Glycemic variability is a more sensitive assessment of glycemic health as opposed to traditional clinical *** considers all blood glucose concentrations over a given period to better account for glucose oscil-lations that occur and provides clinicians with insight into how individuals regulate and/or maintain their glycemic *** advancement of continuous glucose monitoring(CGM)allows for the measurement of free-living glucose concentrations while providing a more reliable assessment of treatment of dysregulated *** coupled with management of lifestyle behavioral factors,such as reduced sedentary behavior and increased physical activity and regular exercise,potentially offers a previously untapped method for promoting improved glycemic health through greater regulation of glucose *** aim of this review is to critically evaluate the evidence regarding the measurement of glycemic variability and summarize the current under-standing of the relationship between glycemic variability,sedentary behavior,physical activity,the influence of a single exercise session or repeated exercise sessions,and exercise *** review considers information pertaining to the strengths and limitations for measuring glycemic variability and provides insight into future study designs aimed at evaluating the relationship between sedentary behavior and physical activity with,as well as the influence of exercise on,glycemic variability as a primary outcome.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs’anti-pyretic and anti-inflammatory effects has led some individuals to theorize these medications may blunt core body temperature(Tc)increases during *** utilized a double-blind,randomized,and counterbalanced cross-over design to examine the effects of a 24-h naproxen dose(3–220 mg naproxen pills)and placebo(0 mg naproxen)on Tc and plasma interleukin-6(IL-6)concentrations during cycling in a hot or ambient ***(n=11;6 male,5 female;age=27.8±6.5 years,weight=79.1±17.9 kg,height=177±9.5 cm)completed 4 conditions:1)placebo and ambient(Control);2)placebo and heat(Heat);3)naproxen and ambient(Npx);and 4)naproxen and heat(NpxHeat).Dependent measures were taken before,during,and immediately after 90 min of cycling and then 3 h after ***,Tc significantly increased pre-(37.1±0.4℃)to post-cycling(38.2±0.3℃,F_(1.7,67.3)=150.5,p<0.001)and decreased during rest(37.0±0.3℃,F_(2.0,81.5)=201.6,p<0.001).Rate of change or maximum Tc were not significantly different between ***-6 increased pre-(0.54±0.06 pg/ml)to post-exercise(2.46±0.28 pg/ml,p<0.001)and remained significantly higher than pre-at 3 h post-(1.17±0.14 pg/ml,95%CI=-1.01 to-0.23,p=0.001).No significant IL-6 differences occurred between conditions.A 24-h,over-the-counter naproxen dose did not significantly affect Tc or IL-6 among males and females cycling in hot or ambient environments.

Using a double-blind,randomized and counterbalanced,cross-over design,we assessed naproxen's effects on gastrointestinal(GI)distress and performance in eleven volunteers(6 male,5 female).Participants completed 4 trials:1)placebo and ambient);2)placebo and heat;3)naproxen and ambient;and 4)naproxen and *** variables were one placebo or 220 mg naproxen pill every 8 h(h)for 24 h and ambient(22.7±1.8℃)or thermal environment(35.7±1.3℃).Participants cycled 80 min at a steady heart rate then 10 min for maximum *** exertion was measured throughout *** distress was assessed pre-,during,post-,3 h post-,and 24 h post-cycling using a GI index for upper,lower,and systemic *** statistically significant differences occurred between conditions at any time for GI symptoms or perceived exertion,distance,or heart rate during maximum effort.A 24 h naproxen dose did not significantly affect performance or cause more frequent or serious GI distress when participants were euhydrated and cycling at moderate intensity in a thermal environment.

Circadian clocks mediate adaptation to the 24-h world. In Arabidopsis, most circadian-clock components act in the nucleus as transcriptional regulators and generate rhythmic oscillations of transcript accumulation. In this review, we focus on post-transcriptional events that modulate the activity of circadian-clock components, such as phosphorylation, ubiquitination and proteasome-mediated degradation, changes in cellular localization, and protein-protein interactions. These processes have been found to be essential for circadian function, not only in plants, but also in other circadian systems. Moreover, light and clock signaling networks are highly interconnected. In the nucleus, light and clock compo- nents work together to generate transcriptional rhythms, leading to a general control of the timing of plant physiological processes.

Sodium modification of zirconia catalysts for ethanol coupling to 1-butanol

The influences of adding sodium to zirconia on the acid-base properties of the surface and on the catalytic conversion of ethanol and acetone were investigated. The rates of ethanol dehydration, dehydrogenation and coupling were evaluated in a fixed-bed flow reactor operating at temperatures from 613 to 673 K. The rate of acetone condensation was evaluated in the same reactor operating at 473-573 K. Addition of 1.0 wt% Na to ZrO2 decreased the rate of ethanol dehydration by more than an order of magnitude, which was consistent with a neutralization of acid sites evaluated by ammonia adsorption microcalorimetry. Addition of 1.0 wt% Na to ZrO2 also increased the base site density quantified by carbon dioxide adsorption microcalorimetry and the rate of acetone condensation. Although the rate of ethanol coupling was not increased by the addition of Na, the overall selectivity of ethanol to butanol was improved over the 1.0 wt% Na/ZrO2 sample because of the significant inhibition of ethanol dehydration.

Effect of TiN Particles and Grain Size on the Charpy Impact Transition Temperature in Steels

The toughness of ferritic steels is influenced by the grain size distribution, second phase, precipitates and coarse inclusions. In this work an examination of the effect of coarse TiN particles （〉0.5 μm） and ferrite grain size on the Charpy impact transition temperature in high strength low alloyed steels has been carried out. Steels with high Ti content （up to 0.045 wt%）, have been heat-treated and furnace cooled to obtain a ferrite-pearlite microstructure with different ferrite grain sizes. Coarse TiN particle size and ferrite grain size distributions have been measured and Charpy impact testing has been carried out. Scanning electron microscopy （SEM） analysis has been used to measure the grain boundary carbide thickness and to determine if the coarse TiN particles are acting as cleavage initiation sites by fractographic analysis. The Charpy ductile-brittle transition temperatures （DBTT） have been predicted using standard literature equations, and compared to the measured values. The relationship between the ferrite grain size and coarse TiN particle size and number density in terms of whether the coarse TiN particles act as effective cleavage initiation sites is discussed in this paper.

A linear regression model (LRM) for groundwater chemistry in and around the Vaniyambadi industrial area, Tamil Nadu, India

A linear regression model in conjunction with cluster analysis was applied to the groundwater quality parameters for the Vaniyambadi industrial area, Tamil Nadu, India. These physico-chemical parameters were collected from 25 wells by intensive groundwater sampling conducted during january 2010. All the major ions, pH and electrical conductivity were analyzed. The abundances of cations were in the order of Na jor clusters representing the influence of tanneries and geological formations in the study area, which confirmed the results of major ion chemistry.

Numerical Simulation of Single Microparticle Trajectory in an Electrodynamic Balance

The theoretical results have firstly demonstrated the existence of the particle oscillations and their characteristics especially of the springpoint oscillation at large amplitude. And through the comparisons of theoretical and experimental trajectories the adopted motion equation has proved to be able to rigorously describe the particle motion in non-Stokes region-the shape of trajectory and frequency characteristics are fairly consistent and the deviations of amplitude can usually be less than 10%.

Early Cretaceous overprinting of the Mesozoic Daqing Shan fold-and-thrust belt by the Hohhot metamorphic core complex,Inner Mongolia,China

The Early Cretaceous Hohhot metamorphic core complex （mcc） of the Daqing Shan （Mtns.） of central Inner Mongolia is among the best exposed and most spectacular of the spatially isolated mcc＇s that developed within the northern edge of the North China ＂craton＂. All of these mcc＇s were formed within the basement of a Late Paleozoic Andean-style arc and across older Mesozoic fold-and-thrust belts of variable age and tectonic vergence. The master Hohhot detachment fault roots southwards within the southem margin of the Daqing Shan for an along-strike distance of at least 120 km. Its geometry in the range to the north is complicated by interference patterns between （1） primary, large-scale NW-SE-trend- ing convex and concave fault corrugations and （2） secondary ENE-WSW-trending antiforms and syn- forms that folded the detachment in its late kinematic history. As in the Whipple Mtns. of California, the Hohhot master detachment is not of the Wernicke （1981） simple rooted type; instead, it was spawned from a mid-crustal shear zone, the top of which is preserved as a mylonitic front within Carboniferous metasedimentary rocks in its exhumed lower plate. 4~Ar-39Ar dating of siliceous volcanic rocks in basal sections of now isolated supradetachment basins suggest that crustal extension began at ca. 127 Ma, although lower-plate mylonitic rocks were not exposed to erosion until after ca. 119 Ma. Essentially synchronous cooling of bornblende, biotite, and muscovite in footwall mylonitic gneisses indicates very rapid exhumation and at ca. 122--120 Ma. Contrary to several recent reports, the master detachment clearly cuts across and dismembers older, north-directed thrust sheets of the Daqing Shah foreland fold-and-thrust belt. Folded and thrust-faulted basalts within its foredeep strata are as young as 132.6 ± 2.4 Ma, thus defining within 5--6 Ma the regional tectonic transition between crustal contraction and profound crustal extension.
