Roles of species-preferential seed dispersal by ants and endozoochory in Melampyrum(Orobanchaceae)

Naturally-occurring and artificially-induced polyploids have been documented in various fish species but to date no comparison has been reported of the impacts of ploidy on fish biomarker responses to organic *** study describes effects of ploidy,gender,and dose on biliary fluorescent aromatic compound（FAC） concentrations,hepatic ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase（EROD） and glutathione S-transferase（GST） activities in one of the most commonly cultured warm-water species,the African catfish Clarias *** matured male and female diploid and triploid fish were intraperitoneally（i.p.）injected with 0,5 or 25 mg/kg benzo[a]pyrene（Bap） and liver and gallbladder were sampled48 hr *** significant differences were found between ploidies in bile concentrations of7,8 dihydrodiolbenzo[a]pyrene（7,8D Bap）,1-hydroxybenzo[a]pyrene（1-OH Bap） or3-hydroxybenzo[a]pyrene（3-OH Bap）.However,concentrations of the biliary FACs did differ between males and females at different dose of injection with generally higher concentrations in females at the low dose of Bap and higher concentrations in males at the higher Bap *** EROD activity did not exhibit gender-dependent difference,whereas it was significantly higher in triploids than *** activities were not significantly influenced by any of the tested *** work advanced our understanding of the role of ploidy,gender,and dose in biotransformation of pollutants in fish.

How Do Sugars Regulate plant Growth and Development？ New Insight into the Role of Treha Iose-6-phosphate

plant growth and development are tightly controlled in response to environmental conditions that influence the availability of photosynthetic carbon in the form of sucrose. Trehalose-6-phosphate （T6p）, the precursor of trehalose in the biosynthetic pathway, is an important signaling metabolite that is involved in the regulation of plant growth and development in response to carbon availability. In addition to the plant＇s own pathway for trehalose synthesis, formation of T6p or trehalose by pathogens can result in the reprogramming of plant metabolism and development. Developmental processes that are regulated by T6p range from embryo development to leaf senescence. Some of these processes are regulated in interaction with phytohormones, such as auxin. A key interacting factor of T6p signaling in response to the environment is the protein kinase sucrose non-fermenting related kinase-1 （SnRK1）, whose catalytic activity is inhibited by T6R SnRK1 is most likely involved in the adjustment of metabolism and growth in response to starvation. The transcription factor bZlp11 has recently been identified as a new player in the T6p/SnRK1 regulatory pathway. By inhibiting SnRK1, T6p promotes biosynthetic reactions. This regulation has important consequences for crop production, for example, in the developing wheat grain and during the growth of potato tubers.

InterStoreDB:A Generic Integration Resource for Genetic and Genomic Data

Associating phenotypic traits and quantitative trait loci （QTL） to causative regions of the underlying genome is a key goal in agricultural research. InterStoreDB is a suite of integrated databases designed to assist in this process. The individual databases are species independent and generic in design, providing access to curated datasets relating to plant populations, phenotypic traits, genetic maps, marker loci and QTL, with links to functional gene annotation and genomic sequence data. Each component database provides access to associated metadata, including data provenance and parameters used in analyses, thus providing users with information to evaluate the relative worth of any associations identified. The databases include CropStoreDB, for management of population, genetic map, QTL and trait measurement data, SeqStoreDB for sequence-related data and AlignStoreDB, which stores sequence alignment information, and allows navigation between genetic and genomic datasets. Genetic maps are visualized and compared using the CMAp tool, and functional annotation from sequenced genomes is provided via an EnsEMBL-based genome browser. This framework facilitates navigation of the multiple biological domains involved in genetics and genomics research in a transparent manner within a single portal. Differential effects of energy balance on experimentally-induced colitis

AIM： To characterize the influence of diet-induced changes in body fat on colitis severity in SlVlAD3-/- mice.METHODS： SMAD3-/- mice （6-8 wk of age） were ran- domly assigned to receive a calorie restricted （30% of control; CR）, control （CON）, or high fat （HF） diet for 20 wk and were gavaged with sterile broth or with Helicobacter hepaticus （H. hepaticus） to induce colitis. Four weeks after infection, mice were sacrificed and the cecum and colons were processed for histological evaluation.RESULTS： Dietary treatment significantly influenced body composition prior to infection （p 〈 0.05）, with CR mice having less （14%±2%） and HF-fed mice more body fat （32% ± 7%） compared to controls （22%±4%）. Differences in body composition were associated with alterations in plasma levels of leptin （HF 〉 CON 〉 CR） and adiponectin （CON 〉 HF 〉/ CR）（p 〈 0.05）. There were no significant differences in colitis scores between CON and HF-fed mice 4 wk post-infection. Consistent with this, differences in proliferation and in- flammation markers （COX-2, iNOS）, and infiltrating cell types （CD3^＋ T lymphocytes, macrophages） were not observed. Unexpectedly, only 40% of CR mice survived infection with H. hepaticus, with mortality observed as early as I wk following induction of colitis.CONCLUSION： Increased adiposity does not influence colitis severity in SMAD3-/- mice. Importantly, caloric restriction negatively impacts survival following pathogen challenge, potentially due to an impaired immune response.

With the increase in mining depth, mine heat harm has appeared to be more prominent. The mine heat harm could be resolvedor reduced by ice refrigeration. Thus, ice transportation through pipeline becomes a critical problem; typically flowresistance occurs in the elbow. In the present study, according to the analysis of the surface morphology of fish scale, abiomimetic functional surface structure for the interior wall of elbow is designed. Based on the theory of liquid-solid two phaseflow, a CFD numerical simulation of ice-water mixture flowing through the elbow is carried out using finite element *** experiments of pressure drop and flow resistance for both bionic and common elbows are conducted to test theeffect of the bionic elbow on flow resistance reduction. It is found that with the increase in the ice mass fraction in the ice-watermixture, the effect of bionic elbow on resistance reduction becomes more obvious.

使用单个石英谐振器,能够在加上几种激励电压情况下,同时得到几种谐振频率。几个振荡器可以使用同一个谐振器。但在信号幅度增加时,不会出现线性效应。各种不同振动之间的耦合,主要由下列两方面引起:1)振荡器之间的电子耦合。2)振荡材料本身引起的耦合(通过非线性效应)。文中只考虑了两个谐振频率之间的耦合,其实验数据符合 B.V.A 谐振器。为了消除振荡器之间的电子耦合,可用两个隔离的频率综合器对谐振器进行无源测试。主振模的频率变化,是根据其它模的幅度进行测量的。为了明确起见,把这种效应称做间接幅频效应(或引入的幅频效应)。这里介绍的一些特殊情况包括:采用三次和五次泛音和 B 模的5兆赫 AT 切和 SC 切晶体。本文给出了一些实验结果和曲线图,同时提出了一些应用。
