity,the level of total free phenolic acids in infested leaves of susceptible Zdar did not change *** leaves of resistant Regina the content of phenolics even decreased by about 25%and 45%when infested with Rp and md, *** decrease was caused mainly by the decline of p-coumaric acid *** level of dominant phenolic acid in ear extracts,pcoumaric, increased after 5a infestation approximatelly twice and there were no significant differences between Regina and *** possible role of phenolic acids in cereal resistance to aphids is discussed.

Familial dysautonomia(FD), a hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy, is caused by a mutation in the Elongator complex protein 1(ELP1) gene that leads to a tissue-specific reduction of ELP1 protein. Our work to generate a phenotypic mouse model for FD headed to the discovery that homozygous deletion of the mouse Elp1 gene leads to embryonic lethality prior to mid-gestation. Given that FD is caused by a reduction, not loss, of ELP1, we generated two new mouse models by introducing different copy numbers of the human FD ELP1 transgene into the Elp1 knockout mouse(Elp1) and observed that human ELP1 expression rescues embryonic development in a dose-dependent manner. We then conducted a comprehensive transcriptome analysis in mouse embryos to identify genes and pathways whose expression correlates with the amount of ELP1. We found that ELP1 is essential for the expression of genes responsible for nervous system development. Further, gene length analysis of the differentially expressed genes showed that the loss of Elp1 mainly impacts the expression of long genes and that by gradually restoring Elongator, their expression is progressively rescued. Finally, through evaluation of co-expression modules, we identified gene sets with unique expression patterns that depended on ELP1 expression.
