Exploring public perception and willingness to pay for a renewable source of energy: evidence from an emerging economy of renewable-energy development

The study focuses on the transition from conventional energy sources to sustainable renewable energy (RE) in Palestine, particularly in the West Bank.and Gaza Strip. The research aims to understand the relationship between k.y factors and residents' willingness to invest in the RE sector, with a specific focus on the impact of education. Using the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, the study analyzes data from 400 residents through a questionnaire and employs ordinary least-squares regression analysis with Eviews 12. The k.y findings indicate that residents' inclination to invest in RE is significantly influenced by factors such as resource availability, k.owledge level and power outages. Moreover, the study suggests that educated residents are more lik.ly to invest in RE when factors such as k.owledge, effort expectation, enabling conditions and resource availability are relatively high. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of policymak.rs' allocating sufficient funds to research and development to promote technological innovation in RE sources, thereby enhancing the population's energy efficiency. The repair of large load-bearing bone defects requires superior mechanical strength, a feat that a single hydrogel scaffold cannot achieve. The obj.ctive is to seamlessly integrate optimal microarchitecture, mechanical robustness, vascularisation, and osteoinductive biological responses to effectively address these critical load-bearing bone defects. To confront this challenge, three-dimensional (3D) printing technology was employed to prepare a polycaprolactone (PCL)-based integrated scaffold. Within the voids of 3D printed PCL scaffold, a methacrylate gelatin (GelMA)/methacrylated silk.fibroin (SFMA) composite hydrogel incorporated with parathyroid hormone (PTH) peptide-loaded mesoporous silica nanoparticles (PTH@MSNs) was embedded, evolving into a porous PTH@MSNs/GelMA/SFMA/PCL (PM@GS/PCL) scaffold. The feasibility of fabricating this functional scaffold with a customised hierarchical structure was confirmed through meticulous chemical and physical characterisation. Compression testing unveiled an impressive modulus of 17.81 ± 0.83 MPa for the composite scaffold. Additionally, in vitro angiogenesis potential of PM@GS/ PCL scaffold was evaluated through Transwell and tube formation assays using human umbilical vein endothelium, revealing the superior cell migration and tube network.formation. The alizarin red and alk.line phosphatase staining assays using bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells clearly illustrated robust osteogenic differentiation properties within this scaffold. Furthermore, the bone repair potential of the scaffold was investigated on a rat femoral defect model using micro-computed tomography and histological examination, demonstrating enhanced osteogenic and angiogenic performance. This study presents a promising strategy for fabricating a microenvironment-matched composite scaffold for bone tissue engineering, providing a potential solution for effective bone defect repair. © 2024, Chinese Medical Multimedia Press Co Ltd. Inflammation and angiogenesis, the maj.r pathological changes of osteoarthritis (OA), are closely associated with j.int pain; however, pertinent signalling interactions within subchondral bone of osteoarthritic j.ints and potential contribution to the peripheral origin of OA pain remain to be elucidated. Herein we developed a unilateral anterior crossbite mouse model with osteoarthritic changes in the temporomandibular j.int. Microarray-based transcriptome analysis, besides quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, was performed to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Overall, 182 DEGs (fold change ≥ 2, P j.cting significant DEGs to enrichment analyses, inflammation and angiogenesis were identified as the most affected. Inflammation-related DEGs were mainly enriched in T cell activation and differentiation and in the mammalian target of rapamycin/nuclear factor-κB/tumour necrosis factor signalling. Furthermore, angiogenesis-related DEGs were mainly enriched in the Gene Ontology terms angiogenesis regulation and vasculature development and in the k.GG pathways of phosphoinositide 3-k.nase-protein k.nase B/vascular endothelial growth factor/hypoxia-inducible factor 1 signalling. Protein– protein interaction analysis revealed a close interaction between inflammation-and angiogenesis-related DEGs, suggesting that phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-k.nase catalytic subunit delta (Pi3k.d), cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide (Camp), C-X-C motif chemok.ne receptor 4 (Cxcr4), and MYB proto-oncogene transcription factor (Myb) play a central role in their interaction. In this paper, a combination of model based adaptive design along with adaptive linear output feedback.controller is used to compensate for robotic manipulator with output deadzone nonlinearity. The deadzone dynamics are utilized to adaptively estimate the deadzone parameter and a switching function is designed to eliminate the error produced in the adaptive observer dynamics. The overall design of the closed loop system ensures stability in the BIBO criterion.

Back.round: This study aims to explore the significance of serum amylase levels in patients with organophosphorus pesticide (OP) poisoning and to provide a new perspective for evaluating the severity and prognosis of OP poisoning. Methods: The clinical data of 67 patients with acute OP poisoning, who had been treated in the emergency department of the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University between September 2020 and August 2022, were retrospectively analyzed. Using Spearman rank.correlation, serum amylase levels during admission and severity of poisoning correlated with discharge outcomes. Based on serum amylase levels, receiver operating characteristic curves were plotted to predict the severity and mortality of patients who experience organophosphate poisoning. The optimal threshold serum amylase level at admission was determined based on the maximum Youden index. Results: Using Spearman rank.correlation analysis, serum amylase levels at admission positively correlated with the severity of poisoning and discharge outcomes, but the degree of correlation was weak.(rs: 0.344; 0.264; P 194.1 U/L at admission was 15.944 (95% CI: 1.825–139.274). Conclusion: Serum amylase levels in patients with organophosphate poisoning correlate with the degree of poisoning and discharge outcomes. Reconstruction of bone defects or fractures caused by ageing, trauma and tumour resection is still a great challenge in clinical treatment. Although autologous bone graft is considered as gold standard, the source of natural bone is limited. In recent years, regenerative therapy based on bioactive materials has been proposed for bone reconstruction. Specially, numerous studies have indicated that bioactive ceramics including silicate and phosphate bioceramics exhibit excellent osteoinductivity and osteoconductivity, further promote bone regeneration. In addition, magnesium (Mg) element, as an indispensable mineral element, plays a vital role in promoting bone mineralisation and formation. In this review, different types of Mg-containing bioceramics including Mg-containing calcium phosphate-based bioceramics (such as Mg-hydroxyapatite, Mg-biphasic calcium phosphate), Mg-containing calcium silicate-based bioceramics (such as Mg2SiO4, Ca2MgSi2O7and Mg-doped bioglass), Mg-based biocements, Mg-containing metal/polymer-bioceramic composites were systematacially summarised. Additionally, the fabrication technologies and their materiobiological effects were deeply discussed, Clinical applications and perspectives of magnesium-containing bioceramics for bone repair are highlighted. Overall, Mg-containing bioceramics are regarded as regenerative therapy with their optimised performance. Furthermore, more in-depth two-way researches on their performance and structure are essential to satisfy their clinical needs. © 2024, Chinese Medical Multimedia Press Co Ltd. All rights reserved.

In this paper,we analyzed the physical characteristics of the ternary alloys RE_(2)Rh_(3)Ge(RE=Pr and Sm)using the first principles calculation based on functional density theory integrated in the Wien2k.*** calculated formation energies of Pr_(2)Rh_(3)Ge and Sm_(2)Rh_(3)Ge are−5.3827 and−5.2782 eV/atom,respectively,showing that these alloys may exist *** results of the band structure and density of states indicate that all of the compounds tested are magnetic metals,and their magnetism is mostly related to the contribution of Pr and Sm *** total magnetic moments of Pr_(2)Rh_(3)Ge and Sm_(2)Rh_(3)Ge are 4.07245 and 11.16161μB/f.u,*** parameters such as heat capacity at constant pressure,entropy,Debye temperature,lattice volume,compressibility coefficients,and Grüneisen parameter alloys were calculated using the Gibbs algorithm and studied in depth over a large temperature range of 0-900 *** Debye temperature increases with increasing pressure and decreases with decreasing ***,the Debye temperatures calculated at p=0 GPa and T=300 k.are equal to be 342 and 322 k.for Pr_(2)Rh_(3)Ge and Sm_(2)Rh_(3)Ge,*** optical characteristics such as the real and imaginary portions of the dielectric function,the absorption coefficient,the energy-loss function,and the refractive index were investigated and discussed in more depth.
