Exhuming the Meso-Cenozoic Kyrgyz Tianshan and Siberian Altai-Sayan:A review based on low-temperature thermochronology

Thermochronological datasets for the Kyrgyz Tianshan and Siberian Altai-Sayan within Central Asia reveal a punctuated exhumation history during the Meso-Cenozoic. In this paper, the datasets for both regions are collectively reviewed in order to speculate on the links between the Meso-Cenozoic exhumation of the continental Eurasian interior and the prevailing tectonic processes at the plate margins. Whereas most of the thermochronological data across both regions document late jurassic -Cretaceous regional basement cooling, older landscape relics and dissecting fault zones throughout both regions preserve Triassic and Cenozoic events of rapid cooling, respectively. Triassic cooling is thought to reflect the Qiangtang-Eurasia collision and/or rifting/subsidence in the West Siberian basin. Alternatively, this cooling signal could be related with the terminal terrane-amalgamation of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt. For the Kygyz Tianshan, late jurassic-Cretaceous regional exhumation and Cenozoic fault reactivations can be linked with specific tectonic events during the closure of the Palaeo-Tethys and Neo-Tethys Oceans, respectively. The effect of the progressive consumption of these oceans and the associated collisions of Cimmeria and India with Eurasia probably only had a minor effect on the exhumation of the Siberian Altai-Sayan. More likely, tectonic forces from the east （present-day co- ordinates） as a result of the building and collapse of the Mongol-Okhotsk orogen and rifting in the Baikal region shaped the current Siberian Altai-Sayan topography. Although many of these hypothesised links need to be tested further, they allow a first-order insight into the dynamic response and the stress propagation pathways from the Eurasian margin into the continental interior.

Asia is the largest continent on Earth and records a prolonged history of continental growth and tectonic reactivation during the Phanerozoic. Several tectonic forces at the continental palaeomargins induced mountain building, both at the margins themselves （e.g. the Himalayas） and into the continental interior （e.g. the Tianshan）.

Cenozoic low temperature cooling history of the eastern Lhasa terrane:Implications for high-relief topography of external drainage area in the southern Tibetan Plateau

The early Paleozoic Terskey Suture zone,located in the southern part of the Northern Tien Shan domain in Kyrgyzstan,comprises tectonic slivers of dismembered ophiolites and associated primitive volcanics and deepmarine *** the Lake Songkul area,early-middle Cambrian pillow basalts are crosscut by the Songkultau intrusion of coarse-grained gneissose quartz diorites and tonalites with geochemical characteristics typical for high-SiO2 adakites(SiO2>56 wt.%,Al2O3>15 wt.%,Na2 O>3.5 wt.%and high Sr/Y and La/Yb ratios).The Songkultau granitoids have positive initialεNd(+3.8 to+6.4)andεHf(+12.3 to+13.5)values indicating derivation from sources with MORB-like isotopic *** formations,surrounding the Songkultau intrusion,have geochemical affinities varying from ocean floor to island arc *** rock assemblage is interpreted as a relic of an early-middle Cambrian primitive arc where the adakite-like granitoids were derived from partial melting of young and hot subducted oceanic *** age of 505 Ma,obtained for the Songkultau intrusion,shows that hot subduction under the Northern Tien Shan continued until middle *** primitive arc complexes were obducted onto the Northern Tien Shan domain,where the Andean type continental magmatic arc developed in Cambrian and *** of the Andean type arc was accompanied by uplift,erosion and deposition of coarse clastic sediments.A depositional age of ca.470 Ma,obtained for the gravellites in the Lake Songkul area,is in agreement with the timing of deposition for lower Ordovician conglomerates elsewhere in the Northern Tien Shan,and corresponds to the main phase of the Andean type *** Songkultau adakites in association with surrounding ocean floor and island arc formations constitute a relic of a primitive Cambrian arc and represent a juvenile domain of substantial size identified so far within the predominantly crustal-derived terranes of Tien *** a regional scale this primit

New insights from low-temperature thermochronology into the tectonic and geomorphologic evolution of the south-eastern Brazilian highlands and passive margin

The South Atlantic passive margin along the south-eastern Brazilian highlands exhibits a complex landscape,including a northern inselberg area and a southern elevated plateau,separated by the Doce River *** landscape is set on the Proterozoic to early Paleozoic rocks of the region that once was the hot core of the Aracuai orogen,in Ediacaran to Ordovician *** to the break-up of Gondwana and consequently the opening of the South Atlantic during the Early Cretaceous,those rocks of the Araquai orogen became the basement of a portion of the South Atlantic passive margin and related southeastern Brazilian *** goal is to provide a new set of constraints on the thermo-tectonic history of this portion of the south-eastern Brazilian margin and related surface processes,and to provide a hypothesis on the geodynamic context since *** this end,we combine the apatite fission track(AFT)and apatite(U-Th)/He(AHe)methods as input for inverse thermal history *** our AFT and AHe central ages are Late Cretaceous to early *** AFT ages vary between 62 Ma and90 Ma,with mean track lengths between 12.2μm and 13.6μ*** ages are found to be equivalent to AFT ages within uncertainty,albeit with the former exhibiting a lesser degree of *** relate this Late Cretaceous-Paleocene basement cooling to uplift with accelerated denudation at this *** variation of the denudation time can be linked to differential reactivation of the Precambrian structural network and differential erosion due to a complex interplay with the drainage *** argue that posterior large-scale sedimentation in the offshore basins may be a result of flexural isostasy combined with an expansion of the drainage *** put forward the combined compression of the Mid-Atlantic ridge and the Peruvian phase of the Andean orogeny,potentially augmented through the thermal weakening of the lower crust by the Trindade thermal anomaly,as a probable cause for th

Apatite-fission-track geochronology and its tectonic correlation in the Dabieshan orogen,central China

AFT data of granitoid and metamorphic samples from the Dabieshan orogen have an age range between 96.4 Ma and 41.9 Ma coupled with confined track lengths of 11.5—14.0 μm, reflecting the cooling time of rocks differentially through the 100℃± isotherm. The juras- sic-Eogene sediments from the North Huaiyang and Hefei basin, however, yield their AFT ages of 128.8—62.0 Ma with mean track lengths of 8.6—11.9 μm, recording a complicated thermal de- velopment of the basin. These AFT data structurally allowing the coupling between the orogen and the basin are to a great extent considered as the result from the control of NNE-trending regional tectonics. It took place approximately at 95—90 Ma that the orogen developed with an abrupt shift from the doming extension to the differential transtension, which is assumed to be related with the changes of the convergence between the Western Pacific and Eurasia plates. The differentially sinistral strike-slipping from the transtension between Tanlu and Shang- cheng-Macheng faults brought the doming extension of the orogen shrunk sharply in Late Cre- taceous. In Eogene, the full-grown transtension that dominated in East Asia was caused mainly by a rapid decrease of the rates of the Western Pacific convergence, which can be therefore re- garded as a major mechanism creating the zonal anomalies of 60—40 Ma in the orogen. The thermal anomaly of 70—40 Ma zonally along the Tanlu fault cooled more slowly than the anomaly of 60—55 Ma zoning along the Shangcheng-Macheng fault, but the 60—40 Ma anomaly trending E-W in hinterlands of the orogen seems to be relicts of the doming extension as a result of inten- sive rebuilding by the transtension. In addition, the orogen was also reactivated by the far-field effect from India-Asia collision in Eogene, where major NWW-trending faults played an important role in facilitating such far-field tectonic transferring. 本文建立了适用于交汇区的三维水动力-微塑料运动耦合模型,基于CFD-deM耦合方法模拟,探究了不同交汇角、不同汇流比条件下微塑料的水动力输运机制与赋存特性.结果表明:干支流交汇区中的低流速区(分离区、停滞区、分离区下游)将发展为微塑料的富集区域;微塑料主要受位于流动分离区中漩涡的影响,从主流右岸进入漩涡区,逐渐形成椭圆形富集带;流动分离区中心微塑料丰度与交汇角呈线性正相关关系;流动分离区中心微塑料丰度与干支流汇流比呈线性负相关关系,R^(2)=0.9007.研究结果将丰富干支流交汇区微塑料运动的基础理论,为精确化防治微塑料污染提供理论依据.

This study provides new low-temperature thermochronometric data, mainly apatite fission track data on the basement rocks in and adjacent to the Talas-Fergana Fault, in the Kyrgyz Tien Shan in the first *** the second place, we also present new detrital apatite fission track data on the Meso-Cenozoic sediments from fault related basins and surrounding intramontane basins. Our results confirm multistaged Meso-Cenozoic tectonic activity, possibly induced by the accretion of the so-called Cimmerian blocks to the Eurasian margin. New evidence for this multi-staged thermo-tectonic activity is found in the data of both basement and Meso-Cenozoic sediment samples in or close to the Talas-Fergana ***(U-Th)/He and apatite fission track data constrain rapid Late TriassiceE arly jurassic and Late jurassiceE arly Cretaceous basement cooling in the Kyrgyz Tien Shan around 200 Ma and 130 -100 Ma respectively. detrital apatite fission track results indicate a different burial history on both sides of the Talas-Fergana Fault. The apatite fission track system of the jurassic sediments in the Middle Tien Shan unit east of the Talas-Fergana Fault is not reset, while the jurassic sediments in the Fergana Basin and Yarkand-Fergana Basin, west of the fault zone, are partially and in some cases even totally reset. The totally reset samples exhibit Oligocene and Miocene ages and evidence the Cenozoic reactivation of the western Kyrgyz Tien Shan as a consequence of the India-Eurasia convergence.
