A Novel Feature Selection Framework for Automatic Web Page Classification

The number of Internet users and the number of web pages being added to www increase dramatically every day. It is therefore required to automatically and efficiently classify web pages into web directories. This helps the search engines to provide users with relevant and quick retrieval results. As web pages are represented by thousands of features, feature selection helps the web page classifiers to resolve this large scale dimensionality problem. This paper proposes a new feature selection method using Ward’s minimum variance measure. This measure is first used to identify clusters of redundant features in a web page. In each cluster, the best representative features are retained and the others are eliminated. Removing such redundant features helps in minimizing the resource utilization during classification. The proposed method of feature selection is compared with other common feature selection methods. Experiments done on a benchmark data set, namely WebKB show that the proposed method performs better than most of the other feature selection methods in terms of reducing the number of features and the classifier modeling time.

Colloidal synthesis and characterization of Cu_2ZnSnS_4 nanoplates

Synthesis of copper zinc tin sulphide（Cu_2ZnSnS_4/ with nanoplate morphology was achieved through colloidal method using oleic acid as capping agent and solvent with 1-octadecene（1-ODE） at 240°C.X-ray diffraction（XRD） analysis shows that the synthesized nanoplates possessed pure kesterite *** analysis clearly shows the formation of nanoplates having the size of about 50–100 *** spin resonance（ESR） spectrum analysis of the prepared nanoplates shows that the valence state of copper（II） which indicates the strong coupling with other metal *** gravimetric/differential thermal analysis（TG/DTA） analysis shows the weight loss of sample at 450°C predicting the loss of capping ligands on the surface of the *** possible mechanism for the conversion of nanoplate-like structures during synthesis was *** results are discussed in detail.

Carbon dioxide adsorption and cycloaddition reaction of epoxides using chitosan–graphene oxide nanocomposite as a catalyst

One of today＇s major challenges is to provide green materials for a cleaner environment. We have conducted studies on carbon dioxide（CO2） adsorption and conversion to valuable products by an ecofriendly approach based in chitosan/graphene oxide（CSGO） nanocomposite film. Rheological behavior indicates that the CSGO has a better solvation property than the pure chitosan. An adsorption capacity of 1.0152 mmol CO2/g of CSGO nanocomposite at4.6 bar was observed. The catalytic behavior of the CSGO nanocomposite in the presence of tetra-n-butylammonium iodide（n-Bu4 NI） as co-catalyst was evaluated for the cycloaddition of CO2 to epoxides, to give cyclic carbonates, in the absence of any solvent. These results strongly suggest that the CSGO nanocomposite may open new vistas towards the development of ecofriendly material for catalytic conversion and adsorption of CO2 on industrial scale.

Characterization of partial melting events in garnet-cordierite gneiss from the Kerala Khondalite Belt,India

Phase equilibria modelling coupled with U–Pb zircon and monazite ages of garnet–cordierite gneiss from Vallikodu Kottayam in the Kerala Khondalite Belt,southern India are presented *** results suggest that the area attained peak P–T conditions of^900C at 7.5–8 kbar,followed by decompression to 3.5–5 kbar and cooling to 450–480C,preserving signatures of the partial melting event in the field of high to ultra-high temperature *** reintegration models suggest that up to 35%granitic melt could have been produced during metamorphism at^950*** U–Pb age data from zircons(~1.0–~0.7 Ga)and chemical ages from monazites(~540 Ma and^941 Ma)reflect a complex tectonometamorphic evolution of the ***^941 Ma age reported from these monazites indicate a Tonian ultra-high temperature event,linked to juvenile magmatism/deformation episodes reported from the Southern Granulite Terrane and associated fragments in Rodinia,which were subsequently overprinted by the Cambrian(~540 Ma)tectonothermal episode.

Local hardening and asymmetric twin growth by twin-twin interactions in a Mg alloy

In this study,the role of twin-twin interactions on the distributions of local defects(e.g.,dislocations)and stress fields in a magnesium alloy is investigated.A co-zone(1012)-(1012)tensile twin junction in a deformed Mg-3wt.%Y alloy is analyzed using transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The results show that the morphology of the impinging(1012)twin is asymmetric,and the non-interacting boundary of the recipient(1012)twin is *** analysis of TEM images reveals that type-II pyramidal[1213](1212)dislocations concentrate in the vicinity of the twin-twin junction *** samedislocations are also observed inside the interacting twin domains along with a few ***dislocations emanating from the impinging(1012)twin boundary have edge character and are extended with faults parallel to the basal *** contrast,thedislocations connected to the recipient(1012)twin are predominantly screw orientation and ***-viscoplastic fast Fourier transform based crystal plasticity calculations are performed to rationalize the observed twin morphology and local dislocation *** model calculations suggest that the local stress fields generated at the junction site where the two twins meet are responsible for the experimentally observed concentration of*** calculated stress fields are asymmetric with respect to the junction site,explaining the observed asymmetric morphology of the impinging ***,these findings show strong effects of twin-twin interactions on the distribution of dislocations as well as the evolution of the twinned microstructure and as such,can help advance understanding of twinning in Mg alloys and their effect on mechanical behavior.

Threefold Increase in the Number of Drug Resistant TB Cases after Introduction of Universal Drug Susceptibility Testing: Experiences from Two South India Districts

Background: In India, tuberculosis (TB) is a major public health problem, and the advent of drug resistance TB (DR-TB) has worsened the situation. The Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP) has introduced universal drug susceptibility testing (UDST) for all diagnosed TB cases in 2018. We conducted this study to know the advantage of implementing UDST when compared to selective testing existent in 2017 on key diagnostic cascade parameters and to identify the challenges in the implementation of UDST. Methods: The study was conducted in two districts of Karnataka, India during january 2017-December 2018. The quantitative part consisted of before-and-after design and the qualitative part consisted of descriptive design. Results: In 2017 (during selective testing/“before” period) out of the 2440 TB patients, 80 (3%) were diagnosed with Isoniazid and Rifampicin resistance patients;in contrast in 2018 (during UDST/“after” period) of the 5129 TB patients 258 (5%) were diagnosed with Isoniazid and Rifampicin resistance. However, the proportion of eligible patients tested for rifampicin resistance during the “after” period was 60% when compared to 100% during the “before” period and median turnaround time for testing was also longer during the “after” period when compared to the “before” period (32.5 days vs 27.5 days). Major reasons for these two gaps were found to be difficulties in collecting sputum specimens and transportation. Conclusion: The rollout of UDST has led to a three-fold increase in a number of DR-TB cases detected in the region. There is a need for the programme to increase the proportion tested for DST by increasing the laboratory capacity and address the challenges in sputum collection and transportation.

Effect of nitrofurazone on the reproductive organs in adult male mice

Aim: To study the effect of 5-nitro-2-fumldehyde semicarbazone (nitrofurazone), a derivative of nitrofuran, onmale reproductive organs of Parkes (P) swain mice. Methods: Mice were given nitrofurazone orally at a dose of 64mg/kg body weight per day, for 10 and 20 days, and were killed 24 h and/or 56 days after the last treatment. Histo-logical appearance of testis, motility and number of spermatozoa in cauda epididymidis, and biochemical indices in epi-didymis and seminal vesicle were evaluated. Results: Histologically, testis showed marked regressive changes inthe seminiferous tubules in mice treated with nitrofurazone. Ten days after treatment, there was much depletion of germcells in the seminiferous tubules, and the germinal epithelium was lined mainly with Sertoli cells, spermatogonia, sper-matocytes, and a few round spermatids; intraepithelial vacuoles and multinucleated giant cells were also observed intubules. By 20 days, regressive changes in the seminiferous tubules were further pronounced, and pachytene spermato-cytes were the most advanced germ cells noticed in the tubules. In severe cases, the tubules were lined with a thin layerof Sertoli cells and spermatogonia. The treatment also caused marked reductions in the motility and number of sperma-tozoa in the cauda epididymidis, in weight and the level of fructose in the seminal vesicle, and in sialic acid level in theepididymis. Fifty six days after drag withdrawal, the alterations induced in the reproductive organs returned to controllevels. Conclusion: Our results suggest that nitrofurazone treatment in P mice induces marked alterations in themale reproductive organs, and that the alterations are reversible following cessation of treatment.(Asian j Androl 2001 Mar; 3: 39-44)

Role of extracellular vesicles secretion in paclitaxel resistance of prostate cancer cells

Aim:The development of chemotherapy resistance is the major obstacle in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer(PCa).Extracellular vesicles(EVs)secretion plays a significant role among different mechanisms contributing to ***,inhibition of EVs release may increase the efficacy of chemotherapeutic drugs against ***:Paclitaxel(PTX)resistant PCa cells(PC3-R and DU145-R)were treated with GW4869,a known exosome biogenesis *** were isolated from the conditioned media by ExoQuick-based precipitation method and characterized for concentration and size distribution by nanoparticle tracking *** effect of GW4869 treatment on the survival and growth of PCa cells was assessed by MTT,and colony formation assays in vitro,and ectopic PC3-R xenografts in male athymic nude mice in *** effect of other EV biogenesis inhibitors,imipramine and dimethyl amiloride(DMA),treatment was also analyzed on the survival of PC3-R ***:GW4869(10-20μM)treatment of PTX resistant PCa cells significantly reduced the release of small EVs(50-100 nm size range)while increasing the release of larger EVs(>150 nm in size),and inhibited their ***,GW4869(5-20μM)treatment(24-72h)significantly inhibited the survival of PC3-R cells in a dose-dependent *** observed a similar growth inhibition with both imipramine(5-20μg/mL)and DMA(5-20μg/mL)treatment in PC3-R ***,GW4869 treatment(IP)in mice bearing PC3-R xenografts significantly reduced the tumor weight(65%reduction,P=0.017)compared to the vehicle-treated control mice without causing any noticeable ***:Inhibiting the release of EVs could sensitize the resistant PCa cells to chemotherapy.
