Rather than focusing on a focal spot,aberrated wavefields spread out over a *** a wave phenomenon,optical aberrations are analyzed in terms of waves propagating in the 3D *** this work,we report the observation of 2D longitudinal aberrated *** observation can be visualized by mapping the intensity distributions of surface plasmon polaritons(Spps)that propagate on a metal/air interface using leakage radiation *** orientation of the Spp beam is tweaked by tilting and translating the system to mimic aberrated beams,presenting known Seidel terms:defocus,spherical,coma,and tilt *** approach allows the examination of the longitudinal evolution of aberrated beams in a visual and rapid manner,in contrast to more complicated post-processing reconstructions.

pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is the 4p>thp> leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. The majority of patients are candidates only for palliative chemotherapy, which has proven largely ineffective in halting tumor progression. One proposed mechanism of chemoresistance involves signaling via the mesenchymal-epithelial transition factor protein (MET), a previously established pathway critical to cell proliferation and migration. Here, we review the literature to characterize the role of MET in the development of tumorigenesis, metastasis and chemoresistance, highlighting the potential of MET as a therapeutic target in pancreatic cancer. In this review, we characterize the role of c-Met in the development of tumorigenesis, metastasis and chemoresistance, highlighting the potential of c-Met as a therapeutic target in pancreatic cancer.

The main objective of a semaphore is to provide a correct and fluent vehicular mobility. Many countries around the world are using such devices in urban areas. However, the traditional semaphore operative ways are outdated. We report in a previous contribution the development of a methodology capable of improving the vehicular mobility by proposing a new green light interval based on road conditions with a CBR approach. However, this proposal should include whether it is needed to modify such light duration. To do this, the paper proposes the adaptation of an inductive decision tree helping to decide when the semaphore should try to fix the green light interval according to specific road requirements. Some experiments are conducted in a simulated environment to evaluate the pertinence of implementing a decision-making before the CBR methodology. For example, using the ID3 approach the decisions of the system improve almost 8% in a set of 10,000 experiments. Finally, some conclusions are drawn to emphasize the benefits of including this technique in a methodology to implement intelligent semaphores.

The proteins Inscuteable and Staufen are key components during asymmetric cell division of neuroblasts for the development of Drosophila melanogaster. Expression and purification of both proteins has been a difficult task for structure-function studies. Based on codon optimization for protein expression in Escherichia coli, we have been able to produce, in soluble form, the C-terminal domains of Inscuteable and Staufen as chimeras with N-terminal maltose binding protein tag that contains a rigid linker between them for feasible crystallization. In addition, using an optimized synthetic gene, corresponding to the amino acid region 250 - 623 of Inscuteable fused to glutathione-S-transferase, low-scale expression experiments showed production of soluble protein. Finally, eukaryotic expression of Inscuteable in the methylothropic yeast pichia pastoris failed to produce the Drosophila protein at detectable amounts, reinforcing the fact that E. coli still was the microorganism of choice for high-yield protein expression.

University dropout is a growing problem which, in recent years, is using computer techniques to assist in the detection process. The paper presents the evaluation of some prediction algorithms to detect a student with a high possibility of scholar desertion. The approach uses real data from past scholar periods to create a dataset with different information of the students (i.e., personal, economic, and academic records). The algorithms selected in the experimental phase were: j48 decision tree, K-near neighbors, and support vector machine. We use two similarity metrics to split the dataset with cases with at least 80% of similarity to evaluate each case. We use the data from 2010 to 2016 with real students’ information to predict if there exists the possibility of a real academic dropout in one test for a period. The results show that the j48 algorithm reaches a better performance in both experiments. Besides, the tree generated for each student is taken as a path of attention, reaching around 88% of effectiveness. Finally, the conclusions argue the contributions of the paper and propose a future line of research.
