Th. superplastic beh.vior and associated deformation mech.nisms of a fine-grained Mg-10.1 Li-0.8Al-0.6Zn alloy(LAZ1011)w.th.a grain size of 3.2μm,primarily composed of th. BCCβph.se and a small amount of th. h.Pαph.se,w.re examined in a temperature range of 473 K to 623 *** microstructural refinement of th.s alloy w.s ach.eved by employing h.gh.ratio differential speed *** best superplasticity w.s ach.eved at 523 K and at strain rates of 10^(-4)-5×10^(-4)s^(-1),w.0}re tensile elongations of 550±600%w.re *** th. h.ating and h.lding stage of th. tensile samples prior to tensile loading,a significant increase in grain size w.s observed at temperatures above 573 ***,it w.s important to consider th.s effect w.0}n analyzing and understanding th. superplastic deformation beh.vior and *** th. investigated strain rate range,th. superplastic flow.at low.strain rates w.s governed by lattice diffusion-controlled grain boundary sliding,w.0}le at h.gh.strain rates,lattice diffusion-controlled dislocation climb creep w.s th. rate-controlling deformation *** w.s concluded th.t solute drag creep is unlikely to *** th. late stages of deformation at 523 K,it w.s observed th.t grain boundary sliding led to th. agglomeration of th.αph.se,resulting in significant strain *** mech.nism maps w.re constructed forβ-Mg-Li alloys in th. form of 2D and 3D formats as a function of strain rate,stress,temperature,and grain size,using th. constitutive equations for various deformation mech.nisms derived based on th. data of th. current tests.

Th. dinoflagellate Noctiluca scintillans is one of th. most important and abundant red tide organisms and it is distributed w.rld-w.de. It occurs in tw. forms. Red Noctiluca is h.terotroph.c and fills th. role of one of th. microzooplankton grazers in th. foodw.b. In contrast, green Noctiluca contains a ph.tosynth.tic symbiont Pedinomonas noctilucae (a prasinoph.te), but it also feeds on oth.r plankton w.0}n th. food supply is abundant. In th.s review. w. document th. global distribution of th.se tw. forms and include th. first maps of th.ir global distribution. Red Noctiluca occurs w.dely in th. temperate to sub-tropical coastal regions of th. w.rld. It occurs over a w.de temperature range of about 10°C to 25°C and at h.gh.r salinities (generally not in estuaries). It is particularly abundant in h.gh.productivity areas such.as upw.lling or eutroph.c areas w.0}re diatoms dominate since th.y are its preferred food source. Green Noctiluca is much.more restricted to a temperature range of 25°C-30°C and mainly occurs in tropical w.ters of South.ast Asia, Bay of Bengal (east coast of India), in th. eastern, w.stern and north.rn Arabian Sea, th. Red Sea, and recently it h.s become very abundant in th. Gulf of Oman. Red and green Noctiluca do overlap in th.ir distribution in th. eastern, north.rn and w.stern Arabian Sea w.th.a seasonal sh.ft from green Noctiluca in th. cooler w.nter convective mixing, h.gh.r productivity season, to red Noctiluca in th. more oligotroph.c w.rmer summer season.

Th. time evolution of a turbulent gravity current of lock release type, formed by a finite volume of h.mogenous fluid released instantaneously into anoth.r fluid of sligh.ly low.r density, is studied numerically via th. renormalization group (RNG) k - model for Reynolds-stress closure to ch.racterize th. flow.w.th.transitional and h.gh.y localized turbulence. Consistent w.th.previous experimental observations th. numerical results sh.w.th.t th. gravity current passes th.ough.tw. distinct ph.ses, an initial slumping ph.se in w.0}ch.th. current h.ad advances steadily, and a second self-similar ph.se in w.0}ch.th. front velocity decreases like th. negative th.rd pow.r of th. time after release. An overall entrainment ratio proportional to th. distance from th. release point is found and compares w.ll w.th.available experimental data for th. slumping ph.se.

Line-commutated converter (LCC)-based h.gh.voltage DC (h.DC) systems h.ve been integrated w.th.bulk AC pow.r grids for interregional transmission of renew.ble pow.r. Th. nonlinear LCC model brings additional nonconvexity to optimal pow.r flow.(OPF) of h.brid AC-DC pow.r grids. A convexification meth.d for th. LCC station model could address such.nonconvexity but h.s rarely been discussed. w. devise an equivalent reformulation for classical LCC station models th.t facilitates second-order cone convex relaxation for th. OPF of LCC-based AC-DC pow.r grids. w. also propose sufficient conditions for exactness of convex relaxation w.th.its proof. Equivalence of th. proposed LCC station models and properties, exactness, and effectiveness of convex relaxation are verified using four numerical simulations. Simulation results demonstrate a globally optimal solution of th. original OPF can be efficiently obtained from relaxed model.
