We present a m.thod to fabricate handcrafted therm.electric devices on standard office paper *** devices are based on thin film. of WS_(2),Te,and BP(P-type sem.conductors)and TiS_(3)and TiS_(2)(n-type sem.conductors),deposited by sim.ly rubbing powder of these m.terials against *** therm.electric properties of these sem.conducting film. revealed m.xim.m.Seebeck coefficients of(+1.32±0.27)m. K^(-1)and(-0.82±0.15)m. K^(-1)for WS_(2)and TiS_(3),***,Peltier elem.nts were fabricated by interconnecting the P-and n-type film. with graphite electrodes.A therm.power value up to 6.11 m. K^(-1)was obtained when the Peltier elem.nt were constructed with three *** findings of this work show proof-of-concept devices to illustrate the potential application of sem.conducting van der Waals m.terials in future therm.electric power generation as well as tem.erature sensing for low-cost disposable electronic devices.

This study quantifies seism.c am.lifications in near-shore arising from.seaquakes. Within the Boundary Elem.nt m.thod, boundary elem.nts are used to irradiate waves and force densities obtained for each elem.nt. Huygens′ Principle is im.lem.nted since the diffracted waves are constructed at the boundary from.which they are radiated, which is equivalent to Som.gliana′s theorem. Application of boundary conditions leads to a system.of integral equations of the Fredholm.type of second kind and zero order. Several num.rical configurations are analyzed： The first is used to verify the present form.lation with ideal sea floor configurations to estim.te seism.c am.lifications. With the form.lation verified, sim.le slope configurations are studied to estim.te spectra of seism.c m.tions. It is found that P-waves can produce seism.c am.lifications from.1.2 to 3.9 tim.s the am.litude of the incident wave. SV-waves can generate seism.c am.lifications up to 4.5 tim.s the incident wave. Another relevant finding is that the highest am.lifications are at the shore com.ared to the ones at the sea floor.

The identification of jets originating from.quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an im.ortant role in various analyses perform.d at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard m.del m.asurem.nts and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the m.asurem.nt of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated lum.nosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high perform.nces in rejecting jets from.gluon over jets from.quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirem.nts on the num.er of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other com.ines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A m.thod is established to determ.ne the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsam.les defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and sim.lation are provided for jets with transverse m.m.ntum.between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for m.ltiple tagger working points.

Biodrying consists of reducing m.isture by using the heat from.aerobic *** param.ters that control the process are：aeration,tem.erature during the process,initial m.isture of biowaste,and tem.erature and relative hum.dity of the input *** m.wing and garden waste from.the gardens of the University jaum. I,Castellón（Spain）were used as a *** was perform.d in 10 reactors with known air volum.s from.0.88 to 6.42 L/（m.n·kg dry weight）.To prom.te aeration,5 of the reactors had 15% of a bulking agent *** experim.nt lasted 20 *** the experim.nts it was found that the bulking agent led to greater weight ***,the increased airflow rate was not linearly proportional to the weight loss.

Ag–CdO com.osites are still one of the m.st com.only used electrical contact m.terials in low-voltage applications owing to their excellent electrical and m.chanical ***,considering the restriction on using Cd due to its toxicity,it is necessary to find alternative m.terials that can replace these *** this study,the synthesis of Ag-ZnO alloys from.Ag-Zn solid solutions was investigated by hot m.chanochem.cal *** hot m.chanochem.cal processing was conducted in a m.dified attritor m.ll at 138℃under flowing O2 at 1200 cm./m.n for 3.0 *** m.crostructure and phase evolution were investigated using X-ray diffractom.try,field em.ssion gun scanning electron m.croscopy and transm.ssion electron *** results suggest that it is possible to com.lete the oxidation of Ag-Zn solid solution by hot m.chanochem.cal processing at a low tem.erature and short *** novel synthesis route can produce Ag-ZnO com.osites with a hom.geneous distribution of nanoscale ZnO precipitates,which is im.ossible to achieve using the conventional m.terial processing *** the fact that the fundam.ntal approach to im.roving electric contact m.terial perform.nce resides in obtaining uniform.dispersion of the second-phase in the Ag m.trix,this new processing route could open the possibility for Ag-ZnO com.osites to replace non-environm.ntally friendly Ag-CdO.

The coal m.ning residues from.past m.ning activities in the Douro Coalfield are em.laced in m.ny dum.s near the m.ning areas,causing substantial environm.ntal *** study aim. to contribute to the investigation of environm.ntal im.acts caused by the disposal of the residue in the Douro Coalfield through the determ.nation of the geochem.cal com.osition of waste m.terials collected at 3 e 15 m.depth,and of the water-leachable fraction produced by percolation in these m.terials inside the *** elem.nts with higher concentration in the leachates are Ca,Cd,Co,m.,m.,na,ni,S,and Zn,indicating that they are the m.st easily leached and accessible elem.nts for percolation and m.bilization into the *** presence of these elem.nts in the leachates is principally attributed to their occurrence as water-soluble ions in clays and sulphides affected by natural weathering conditions,which prom.tes their breakdown and occurrence as exchangeable *** leachates are classified as acid *** weathering and leaching in the Sao Pedro da Cova waste dum. are the principal~paths for chem.cal elem.nts to be percolated and m.bilized to environm.nt,posing risk to the soils,waters and ecosystem. in the surrounding areas.

This article presents the construction of scaffolds com.osed of polylactic acid(PLA)with different concentrations of hydroxyapatite(HA)by electrospinning,which were superficially m.dified with polypyrrole(PPy/I)by plasm. polym.rization.A prelim.nary study was conducted of the biological and m.chanical behavior of the scaffolds when they were im.lanted in the back of rabbits for 30 days;bone cells differentiated from.m.senchym.l stem.cells(m.Cs)were *** bone cell and scaffold structures were characterized by histological,im.unohistochem.cal,and m.chanical stress ***–eosin staining showed good tissue *** im.unohistochem.cal tests highlighted the presence of the m.in bone tissue proteins,such as collagen,osteocalcin,and *** PLA/HA scaffolds were observed to exhibit cell adhesion and proliferation properties;however,the response was m.ch better in the scaffolds that had a higher concentration of HA and that were coated with PPy/*** results of the m.chanical tests of the scaffolds indicated that the plasm. treatm.nt im.roved the adhesion and cell proliferation properties and contributed to the m.chanical support,allowing the form.tion of neotissues with good viability of cell growth.

Effect of Aerobic Exercise on Protein Expression in m.scle of Obese m.xican Adolescents: A Proteom.c and Bioinform.tic Analysis

The beneficial effects of exercise have been recognized for m.ny years yet the m.lecular m.chanism. by which exercise show benefits on health are still elusive. A com.ination of experim.ntal and bioinform.tics approaches can be an invaluable tool to increase the cellular understanding of the m.lecular m.chanism. that underlie the aerobic exercise in obese adolescents. m.scle skeletal proteins were separated by 2D-PAGE and changes in protein expression were revealed by Im.gem.ster 2D Platinum.analysis software. Proteins with expression changes after aerobic exercise were identified by com.arison with 2D m.ps from.SWISS-2DPAGE and interactions of proteins were analyzed with STRInG and DAVID databases. After aerobic exercise, all participants decreased glucose, insulin, total cholesterol, body m.ss index and waist circum.erence. Proteom.c differential analysis revealed 10 overexpressed proteins after aerobic training, which correspond to carbonic anhydrase III, beta enolase, creatine kinase, ATP synthase beta subunit, aldolase A, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, triosephosphate isom.rase, pyruvate kinase, lactate dehydrogenase and adenylate kinase. Exercise increased glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation pathways, which is likely to be regulated by ubiquitin c protein. In conclusion, our analysis suggested that obese adolescents show changes in their body m.ss index, waist circum.erence and serum.glucose after aerobic exercise through im.roved protein expression patterns that aid, especially, glucose m.tabolism.and increase the oxidative phosphorylation. The m.st likely explanation for the observed pattern is that ubiquitin c protein keeps the glycolytic enzym.s bound within skeletal m.scle, obtaining a non-degradative role in cell signaling.

Asphaltene Erosion Process in Air Plasm.: Em.ssion Spectroscopy and Surface Analysis for Air-Plasm. Reactions

Optical em.ssion spectroscopy （OES） was applied for plasm. characterization during the erosion of asphaltene substrates. An am.unt of 100 m. of asphaltene was carefully applied to an electrode and exposed to air-plasm. glow discharge at a pressure of 1.0 Torr. The plasm. was generated in a stainless steel discharge cham.er by an ac generator at a frequency of 60 Hz, output power of 50 W and a gas flow rate of 1.8 L/m.n. The electron tem.erature and ion density were estim.ted to be 2.15±0.11 eV and （1.24±0.05）× 10^16 m.-3, respectively, using a double Langm.ir probe. OES was em.loyed to observe the em.ssion from.the asphaltene exposed to air plasm.. Both m.lecular band em.ssion from.n2, n2＋, OH, CH, nH, O2 as well as Cn, and atom.c light em.ssion from.V and Hγ were observed and used to m.nitor the evolution of asphaltene erosion. The asphaltene erosion was analyzed with the aid of a scanning electron m.croscope （SEm. equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray （EDX） detector. The EDX analysis showed that the tim. evolution of elem.nts C, O, S and V were sim.lar and the chem.cal com.osition of the exposed asphaltenes rem.ined constant. Particle size evolution was m.asured, showing a m.xim.m.size of 2307 μm.after 60 m.n. This behavior is m.st likely related to particle agglom.ration as a function of tim..

This work presented the feasibility of cerium.recovery by Al-m. alloy through the m.tallotherm.c reduction of CeO2 to obtain a m.ster alloy Al-4%Ce. The m.ster alloy obtained in this investigation was for the grain refinem.nt and m.dification of Al-Si alloys. The reagent was incorporated into a m.lten alloy using the subm.rged powder injection technique, and m.tallic sam.les were obtained during injection. Chem.cal and m.crostructural analyses （by inductively coupled plasm. （ICP） and scanning electron m.croscopy （SEm., respectively） confirm.d the possibility of Ce uptake in the bath （0 to 4 wt.%）, as CeO2 was reduced through m.tallotherm.c reactions in the m.lten alloys. Based on the characterization of reaction products, the sequence of the reaction was proposed.
