Enhancing production m.nitoring: A back allocation m.thodology to estim.te well flow rates and assist well test scheduling

Production flow rates are crucial to m.ke operational decisions, m.nitor, m.nage, and optim.ze oil and gas fields. Flow rates also have a financial im.ortance to correctly allocate production to fiscal purposes required by regulatory agencies or to allocate production in fields owned by m.ltiple operators. Despite its significance, usually only the total field production is m.asured in real tim., which requires an alternative way to estim.te wells' production. To address these challenges, this work presents a back allocation m.thodology that leverages real-tim. instrum.ntation, sim.lations, algorithm., and m.them.tical program.ing m.deling to enhance well m.nitoring and assist in well test scheduling. The m.thodology com.rises four m.dules: sim.lation, classification, error calculation, and optim.zation. These m.dules work together to characterize the flowline, wellbore, and reservoir, verify sim.lation outputs, m.nim.ze errors, and calculate flow rates while honoring the total platform.flow rate. The well status generated through the classification m.dule provides valuable inform.tion about the current condition of each well (i.e. if the well is deviating from.the latest well test param.ters), aiding in decision-m.king for well testing scheduling and prioritizing. The effectiveness of the m.thodology is dem.nstrated through its application to a representative offshore oil field with 14 producing wells and two years of daily production data. The results highlight the robustness of the m.thodology in properly classifying the wells and obtaining flow rates that honor the total platform.flow rate. Furtherm.re, the m.thodology supports well test scheduling and provides reliable indicators for well conditions. Obj.ctive: In previous studies, laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectom. (LPD) has dem.nstrated safety and potential benefits over open pancreaticoduodenectom. (OPD) for pancreatic adenocarcinom. (PDAC). After perform.ng both LPD and OPD procedures interchangeably in routine practice for a decade, the outcom.s of LPD versus OPD for PDAC were analyzed and com.ared at a single institution. Our prim.ry aim.was to com.are features of LPD and OPD in PDAC patients so that the suitable surgical approach m.y be chosen for each individual. m.thods: From.j.nuary 2010 through Decem.er 2020, all patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectom. (PD) were identified, and inform.tion was collected prospectively. At a single institution, PD was perform.d on 589 patients, of whom.347 were OPD patients and 242 were LPD patients. After excluding those who underwent pancreatectom. for indications other than PDAC, total pancreatectom., m.j.r vascular or concom.tant organ resection, there were 237 patients (OPD = 157, LPD = 80). Then propensity score m.tching was com.leted to analyze 77 OPD patients versus 77 LPD patients to create a sim.lar group of patients who underwent either LPD or OPD for PDAC. A com.arison of perioperative data and 90-day outcom.s with subsequent statistical analysis was perform.d. Results: Operative tim. (491 m.n vs. 281 m.n, p m.tying (15.6% vs. 3.9%, p = 0.027) were higher for LPD than OPD respectively but overall m.rbidity was sim.lar. Blood loss, m.rtality and post-pancreatectom. hem.rrhage were also sim.lar for both groups, but total costs ($60,245 vs. $50,900, p = 0.002) were significantly higher for LPD than OPD. Recurrence and overall survival were sim.lar for the two groups. Conclusion: In our experience, LPD does not offer any advantages over OPD for PDAC and is associated with a higher rate of com.lications and costs. © 2024 Zhej.ang University

In the m.dern era of a growing population, it is arduous for hum.ns to m.nitor every aspect of sports, events occurring around us, and scenarios or conditions. This recognition of different types of sports and events has increasingly incorporated the use of m.chine learning and artificial intelligence. This research focuses on detecting and recognizing events in sequential photos characterized by several factors, including the size, location, and position of people’s body parts in those pictures, and the influence around those people. Com.on approaches utilized, here are feature descriptors such as m.ER (m.xim.lly Stable Extrem.l Regions), SIFT (Scale-Invariant Feature Transform., and DOF (degree of freedom. between the j.int points are applied to the skeleton points. m.reover, for the sam. purposes, other features such as BRISK (Binary Robust Invariant Scalable Keypoints), ORB (Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF), and HOG (Histogram.of Oriented Gradients) are applied on full body or silhouettes. The integration of these techniques increases the discrim.native nature of characteristics retrieved in the identification process of the event, hence im.roving the efficiency and reliability of the entire procedure. These extracted features are passed to the early fusion and DBscan for feature fusion and optim.zation. Then deep belief, network is em.loyed for recognition. Experim.ntal results dem.nstrate a separate experim.nt’s detection average recognition rate of 87% in the Hm.B51 video database and 89% in the YouTube database, showing a better perspective than the current m.thods in sports and event identification. © 2024 The Authors. Gam.a-ray bursts (GRBs) are extrem.ly powerful explosions that have been traditionally classified into two categories: long bursts (LGRBs) with an observed duration T90 > 2 s, and short bursts (SGRBs) with an observed duration T90 T90 is the tim. interval during which 90% of the fluence is detected. LGRBs are believed to em.nate from.the core-collapse of m.ssive stars, while SGRBs are believed to result from.the m.rging of two com.act obj.cts, like two neutron stars. Because LGRBs are produced by the violent death of m.ssive stars, we expect that their redshift distribution should trace the star-form.tion rate (SFR). The purpose of our study is to investigate the extent to which the redshift distribution of LGRBs follows and reflects the SFR. We use a sam.le of 370 LGRBs taken from.the Swift catalog, and we investigate different m.dels for the LGRB redshift distribution. We also carry out m.nte Carlo sim.lations to check the consistency of our results. Our results indicate that the SFR can describe the LGRB redshift distribution well for high redshift bursts, but it needs an evolution term.to fit the distribution well at low redshift.

NORE1A (RASSF5) is a tum.r suppressor of the RASSF fam.ly that is often down-regulated in hum.n tum.rs. NORE1A has m.ltiple roles in controlling cellular hom.ostasis, one of them.being regulating levels of β-catenin by binding and m.dulating the ubiquitin ligase substrate recognition factor β-TrCP. β-catenin is a m.j.r executor of the Wnt pathway. The ubiquitin SCF-β-TrCP ligase com.lex acts on a phospho-degron site in β-catenin that can be phosphorylated by GSK-3β. We now show that in addition to binding β-TrCP, NORE1A also prom.tes the phosphorylation of the β-catenin phospho-degron by com.lexing with the kinase GSK-3β. Indeed, NORE1A enhances the form.tion of a GSK-3β/β-TrCP com.lex. A structural m.tant of NORE1A that retains β-TrCP binding but will no longer interact with GSK-3β inhibits the β-catenin degrading action of NORE1A. The GSK-3β interaction with NORE1A plays an im.ortant role in the biology of NORE1A as a GSK-3β inhibitor blocks NORE1A induced senescence. Thus, we identify a new role for the tum.r suppressor NORE1A: The regulation of GSK-3β. GSK-3β has m.ny other substrates including m.ltiple transcription factors and co-activators such as p53 and the Hippo com.onent TAZ. The work im.lies that NORE1A m.y be able to influence all of them.via this new kinase scaffolding interaction.

Obj.ctive: Robot-assisted pedicle screw insertion has recently em.rged as an alternative to the traditional free-hand technique. However, discrepancies in the accuracy of screw placem.nt between the 2 m.thods have been highlighted by som. com.arative studies. This m.ta-analysis was conducted to synthesize evidence com.aring these techniques. m.thods: Searches were conducted in 5 electronic databases adhering to specific eligibility criteria for random.zed and observational studies. The data were analyzed using Revm.n software and the results are presented as odds ratios (ORs), m.an differences, or standard m.an differences (Sm.s) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Our analysis included 12 studies (7 random.zed trials and 5 observational studies, involving 883 patients and 4903 screws). Results: The results dem.nstrated a higher rate of Grade A Gertzbein and Robbins pedicle placem.nt score (OR: 1.77; 95% CI: 1.10–2.87), a lower rate of revision surgeries (OR: 0.21; 95% CI: 0.09–0.52), and a shorter radiation exposure duration (Sm. = −1.38, 95% CI: −2.32 to −0.44) in the robot-assisted group com.ared with the free-hand group. Nonetheless, the length of hospital stay, volum. of intraoperative blood loss, postoperative visual analogue scale scores for back pain, and rate of wound infection were sim.lar between the 2 groups. Significant heterogeneity was observed in som. outcom.s. Conclusion: Com.ared with the free-hand m.thod, the robot-assisted technique provides greater accuracy and reduced radiation exposure. The efficacy of the robot-assisted technique is expected to im.rove further as experience with its use in surgery grows. © 2024 Zhej.ang University
