A subspace expanding technique(SET) is proposed to efficiently discover and find all zeros of nonlinear functions in multi-degree-of-freedom(MDOF) engineering systems by discretizing the space into smaller subdomains, which are called cells. The covering set of the cells is identified by parallel calculations with the root bracketing method. The covering set can be found first in a low-dimensional subspace, and then gradually extended to higher dimensional spaces with the introduction of more equations and variables into the calculations. The results show that the proposed SET is highlyefficient for finding zeros in high-dimensional spaces. The subdivision technique of the cell mapping method is further used to refine the covering set, and the obtained numerical results of zeros are accurate. Three examples are further carried out to verify the applicability of the proposed method, and very good results are achieved. It is believed that the proposed method will significantly enhance the ability to study the stability, bifurcation,and optimization problems in complex MDOF nonlinear dynamic systems.

The hybrid vibration isolation, which takes advantages of both the passive and active approaches, has been an important solution for space missions. The objective of this paper is to design a vibration isolation platform for payloads on spacecrafts with the robust, wide bandwidth, and multi-degree-of-freedom(MDOF). The proposed solution is based on a parallel mechanism with six voice-coil motors(VCMs) as the actuators. The linear active disturbance resistance control(LADRC) algorithm is used for the active control. Numerical simulation results show that the vibration isolation platform performs effectively over a wide bandwidth, and the resonance introduced by the passive isolation is eliminated. The system robustness to the uncertainties of the structure is also verified by simulation.

Analytical and numerical studies of multi-degree-of-freedom(MDOF) nonlinear stochastic or deterministic dynamic systems have long been a technical *** paper presents a highly-efficient method for determining the stationary probability density functions(PDFs) of MDOF nonlinear systems subjected to both additive and multiplicative Gaussian white noises. The proposed method takes advantages of the sufficient conditions of the reduced Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov(FPK) equation when constructing the trial solution. The assumed solution consists of the analytically constructed trial solutions satisfying the sufficient conditions and an exponential polynomial of the state variables, and delivers a high accuracy of the solution because the analytically constructed trial solutions capture the main characteristics of the nonlinear system. We also make use of the concept from the data-science and propose a symbolic integration over a hypercube to replace the numerical integrations in a higher-dimensional space, which has been regarded as the insurmountable difficulty in the classical method of weighted residuals or stochastic averaging for high-dimensional dynamic systems. Three illustrative examples of MDOF nonlinear systems are analyzed in detail. The accuracy of the numerical results is validated by comparison with the Monte Carlo simulation(MCS) or the available exact solution. Furthermore, we also show the substantial gain in the computational efficiency of the proposed method compared with the MCS.

Cells are the fundamental units of biological systems and exhibit unique development trajectories and molecular features. Our exploration of how the genomes orchestrate the formation and maintenance of each cell, and control the cellular phenotypes of various organismsis, is both captivating and intricate. Since the inception of the first single-cell RNA technology, technologies related to single-cell sequencing have experienced rapid advancements in recent years. These technologies have expanded horizontally to include single-cell genome, epigenome,proteome, and metabolome, while vertically, they have progressed to integrate multiple omics data and incorporate additional information such as spatial sc RNA-seq and CRISPR screening. Single-cell omics represent a groundbreaking advancement in the biomedical field,offering profound insights into the understanding of complex diseases, including cancers. Here, we comprehensively summarize recent advances in single-cell omics technologies, with a specific focus on the methodology section. This overview aims to guide researchers in selecting appropriate methods for single-cell sequencing and related data analysis.

Introduction:Alzheimer 's disease(AD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder and the primary cause of dementia. Considerable evidence supports the “amyloid hypothesis,” stating that the pathogenesis of AD is primarily caused by the deposition of amyloid-β(Aβ), which drives tau phosphorylation, neuroinflammation, and neurodegeneration in the brain. The amyloid hypothesis is strengthened by the significant and moderate benefit of lecanemab, a humanized antibody through an anti-amyloid mechanism,showing slowed clinical decline(van Dyck et al.,2023). The recent positive results of anti-amyloid trials have brought back focus on the amyloid hypothesis through biochemical, genetic, and pharmacological approaches(Zhang, 2023).

A remarkable marine heatwave,known as the“Blob”,occurred in the Northeast Pacific Ocean from late 2013 to early 2016,which displayed strong warm anomalies extending from the surface to a depth of 300 *** study employed two assimilation schemes based on the global Climate Forecast System of Nanjing University of Information Science(NUIST-CFS 1.0)to investigate the impact of ocean data assimilation on the seasonal prediction of this extreme marine *** sea surface temperature(SST)nudging scheme assimilates SST only,while the deterministic ensemble Kalman filter(EnKF)scheme assimilates observations from the surface to the deep *** latter notably improves the forecasting skill for subsurface temperature anomalies,especially at the depth of 100-300 m(the lower layer),outperforming the SST nudging *** excels in predicting both horizontal and vertical heat transport in the lower layer,contributing to improved forecasts of the lower-layer warming during the *** improvements stem from the assimilation of subsurface observational data,which are important in predicting the upper-ocean *** results suggest that assimilating ocean data with the EnKF scheme significantly enhances the accuracy in predicting subsurface temperature anomalies during the Blob and offers better understanding of its underlying mechanisms.

Boosting bidirectional sulfur conversion enabled by introducing boron-doped atoms and phosphorus vacancies in Ni2P for lithium-sulfur batteries

Lithium-sulfur （Li-S） batteries have gained great attention due to the high theoretical energy density and low cost,yet their further commercialization has been obstructed by the notorious shuttle effect and sluggish redox ***,we supply a strategy to optimize the electron structure of Ni2P by concurrently introducing B-doped atoms and P vacancies in Ni2P （Vp-B-Ni2P）,thereby enhancing the bidirectional sulfur *** study indicates that the simultaneous introduction of B-doped atoms and P vacancies in Ni2P causes the redistribution of electron around Ni atoms,bringing about the upward shift of d-band center of Ni atoms and effective d-p orbital hybridization between Ni atoms and sulfur species,thus strengthening the chemical anchoring for lithium polysulfides （LiPSs） as well as expediting the bidirectional conversion kinetics of sulfur ***,theoretical calculations reveal that the incorporation of B-doped atoms and P vacancies in Ni2P selectively promotes Li2S dissolution and nucleation ***,the Li-S batteries with Vp-B-Ni2P-separators present outstanding rate ability of 777 m A h g-1at 5 C and high areal capacity of 8.03 mA h cm-2under E/S of 5μL mg-1and sulfur loading of 7.20 mg *** work elucidates that introducing heteroatom and vacancy in metal phosphide collaboratively regulates the electron structure to accelerate bidirectional sulfur conversion.
