b.sed on the performance results of the previously suggested smart b.ilding isolation systems （lst companion paper）, this following study verifies the control effects of the systems from the view point of energy dissipation and damage level metrics. Several different model cases of the strategically isolated multi-story b.ilding structures utilizing passive dampers and semi-active resettab.e devices are analyzed and the energy-b.sed target indices are compared. Performance comparisons are conducted on statistically calculated story/structural hysteretic energy and story/structural damage demands over realistic suites of earthquake ground motion records, representing seismic excitations of specific return period prob.b.lity. Again, the semi-active solutions show significant promise for applications ofresettab.e device, offering advantages over passive systems in the consistent damage reductions. The specific results of this study include the identification of differences in the mechanisms b. which smart b.ilding isolation systems remove energy, b.sed on the differences in the devices used. Less variab.lity is also seen for the semi-active isolation systems, indicating an increased rob.stness.

This paper presents a new approach for offshore risk analysis that is capab.e of dealing with linguistic prob.b.lities in b.yesian networks （ b.s）. In this paper, linguistic prob.b.lities are used to describ. occurrence likelihood of hazardous events that may cause possib.e accidents in offshore operations. In order to use fuzzy information, an f-weighted valuation function is proposed to transform linguistic j.dgements into crisp prob.b.lity distrib.tions which can b. easily put into a b. to model causal relationships among risk factors. The use of linguistic variab.es makes it easier for human experts to express their knowledge, and the transformation of linguistic j.dgements into crisp prob.b.lities can significantly save the cost of computation, modifying and maintaining a b. model. The flexib.lity of the method allows for multiple forms of information to b. used to quantify model relationships, including formally assessed expert opinion when quantitative data are lacking, or when only qualitative or vague statements can b. made. The model is a modular representation of uncertain knowledge caused due to randomness, vagueness and ignorance. This makes the risk analysis of offshore engineering systems more functional and easier in many assessment contexts. Specifically, the proposed f-weighted valuation function takes into account not only the dominating values, b.t also the a-level values that are ignored b. conventional valuation methods. A case study of the collision risk b.tween a Floating Production, Storage and Off-loading （FPSO） unit and the anthorised vessels due to human elements during operation is used to illustrate the application of the proposed model.

The aim of this investigation was the determination of the predominant wear mechanism on three-b.dy ab.asion of fully pearlitic low alloy steel. Furthermore, the effect of pearlite interlamellar spacing on wear b.havior was investigated. For this purpose, the samples were sub.0}cted to the different heat treating to attaining different interlamellar spacing. Mechanical properties such as hardness, yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, and impact toughness were evaluated. Three b.dy ab.asion tests were conducted under ASTM standard condition using a rub.er wheel ab.asion test apparatus. Ab.aded surface and wear deb.is were investigated b. light optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that wear resistance of fully pearlitic steel depended to pearlite interlamellar spacing the and lower spacing has the greater wear resistance, so it may b. due to sub.urface work hardening and interlamellar spacing and cementite in fine and/or coarse pearlite, that influence on surface destruction during wear. Although during wear process the several mechanisms play roles, b.t study of surface and deb.is shows that with decreasing interlamellar spacing, the predominant mechanism wear changed from ploughing to cutting mode.

Anti-plane deformation of square lattices containing interphases is analyzed. It is assumed that lattices are linear elastic b.t not necessarily isotropic, whereas interphases exhib.t non-linear elastic b.havior. It is demonstrated that such prob.ems can b. treated effectively using Green＇s functions, which allow to eliminate the degrees of freedom outside of the interphase. Illustrative numerical examples focus on the determination of applied stresses leading to lattice instab.lity.

New roles for the recently identified group of plant hormones, the strigolactones, are currently under active investigation. One of their key roles is to regulate plant symb.oses. These compounds act as a rhizosphere signal in arb.scular mycorrhizal symb.oses and as a positive regulator of nodulation in legumes. The phosphorous and nitrogen status of the soil has emerged as a powerful regulator of strigolactone production. However, until now, the potential role of strigolactones in regulating mycorrhizal development and nodulation in response to nutrient deficiency has not b.en proven. In this paper, the role of strigolactone synthesis and response in regulating these symb.oses is examined in pea （Pisum sativum L.）. Pea is well suited to this study, since there is a range of well-characterized strigolactone b.o- synthesis and response mutants that is unique amongst legumes. Evidence is provided for a novel endogenous role for strigolactone response within the root during mycorrhizal development, in addition to the action of strigolactones on the fungal partner. The strigolactone response pathway that regulates mycorrhizal development also appears to dif- fer somewhat from the response pathway that regulates nodulation. Finally, studies with strigolactone-deficient pea mutants indicate that, despite strong regulation of strigolactone production b. b.th nitrogen and phosphate, strigolac- tones are not required to regulate these symb.oses in response to nutrient deficiency.

YIKI is an antimalarial phytomedicine used b. a traditional healer to treat malaria in b.b.-Dioulasso. However, there is no scientific evidence to support its use b. local populations. The aim of this study was to identify the medicinal practices of the healer holder of YIKI and assess the clinical evidence of its phytomedicine in the uncomplicated malaria treatment. Ethnomedical survey b.sed on a semi-structured and open questionnaire was conducted from Octob.r to Decemb.r 2019 with the healer. Malaria knowledge and diagnosis methods, patient treatment and monitoring, and recipe formulation steps were surveyed. Moreover, thick and thin b.ood smears were taken, haemoglob.n levels and temperature of consenting patients were measured b.fore treatment, mid-treatment and at the end of treatment. The survey revealed that the healer has a good knowledge of malaria symptoms and his diagnosis is b.sed on ob.ervation and physical examination of patients. The healer’s malaria diagnosis was rudimentary and had accuracy prob.ems, with only 62.79% of malaria cases confirmed b. microscopy. The formulation of YIKI and its use to treat malaria follow a standard process for plant harvesting, powder quantities and posology, b.t do not use any reproducib.e parameters for dose adj.stment. Forty-three patients diagnosed and treated b. the healer participated in the study. Lab.ratory results revealed 27 Plasmodium falciparum infection cases, including 2 with parasitaemia ≥ 200,000 p/µl b.ood. 25 patients were selected for therapeutic evidence assessment. There was a 48% elimination of parasites, a 28% parasitaemia decrease without complete cure, with gametocytogenesis in some patients, and a 24% parasitaemia increase. Haemoglob.n and temperature results suggested that YIKI was not cytotoxic and reduced fever. Encouraging preliminary results have b.en ob.ained, b.t in view of the low numb.r of patients, further YIKI efficacy and toxicity studies will b. necessary for patient safety.
