Cetuximab （CTX） is a potent chimeric mouse/human monoclonal antibody （mAb） approved worldwide for treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer. Among the various biological and physical analyses per- formed for full study on this biopharmaceutic, the determination of the concentration preparations throughout manufacturing and subsequent handling in hospital is particularly relevant. In the present work, the study and validation of a method for quantifying intact CTX by reverse-phase high-perfor- mance liquid chromatography with diode array detection （（RP）HPLC/DAD） is presented. With that end, we checked the performance of a chromatographic method for quantifying CTX and conducted a study to validate the method as stability-indicating in accordance with the International Conference on Harmo- nization guidelines （ICH） for biotechnological drugs; therefore, we evaluated linearity, accuracy, preci- sion, detection and quantification limits, robustness and system suitability. The specificity of the method and the robustness of the mAb formulation against external stress factors were estimated by compre- hensive chromatographic analysis by subj.cting CTX to several informative stress conditions. As de- monstrated, the method is rapid, accurate, and reproducible for CTX quantification. It was also suc- cessfully used to quantify CTX in a long-term stability study performed under hospital conditions.

We study the structure of graded Leibniz algebras with arbitrary dimension and over an arbitrary base field K. We show that any of such algebras ￡ with a symmetric G-support is of the form ￡ = U-∑j.j.with U a subspace of ￡1, the homogeneous component associated to the unit element 1 in G, and any Ij.a well described graded ideal of ￡, satisfying [Ij. Ik]= 0 if j. k. In the case of ￡ being of maximal length, we characterize the gr-simplicity of the algebra in terms of connections in the support of the grading.

This paper describes one approach to the design of reinforced concrete (RC) bridge piers, using a three-hybrid multi- obj.ctive simulated annealing (SA) algorithm with a neighborhood move based on the mutation operator from the genetic algorithms (GAs), namely MOSAMO1, MOSAMO2 and MOSAMO3. The procedure is applied to three obj.ctive functions: the economic cost, the reinforcing steel congestion and the embedded CO 2 emissions. Additional results for a random walk and a descent local search multi-obj.ctive algorithm are presented. The evaluation of solutions follows the Spanish Code for structural concrete. The methodology was applied to a typical bridge pier of 23.97 m in height. This example involved 110 design variables. Results indicate that algorithm MOSAMO2 outperforms other algorithms regarding the definition of Pareto fronts. Further, the proposed procedure will help structural engineers to enhance their bridge pier designs.

This paper investigates the performance and the results of an evolutionary algorithm （EA） specifically designed for evolving the decision engine of a program （which, in this context, is called bot） that plays Planet Wars. This game, which was chosen for the Google Artificial Intelligence Challenge in 2010, requires the bot to deal with multiple target planets, while achieving a certain degree of adaptability in order to defeat different opponents in different scenarios. The decision engine of the bot is initially based on a set of rules that have been defined after an empirical study, and a genetic algorithm （GA） is used for tuning the set of constants, weights and probabilities that those rules include, and therefore, the general behaviour of the bot. Then, the bot is supplied with the evolved decision engine and the results obtained when competing with other bots （a bot offered by Google as a sparring partner, and a scripted bot with a pre-established behaviour） are thoroughly analysed. The evaluation of the candidate solutions is based on the result of non-deterministic battles （and environmental interactions） against other bots, whose outcome depends on random draws as well as on the opponents＇ actions. Therefore, the proposed GA is dealing with a noisy fitness function. After analysing the effects of the noisy fitness, we conclude that tackling randomness via repeated combats and reevaluations reduces this effect and makes the GA a highly valuable approach for solving this problem.

Equilibria in Interdependent Natural-gas and Electric Power Markets: an Analytical Approach

Natural-gas and electric power systems and their corresponding markets have evolved over time independently. However, both systems are increasingly interdependent since combined cycle gas turbines that use natural gas to produce electricity increasingly couple them together. Therefore, suitable analysis techniques are most needed to comprehend the consequences on market outcomes of an increasing level of integration of both systems. There is a vast literature on integrated natural-gas and electric power markets assuming that the two markets are operated centrally by a single operator. This assumption is often untrue in the real world, which necessitates developing models for these interdependent yet independent markets. In this vein, this paper addresses the gap in the literature and provides analytical Nash-Cournot equilibrium models to represent the j.int operation of natural-gas and electric power markets with the assumption that the market participants in each market make their own decisions independently seeking the maximum profits, as often is the case in the real world. We develop an analytical equilibrium model and apply the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) approach to obtain Nash-Cournot equilibria for the interdependent natural-gas and electric power markets. We use a double-duopoly case to study the interaction of both markets and to derive insightful analytical results. Moreover, we derive closed-form analytical expressions for spot-market equilibria in both natural-gas and electric power markets, which are relevant and of practical significance for decision makers. We complement the double-duopoly study with a detailed sensitivity analysis.
