The use of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRs) as a means of assessing regional oxygen supply is a method that has gained recent support and interest. Given the potential of NIRs, this technology was utilized in an infant patient with a case of severe osteogenesis imperfecta that precluded conventional blood pressure monitoring. Using NIRs as a monitor and titrating the anesthetic accordingly produced a good outcome, with no post-operative evidence of detrimental intra-operative hypotension or ischemia.

为研究裂缝控制,选取了一个带有预制板的两跨连续组合双肋梁的足尺模型,并对其进行试验及观察。在试验中,第一次荷载加到360kN,然后进行疲劳荷载试验。最后静力加载至900kN。试验结果证实了带预制板的双肋连续组合梁显示出了在静力疲劳荷载作用下的组合截面的强度和刚度特性。然而,在负弯矩作用区域,裂缝集中在内部支撑之上的桥面之间的接缝部位,初始的裂缝间距由接缝处间的距离决定,在使用荷载作用下,带有预制板的组合桥梁的桥面和横向接缝的裂缝宽度可以被控制在一个容许裂缝宽度之内。弯矩曲率曲线或者由欧洲规范4-2中规定的抗弯刚度仍可被用于评估考虑到在这种桥梁上拉伸硬化作用的有效刚度。

Root system architecture(RsA)plays a pivotal role in efficient uptake of essential nutrients,such as phosphorous(P),nitrogen(N),and water In soils with heterogeneous nutrient distribution,root plasticity can optimize acquisition and plant ***,we present evidence that a constitutive RsA can confer benefits for sorghum grown under both sufficient and limiting growth *** studies,using P efficient sC103 and inefficient BTx635 sorghum cultivars,identified significant differences in root traits,with sC103 developing a larger root system with more and longer lateral roots,and enhanced shoot biomass,under both nutrient sufficient and deficient *** addition to this constitutive attribute,under P deficiency,both cultivars exhibited an initial increase in lateral root development;however,sC103 still maintained the larger root *** N deficiency and drought stress inhibited both root and shoot growth,for both sorghum cultivars,sC103 again maintained the better *** findings reveal that sC103,a P efficient sorghum cultivar,also exhibited enhanced growth performance under N deficiency and *** results provide evidence that this constitutive nature of RsA can provide an avenue for breeding nutrient-and drought-resilient crops.

Penetration of distribution generation (DG) into power system might disturb the existing fault diagnosis system. The detection of fault, fault classification, and random changes of direction of fault current cannot always be monitored and determined via on-line by conventional fault diagnosis system due to DG penetration. In this paper, a fault current characterization which based on fuzzy logic algorithm (FLA) is proposed. Fault detection, fault classification, and fault current direction are extracted after processing the measurement result of three-phase line current. The ability of fault current characterization based on FLA is reflected in directional overcurrent relay (DOCR) model. The proposed DOCR model has been validated in microgrid test system simulation in Matlab environment. The simulation result showed accurate result for different fault location and type. The proposed DOCR model can operate as common protection device (PD) unit as well as unit to improve the effectiveness of existing fault diagnosis system when DG is present.

Introduction:Lake Naivasha watershed is recognized for its contribution to Kenya’s national gross domestic product from the export of horticultural *** horticultural investment downstream depends mainly on the Lake’s *** fresh water lake lacks surface outflow,and its recharge depends on river Malewa flowing from upper catchment in Aberdare ***,unsustainable land use practices in the upper catchment has led to increasing sediment loading and pollution in river Malewa which affects water quality in the Lake *** for Environmental services(PEs)scheme has been initiated as an alternative incentive approach to motivate upstream smallholder farmers adopt sustainable land use practices for conservation of watershed *** paper analyzes willingness to accept pay(WTA)as proxy economic measure of environmental service(Es)value and determines socio-economic factors influencing farmers WTA for watershed *** analyzed the WTA and characterized WTA underlying socio-economic determinants in two PEs intervention sites in ***:The objective of this study was to estimate WTA and determine socio-economic factors influencing ***-structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 200 PEs farmers through face-to-face *** applied contingent valuation(CV)and logistic regression for data analyses to elicit farmer’s WTA estimates to implement PEs farm practices and determine socio-economic factors influencing WTA,***:Results revealed over 90% of respondents were farmers and 60% had primary level of *** household farm size was 2.305 acres and family size was six members on *** recorded a monthly marginal household increase in gross income from Kshs.6891.969(Us$68.92)before PEs to Kshs.11,011.48(Us$110.12)with PEs *** estimated annual lowest and highest WTA for PEs farm practices were at Kshs.8835(Us$88.35)for grass strip and Kshs.21,847.500(Us$218.48

Because of the high toxicityof botulinum toxin, "Fonterra’s botulinum toxin-tainted milk powder" has drawn extensive *** rising numbers of events are contractthrough consumption of foodeither naturally or intentionally contaminated,which is also a wake-up call about our existing detection systems for botulinum ***,the most existing techniques are time-consuming,laborious and ***,there is of great significance to both practical and strategic to the control of botulism and the improvement of food safety assurance system in our country to design and develop a fast,sensitive and easy to use POCT（Point of Care Test） platform for the diagnosis and identification of botulinum *** with the temperature gap-accelerated immunological detectiontechnique,an ultrafast POCT platform for the botulinum toxin is developed by using the high-affinity anti-botulinum toxin antibodies,the capillary force-driven microfluidic chip and integration of miniaturized detection platform *** analysis indicated that the limit of detection（LOD） was about 0.1ng/ml with the range from 0.1ng/ml to lμg/ml intoxin-spiked samples,the time of detection was in less than 20 *** proof-of-concept use apparatus provides new approaches for on-site screeningof botulinum poisoning.

We study graphene electrodes that can be used for contacting single molecules. The nanometer-scale gap is made by feedback controlled electroburning in few-layer graphene sheets. We analyze the time stability, and the influence of the temperature and gate voltage on the current flowing through the empty gaps. The electrodes are stable at room temper- ature for long periods of time. We show statistics of the relation between the initial resistance of the few-layer graphe- ne flakes and the final size of the gaps. We find that thicker flakes are more suitable for the fabrication of the elec-trodes.

A "Watershed-scale sediment Information Network" (WassIN), designed to complement UNEsCO’s International sedimentation Initiative, was endorsed as an initial project by the World Association for sedimentation and Erosion Research. WassIN is to address global fluvial-sediment information needs through a network approach based on consistent protocols for the collection, analysis, and storage of fluvial-sediment and ancillary information at smaller spatial scales than those of the International sedimentation Initiative. As a second step of implementation, it is proposed herein that the WassIN have a general structure of two components, (1) monitoring and data acquisition and (2) research. Monitoring is to be conducted in small watersheds, each of which has an established database for discharge of water and suspended sediment and possibly for bed load, bed material, and bed topography. Ideally, documented protocols have been used for collecting, analyzing, storing, and sharing the derivative data. The research component is to continue the collection and interpretation of data, to compare those data among candidate watersheds, and to determine gradients of fluxes and processes among the selected watersheds. To define gradients and evaluate processes, the initial watersheds will have several common attributes. Watersheds of the first group will be: (1) six to ten in number, (2) less than 1000 km2 in area, (3) generally in mid-latitudes of continents, and (4) of semiarid climate. Potential candidate watersheds presently include the Weany Creek Basin, northeastern Australia, the Zhi Fanggou catchment, northern China, the Eshtemoa Watershed, southern Israel, the Metsemotlhaba River Basin, Botswana, the Aiuaba Experimental Basin, Brazil, and the Walnut Gulch Experimental Watershed, southwestern United states.
