environmental investigation of bio-modification of steel slag through microbially induced carbonate precipitation

Steel slag(SS)is one of byproduct of steel manufacture *** environmental concerns of SS may limit their re-use in different *** goal of this study was to investigate the leaching behavior of metals from SS before and after treated by microbially induced carbonate precipitation(MICP).Toxicity characteristic leaching procedure,synthetic precipitation leaching procedure and water leaching tests were performed to evaluate the leaching behavior of major elements(Fe,Mg and Ca)and trace elements(Ba,Cu and Mn)in three *** concentrations of leaching metals increased with the content of *** it reached the peak concentration,the leaching concentration decreased with the content of *** leachability of all elements concerned in this study was below 0.5%.The carbonate generated from the MICP process contributed to the low leachability of *** bio-modified by MICP process,the leaching concentrations of Ba from TCLP,SPLP and WLT tests were below 2.0 mg/L,which was the limit in drinking water regulated by *** concentrations of Cu leached out from MICP-treated SS-sand samples were below 1.3 mg/L which is the limit regulated by national secondary drinking *** with the regulations of *** and Mississippi Department of environment Quality(MDeQ),MICP-treated samples were classified as non-hazardous materials with respects to the leaching of ***,maximum contaminant limits regulated by *** states that MICP-treated SS are eco-friendly materials that can be reused as construction materials.

Porous silica nano-flowers stabilized Pt-Pd bimetallic nanoparticles as heterogeneous catalyst for efficiently synthesizing guaiacol from 2-methoxycyclohexanol

Porous silica nano-flowers(KCC-1)immobilized Pt-Pd alloy NPs(Pt-Pd/KCC-1)with different mass ratios of Pd and Pt were successfully prepared by a facile in situ one-step reduction,using hydrazinium hydroxide as a reducing *** as-synthesized silica nanospheres possess radial fibers with a distance of 15 nm,exhibiting a high specific surface area(443.56 m^(2)·g^(-1)).Meanwhile,the obtained Pt-Pd alloy NPs are uniformly dispersed on the silica surface with a metallic particle size of 4-6 nm,which exist as metallic Pd and Pt on the surface of monodisperse KCC-1,showing the transfer of electrons from Pd to *** as-synthesized 2.5%Pt-2.5%Pd/KCC-1 exhibited excellent catalytic activity and stability for the continuous dehydrogenation of 2-methoxycyclohexanol to prepare *** with Pt or Pd single metal supported catalysts,the obtained 2.5%Pt-2.5%Pd/KCC-1 shows 97.2%conversion rate of 2-methoxycyclohexanol and 76.8%selectivity for guaiacol,which attributed to the significant synergistic effect of bimetallic Pt-Pd alloy ***,turn over frequency value of the obtained 2.5%Pt-2.5%Pd/KCC-1 NPs achieved 4.36 s^(-1),showing higher catalytic efficiency than other two monometallic *** pathways of dehydro-aromatization of 2-methoxycyclohexanol over the obtained catalyst are ***,the obtained 2.5%Pt-2.5%Pd/KCC-1 NPs prove their potential in the dehydrogenation of 2-methoxycyclohexanol,while the kinetics and mechanistic study of the dehydrogenation reaction over the catalyst in a continuous fixed-bed reactor may provide valuable information for the development of green,outstanding and powerful synthetic pathway of guaiacol.

Divergent synthesis of four isomers of 6,7-dihydroxy-3,7-dimethyloct-2-enoic acid,esters and evaluation for the antifungal activity

The four isomers of 6,7-dihydroxy-3,7-dimethyloct-2-enoic acid 2 were synthesized via the selective direct Sharpless asymmetry dihydroxylation of geraniol as the key step in 35.0%-48.0% overall yields with91.9%-97.7% ee values for esters 4 and 31,3%-36.4% overall yields with 90.3-97.5% ee values for acids 2 using cis-and trans-geraniol as raw materials. Their structures were characterized by;H,;C NMR and HR-eSI-MS data. The in vivo bioassay results showed that the chiral acid（Z, S）-2 was a good lead compound with 80%-100% inhibitory rates against P. cubensis, e. graminis, P. sorghi and C. gloeosporioides at the concentration of 400 μg/mL.

Nitrogen doping and graphitization tuning coupled hard carbon for superior potassium-ion storage

Hard carbon material is one of the most promising anode materials for potassium ion batteries(PIBs)due to its distinct disordered and non-expandable ***,the intrinsically disordered microarchitecture of hard carbon results in low electric conductivity and poor rate ***,nitrogendoped and partially graphitized hard carbons(NGHCs)derived from commercial coordination compound precursor-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid(eDTA)disodium cobalt salt hydrate are designed and prepared as high-performance PIBs anode *** means of a facile annealing method,nitrogen elements and graphitic domains can be controllably introduced to *** resulting NGHCs show structural merits of mesoporous construction,nitrogen doping and homogeneous graphitic domains,which ensures fast kinetics and electron *** in anode for PIBs,NGHCs exhibit robust rate capability with high reversible capacity of 298.8 m Ah g^-1 at 50 m A g^-1,and stable cycle stability of 137.6 mAh g^-1 at 500 m A g^-1 after 1000 ***,the ex situ Raman spectra reveal a mixture"adsorption-intercalation mechanism"for potassium storage of *** importantly,full PIBs by pairing with perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride(PTCDA)cathode demonstrate the promising potential of practical *** terms of commercial precursor,facile synthesis and long cycle lifespan,NGHCs represent a brilliant prospect for practical large-scale applications.

effects of sweep angles on turbulent separation behaviors induced by blunt fin

An experimental study was conducted on turbulent separation behaviors induced by blunt fins with different sweep angles at Mach number *** Nano-particle based Planar Laser Scattering technique(NPLS)was applied to visualize the flowfield,complemented by pressure *** angles of the fins were 10°,20°,...,60°,with the same leading edge diameter of 10 *** structures of the interference flowfield induced by blunt fins have been obtained,including the shock systems and *** was found that the features and shapes of the detached shock depended on sweep *** sweep anglee detached shock appeared as the form of trailing shock,and the supersonic jet with its reflection could be *** detached shock would be curved for the 50°and 60°fins and became a transmitted *** Scale-Invariant Feature Transform(SIFT)was successfully applied to obtain the velocity field from NPLS images,and the extent of the separated region was found to decrease with increasing sweep *** separation appeared as sweep angle>30°.Two peak values were detected on the centerline pressure *** first peak did not rely on sweep angle,while the second peak value decreased with increasing sweep angle.

Coupled funnel control for supersonic tailless aerial vehicle on penetrating counter air

Supersonic Tailless Aerial Vehicles(STAVs)will become an essential force in Penetrating Counter Air(PCA),but STAVs do not have the traditional horizontal and vertical tails,making pitch and yaw control *** attack angle and the sideslip angle need to be limited to ensure that the engine inlet and the aerodynamic rudder at the rear of the vehicle can work properly,which is the so-called security *** addition,the tracking error of the aerodynamic angle needs to be limited to achieve effective attitude control or high-accuracy tracking of trajectories,which is the so-called performance *** this end,an attitude control method that meets the needs of PCA has been devised,based on constraint definition,coupled constraints handling,and control law ***,mathematical descriptions of the security constraints,performance constraints,and control constraints are ***,two treatment methods,coupled command filter and coupled funnel control are proposed for the aerodynamic angle coupled constraint ***,based on Nonlinear Dynamic Inverse(NDI)design,the coupled funnel controller is designed and validated by simulation for two typical mission scenarios,high-altitude penetration and low-altitude surprise *** proposed control method not only satisfies the security and performance constraints of STAV attitude control but also is highly robust.

Quantum Spin Liquid Phase in the Shastry–Sutherland Model Detected by an Improved Level Spectroscopic Method

We study the spin-1/2 two-dimensional Shastry–Sutherland spin model by exact diagonalization of clusters with periodic boundary conditions, developing an improved level spectroscopic technique using energy gaps between states with different quantum numbers. The crossing points of some of the relative(composite) gaps have much weaker finite-size drifts than the normally used gaps defined only with respect to the ground state, thus allowing precise determination of quantum critical points even with small clusters. Our results support the picture of a spin liquid phase intervening between the well-known plaquette-singlet and antiferromagnetic ground states, with phase boundaries in almost perfect agreement with a recent density matrix renormalization group study, where much larger cylindrical lattices were used [j. Yang et al., Phys. Rev. B 105, L060409(2022)]. The method of using composite low-energy gaps to reduce scaling corrections has potentially broad applications in numerical studies of quantum critical phenomena.

Preparation and properties of chitosan-VC loaded nano-silver-doped natural latex

As one kind of the modern medical devices, various catheters are commonly used in interventional therapy, but they are prone to infection in the human body, which is a defect in clinical treatment. At present, the commonly used catheters are mostly treated with antibacterial coatings on the rubber catheters. However, there are some problems for their application, such as, easy peeling of the coating and poor durability of antibacterial *** order to solve the above problems, a kind of nano-silver antibacterial agent reduced and stabilized by Vitamin C modified chitosan was prepared, and then added into natural latex to produce an antibacterial latex with antibacterial properties from the inside to the outside. The chemical properties, mechanical properties and antibacterial properties of the samples were characterized, and the antibacterial mechanism of VC modified chitosan/nano silver was analyzed. The results showed that the antibacterial rates of the latex samples against e. coli and S. aureus reached 97.38% and 98.45%.

Degradation of kanamycin from production wastewater with high-concentration organic matrices by hydrothermal treatment

It is known that many kinds of fermentative antibiotics can be removed by temperatureenhanced hydrolysis from production wastewater based on their easy-to-hydrolyze ***,a few aminoglycosides are hard to hydrolyze below 100℃ because of their stability expressed by high molecular energy gap(e).Herein,removal of hard-to-hydrolyze kanamycin residue from production wastewater by hydrothermal treatment at subcritical temperatures was *** results showed the reaction temperature had a significant impact on kanamycin *** degradation half-life(t1/2)was shortened by 87.17-fold when the hydrothermal treatment temperature was increased from 100℃ to 180℃.The t1/2 of kanamycin in the N2 process was extended by 1.08-1.34-fold compared to that of the corresponding air process at reaction temperatures of 140-180℃,indicating that the reactions during hydrothermal treatment process mainly include oxidation and ***,the contribution of hydrolysis was calculated as 75%-98%,which showed hydrolysis played a major role during the process,providing possibilities for the removal of kanamycin from production wastewaters with high-concentration organic *** transformation products with lower antibacterial activity than kanamycin were identified using UPLC-QTOF-MS *** importantly,hydrothermal treatment could remove 97.9%of antibacterial activity(kanamycin eQ,1,109 mg/L)from actual production wastewater with CODCr around 100,000 mg/***,the methane production yield in anaerobic inhibition tests could be increased about 2.3 times by adopting the hydrothermal ***,it is concluded that hydrothermal treatment as a pretreatment technology is an efficient method for removing high-concentration hard-to-hydrolyze antibiotic residues from wastewater with high-concentration organic matrices.

Crystallization-induced phosphorescence, remarkable mechanochromism, and grinding enhanced emission of benzophenone-aromatic amine conjugates

Pure organic luminogens with efficient room temperature phosphorescence（RTP） and remarkable mechanochromism are highly desired in view of their fundamental significance and technical applications. Herein, four twisted pure organic luminogens based on benzophenone and aromatic amines were synthesized and their photophysical properties were thoroughly investigated. They exhibit crystallization-induced phosphorescence（CIP）, giving bright fluorescence and phosphorescence dual emission in crystals. Upon grinding, they become amorphous and emit predominantly red-shifted fluorescence, demonstrating remarkable mechanochromism. Furthermore, three of them even demonstrate greatly enhanced emission upon grinding, which is rarely observed in twisted D-A structured luminogens.
