Temporal dynamics of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy injuries on magnetic resonance imaging

EFFECT OF Si CONTENT ON ORdERING dEGREE ANd ElECTROMAGNETIC CHARACTERISTICS IN FeSiAl AllOYS

FeSiAl alloys ribbons synthesized by melt-quench were annealed in vacuum at 873 K for 60 rain. The flaky powders were prepared by milling the annealed ribbons for 70 h. After milling, the powders were heat treated at 573 K for 90 rain. The ordering degree of the powders lattice structure was analyzed by X-ray diffraction （XRd）. The measurement of specific saturation magnetization was carried out by vibrating samples magnetometer （VSM）. Complex permittivity and complex permeability in the frequency band of 0.5-18 GHz were measured with the vector network analyzer. The ordering degree of the superlattice structure increased from 0.2＇7 to 0.49. Complex permittivity and complex permeability decreased with increasing Si content. After ordering, the specific saturation magnetization decreased from 134.2 to 85.0 ***-1. For use in anti-EMI material, the total contents of Si and Al in FeSiAl alloys should be controlled at a low level.

Kinetic analysis via mathematical modeling for ferrous iron oxidation in a class of SBR-type system

This paper analyses the oxidation of ferrous iron via chemical and biological means in a class of Sequential Batch Reactors(SBR-type).For this,a kinetic model for the study of iron oxidation system is proposed,followed by a parametric sensitivity analysis and a bifurcation analysis,which allow selecting the most influential kinetic parameters in order to ensure a suitable prediction capacity of the mathematical *** system consists of two SBR bioreactors,the first being used to produce hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)that is fed to a second reactor where the iron oxidation is carried out by chemical–biological *** predictions were compared with experimental data for the production of H2O2 and for ferrous iron oxidation,finding suitable correlation coefficients(r2 N 0.98)for each state *** bifurcation analysis showed the trajectories of the main variables,such as,biomass,H2O2 and ferrous iron,under the change of the most influential kinetic *** analysis demonstrates the usefulness of the constructed model to predict the kinetic behaviour of the SBR-type process.

Comprehensive studies identify motor neuron spectrum disorders including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(AlS)as globally rising fatal disorders with the highest prevalence in aging populations,influenced by ethnicity and ancestry(GBd 2016 Motor Neuron disease Colla borators,2018).While~10% of diagnoses involve a family history(fAlS),most cases are considered sporadic(sAlS).However,population-based studies suggest that even cases without a common index mutation impart heritability(Ryan et al.,2019),indicating a crucial role of rare and as yet unknown genetic denominators.

Microwave-ultrasound assisted extraction of red corn pigments and their effect on chemical composition and tecno-functional properties

Currently, there is a growing interest in obtaining natural pigments, without presenting a risk to health, as well as to the matrix and food safety. The objective of this study was to characterize grains with different shades of red color (High pigmentation maize = RA, Medium pigmentation maize = RM, and low pigmentation maize = RB, reddish maize with white segments = VO and white maize control = SC). The physical properties (kernel weight, length, width, thickness, and grain and flour color), chemical composition (moisture, fat, protein, fiber, starch, ash, and minerals), and techno-functional properties (capacity of absorption of organic molecules (OMAC), swelling (CH), oil retention (CAAC), and water absorption (WAS)) variables were measured. Afterward, RM was selected, and a pigment extraction (EAUM) was carried out using microwave-ultrasound equipment with different ratios of ethanol (0, 30, and 70%) and citric acid ratios (0 and 1%). The color and properties of the solid (starch, protein, fat, and their techno-functional properties) were determined in the aqueous phase and were compared with the properties prior to EAUM. The results indicated that the red grains have higher starch content (57.6%) and reddish colors, in addition, VO presented higher moisture (10.4%), fat (6.7%) and fiber (10.0%). The colors of the pigments obtained with EtOH (30 and 70%) show shades red and yellow. Finally, the EAUM decreased the fat content up to 57%, increased WAS and CAAC in the residual flour and generated changes in OMAC and CH, increasing in aqueous medium and reducing with EtOH.

The process and regulation of cellular metabolism are extremely complex and accomplished through multiple signalling pathways that operate in parallel,and often experience significant overlap in upstream and downstream a signal *** this complexity,single pathway or even single protein activations are commonly used to extrapolate broad characterizations of cellular ***,multiple routes for peptide-chain translation initiation exist,some of which may be either exclusive or overlapping depending on the state and environment of the *** it may be highly impractical to account for every aspect of metabolic regulation and permutation of mRNA translation,it is important to acknowledge that investigations relating to these pathways are often incomplete and not necessarily indicative of the overall metabolic *** becomes urgent when considering the role that cellular anabolism plays in both healthy cellular functions and the aetiology of several disease's altered *** review describes recent advances in the understanding of cellular metabolic regulation,with specific focus given to the complexity of‘downstream’mRNA translation initiation through both mTOR-dependent and mTOR-independent signallings.

The Improbable Association between the Herbicide 2,4-d and Polyneuropathy

Isolated case reports have circumstantially linked the use of the herbicide 2.4-dichlorophen-oxyacetic acid (2,4-d) to polyneuropathy. However, a critical review of the literature reveals numerous reasons for doubting a relationship of 2.4-d to polyneuropathy: (1) too few cases given the wide use of the chemical: (2) no valid toxicologic or epidemiologic evidence; (3) the diversity of antecedent illness; (4) an unlikely time sequence of antecedent illness to exposure (pharmacokinetics); (5) the lack of polyneuropathy in medical patients given repetitive doses of 2.4-d; (6) the lack of polyneuropathy in heavily exposed military personnel involved in operation Ranch Hand; (7) the biological properties of 2.4-d which minimize penetration of 2.4-d into the nervous system under normal exposure conditions; and (8) the lack of polyneuropathy in a variety of experimental animal species given 2,4-d by several routes of exposure and at dose levels and durations of exposure many times greater than human applicator exposure. Thus, the weight of evidence indicates that 2.4-d is an unlikely cause of polyneuropathy. 1990 Academic Press. Inc.

Epidermal Patterning Genes Impose Non‐cell Autonomous Cell Size determination and have Additional Roles in Root Meristem Size Control

The regulation of cellular growth is of vital importance for embryonic and postembryonic patterning. Growth regulation in the epidermis has importance for organ growth rates in roots and shoots, proposing epidermal cells as an interesting model for cellular growth regulation. Here we assessed whether the root epidermis is a suitable model system to address cell size determination. In Arabidopsis thaliana l., root epidermal cells are regularly spaced in neighbouring tricho-（root hair） and atrichoblast （non-hair） cells, showing already distinct cell size regulation in the root meristem. We determined cell sizes in the root meristem and at the onset of cellular elongation, revealing that not only division rates but also cellular shape is distinct in tricho-and atrichoblasts. Intriguingly, epidermal-patterning mutants, failing to define differential vacuolization in neighbouring epidermal cell files, also display non-differential growth. Using these epidermal-patterning mutants, we show that polarized growth behaviour of epidermal tricho-and atrichoblast is interdependent, suggesting non-cell autonomous signals to integrate tissue expansion. Besides the interweaved cell-type-dependent growth mechanism, we reveal an additional role for epidermal patterning genes in root meristem size and organ growth regulation. We conclude that epidermal cells represent a suitable model system to study cell size determination and interdependent tissue growth.
