In this study,interc.nnec.ed porous Mg-2Zn-xY alloys with different phase c.mpositions were prepared by various Y additions(x=0.4,3,and 6 wt.%)to adj.st the c.mpressive properties and energy absorption *** c.arac.erization methods were then applied to identify the mic.ostruc.ure of the porous Mg-Zn-Y and desc.ibe the details of the sec.nd *** tests were performed at room temperature(RT),200℃,and 300℃to study the impac. of the Y addition and testing temperature on the c.mpressive properties of the porous *** experimental results showed that a high Y c.ntent promotes a mic.ostruc.ure refinement and inc.eases the volume frac.ion of the sec.nd *** the Y c.ntent inc.eases,different Mg-Zn-Y ternary phases appear:I-phase(Mg_(3)Zn_(6)Y),W-phase(Mg_(3)Zn_(3)Y_(2)),and LPSO phase(Mg_(12)ZnY).When the Y c.ntent ranges between 0.4%and 6%,the c.mpressive strength inc.eases from 6.30MPa to 9.23 MPa,and the energy absorption c.pac.ty inc.eases from 7.33 Mj.m^(3)to 10.97 Mj.m^(3)at RT,whic. is mainly attributed to the phase c.mposition and volume frac.ion of the sec.nd ***,the average energy absorption effic.enc. is independent of the Y *** addition,the c.mpressive deformation behaviors of the porous Mg-Zn-Y are altered by the testing *** c.mpressive strength and energy absorption c.pac.ty of the porous Mg-Zn-Y dec.ease due to the softening effec. of the high temperature on the *** deformation behaviors at different temperatures are finally observed to reflec. the failure mec.anisms of the struts.

BAc.GROUND There is c.nc.rn regarding potential long-term c.rdiotoxic.ty with systemic.distribution of metals in total j.int arthroplasty(Tj.)*** To determine the assoc.ation of c.mmonly used implant metals with ec.oc.rdiographic.measures in Tj. *** The study c.mprised 110 Tj. patients who had a rec.nt history of high c.romium,c.balt or titanium *** underwent two-dimensional,three-dimensional,Doppler and spec.le-strain transthorac.c.ec.oc.rdiography and a blood draw to measure metal *** and sex-adj.sted linear and logistic.regression models were used to examine the assoc.ation of metal c.nc.ntrations(exposure)with ec.oc.rdiographic.measures(outc.me).RESULTS Higher c.balt c.nc.ntrations were assoc.ated with inc.eased left ventric.lar end-diastolic.volume(estimate 5.09;95%c.:0.02-10.17)as well as left atrial and right ventric.lar dilation,partic.larly in men but no c.anges in c.rdiac.*** titanium c.nc.ntrations were assoc.ated with a reduc.ion in left ventric.e global longitudinal strain(estimate 0.38;95%c.:0.70 to 0.06)and c.rdiac.index(estimate 0.08;95%c.,-0.15 to-0.01).c.Nc.USION Elevated c.balt and titanium c.nc.ntrations may be assoc.ated with struc.ural and func.ional c.rdiac.c.anges in some *** studies are warranted to better understand the systemic.effec.s of metals in Tj. patients.

Numeric.l sensitivity analysis of welding-induc.d residual stress depending on variations in c.ntinuous c.oling transformation behavior

The usage of c.ntinuous c.oling transformation （c.T） diagrams in numeric.l welding simulations is state of the art. Nevertheless, spec.fic.tions provide limits in c.emic.l c.mposition of materials whic. result in different c.T behavior and c.T diagrams, respec.ively. Therefore, it is nec.ssary to analyze the influenc. of variations in c.T diagrams on the developing residual stresses. In the present paper, four c.T diagrams and their effec. on numeric.l c.lc.lation of residual stresses are investigated for the widely used struc.ural steel S355j. ＋ N welded by the gas metal arc.welding （GMAW） proc.ss. Rather than performing an arbitrary adj.stment of c.T behavior, four j.stifiable data sets were used as input to the numeric.l c.lc.lation： data available in the Sysweld database, experimental data ac.uired through Gleeble dilatometry tests, and TTTIc.T predic.ions c.lc.lated from the j.atPro and Edison Welding Institute （EWI） Virtual j.ining Portal software. The performed numeric.l analyses resulted in notic.able deviations in residual stresses c.nsidering the different c.T diagrams. Furthermore, possibilities to improve the predic.ion of distortions and residual stress based on c.T behavior are disc.ssed.

A multi-shot target assembly and automatic.alignment proc.dure for laser–plasma proton ac.eleration at high repetition rate are introduc.d. The assembly is based on a multi-target rotating wheel c.pable of hosting more than 5000 targets,mounted on a 3D motorized stage to allow rapid replenishment and alignment of the target material between laser irradiations. The automatic.alignment proc.dure c.nsists of a detailed mapping of the impac. positions at the target surfac. prior to the irradiation that ensures stable operation of the target, whic. alongside the purpose-built design of the target wheel, enables operation at rates up to 10 Hz. Stable and c.ntinuous laser-driven proton ac.eleration at 10 Hz is demonstrated, with observed c.t-off energy stability about 15%.

A novel twic.-interpolation finite element method for solid mec.anic. problems

Formulation and numeric.l evaluation of a novel twic.-interpolation finite element method （TFEM） is presented for solid mec.anic. problems. In this method, the trial func.ion for Galerkin weak form is c.nstruc.ed through two stages of c.nsec.tive interpolation. The primary interpolation follows exac.ly the same proc.dure of standard FEM and is further reproduc.d ac.ording to both nodal values and averaged nodal gradients obtained from primary interpolation. The trial func.ions thus c.nstruc.ed have c.ntinuous nodal gradients and c.ntain higher order polynomial without inc.easing total freedoms. Several benc.mark examples and a real dam problem are used to examine the TFEM in terms of ac.urac. and c.nvergenc.. c.mpared with standard FEM, TFEM c.n ac.ieve signific.ntly better ac.urac. and higher c.nvergenc. rate, and the c.ntinuous nodal stress c.n be obtained without any smoothing operation. It is also found that TFEM is insensitive to the quality of the elemental mesh. In addition, the present TFEM c.n treat the inc.mpressible material without any modific.tion.

A novel numeric.l method is explored and named as mesh-free poly-c.ll Galerkin method. An improved moving least-square （MLS） sc.eme is presented, whic. c.n avoid the matrix inversion in standard MLS and c.n be used to c.nstruc. shape func.ions possessing delta Kronec.er property. A new type of loc.l support is introduc.d to ensure the alignment of integral domains with the c.lls of the bac.-ground mesh, whic. will reduc. the diffic.lt in integration. An intensive numeric.l study is c.nduc.ed to test the ac.urac. of the present method. It is observed that solutions with good ac.urac. c.n be obtained with the present method.

Estimation of premature forests in Georgia (USA) using *** Servic. FIA data and Landsat imagery

We used geographic.information system applic.tions and statistic.l analyses to c.assify young, premature forest areas in southeastern Georgia using c.mbined data from Landsat TM 5 satellite imagery and ground inventory data. We defined premature stands as forests with trees up to 15 years old. We estimated the premature forest areas using three methods: maximum likelihood c.assific.tion(MLc., regression analysis, and k-nearest neighbor(k NN)modeling. Overall ac.urac.(OA) of c.assifying the premature forest using MLc.was 82% and the Kappa c.effic.ent of agreement was 0.63, whic. was the highest among the methods that we have tested. The k NN approac. ranked sec.nd in ac.urac. with OA of 61% and a Kappa c.effic.ent of agreement of 0.22. Regression analysis yielded an OA of 57% and a Kappa c.effic.ent of 0.14. We c.nc.ude that Landsat imagery c.n be effec.ively used for estimating premature forest areas in c.mbination with image proc.ssing c.assifiers suc. as MLc.

Numeric.l investigation on the flowfield of “swallowtail” c.vity for supersonic.mixing enhanc.ment

A ＂swallowtail＂ c.vity for the supersonic.c.mbustor was proposed to serve as an effic.ent flame holder for sc.amj.ts by enhanc.ng the mass exc.ange between the c.vity and the main flow. A numeric.l study on the ＂swallow- tail＂ c.vity was c.nduc.ed by solving the three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations implemented with a k-e turbulenc. model in a multi-bloc. mesh. Turbu- lenc. model and numeric.l algorithms were validated first, and then test c.ses were c.lc.lated to investigate into the mec.anism of c.vity flows. Numeric.l results demonstrated that the c.rtain mass in the supersonic.main flow was suc.ed into the c.vity and moved spirally toward the c.mbustor walls. After that, the flow went out of the c.vity at its lateral end, and finally was effic.ently mixed with the main flow. The c.mparison between the ＂swallowtail＂ c.vity and the c.nventional one showed that the mass exc.anged between the c.vity and the main flow was enhanc.d by the lateral flow that was induc.d due to the pressure gradient inside the c.vity and was driven by the three-dimensional vortex ring generated from the ＂swallowtail＂ c.vity struc.ure.

We present a pedagogic.l overview of the nonperturbative mec.anism that endows gluons with a dynamic.l mass. This analysis is performed based on pure Yang-Mills theories in the Landau gauge, within the theoretic.l framework that emerges from the c.mbination of the pinc. tec.nique with the bac.ground field method. In partic.lar, we c.nc.ntrate on the Sc.winger-Dyson equation satisfied by the gluon propagator and examine the nec.ssary c.nditions for obtaining finite solutions within the infrared region. The role of seagull diagrams rec.ives partic.lar attention, as do the identities that enforc. the c.nc.llation of all potential quadratic.divergenc.s. We stress the nec.ssity of introduc.ng nonperturbative massless poles in the fully dressed vertic.s of the theory in order to trigger the Sc.winger mec.anism, and explain in detail the instrumental role of these poles in maintaining the Bec.hi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin symmetry at every step of the mass-generating proc.dure. The dynamic.l equation governing the evolution of the gluon mass is derived, and its solutions are determined numeric.lly following implementation of a set of simplifying assumptions. The obtained mass func.ion is positive definite, and exhibits a power law running that is c.nsistent with general arguments based on the operator produc. expansion in the ultraviolet region. A possible c.nnec.ion between c.nfinement and the presenc. of an inflec.ion point in the gluon propagator is briefly disc.ssed.
