Comparative analysis of microstructure,mechanical,and corrosion properties of biodegradable Mg-3Y alloy prepared by selective laser melting and spark plasma sintering

This work explored possibilities of biodegradable magnesium alloy Mg-3Y preparation by two modern powder metallurgy techniques–spark plasma sintering(SPS)and selective laser melting(SLM).The powder material was consolidated by both methods utilising optimised parameters,which led to very low porosity(∼0.3%)in the SLM material and unmeasurably low porosity in the SPS *** main aim of the study was the thorough microstructure characterisation and interrelation between the microstructure and the functional properties,such as mechanical strength,deformability,and corrosion *** materials showed comparable strength of∼110 MPa in tension and compression and relatively good deformability of∼9%and∼21%for the SLM and SPS materials,*** corrosion resistance of the SPS material in 0.1 M NaCl solution was superior to the SLM one and comparable to the conventional extruded *** digital image correlation during loading and the cross-section analysis of the corrosion layers revealed that the residual porosity and large strained grains have the dominant negative effect on the functional properties of the SLM *** the other hand,one of the primary outcomes of this study is that the SPS consolidation method is very effective in the preparation of the W3 biodegradable alloy,resulting in material with convenient mechanical and degradation properties that might find practical applications.

The diameter distribution of trees in a stand provides the basis for determining the stand’s ecological and economic value,its structure and stability and appropriate management *** pine(Pinus sylvestris L.)is one of the most common and important conifers in Turkey,so a well-planned management schedule is *** distribution models to accurately describe the stand structure help improve management strategies,but developing reliable models requires a deep understanding of the growth,output and constraints of the *** most important information derived by diameter distribution models is primary data on horizontal stand structure for each diameter class of trees:basal area and volume per unit *** predictions are required to estimate the range of products and predicted volume and yield from a forest ***,to construct an accurate,reliable diameter distribution model for natural Scots pine stands in the Türkmen Mountain region,we used johnson’s SBdistribution to represent the empirical diameter distributions of the stands using ground-based measurements from 55 sample plots that included1219 trees in natural distribution zones of the *** an alternative,nonparametric approach,which does not require any predefined function,an artificial intelligence model was constructed based on support vector machine *** error index was calculated to evaluate the ***,both johnson’s SB probability density function with a three-parameter recovery approach and the support vector regression methodology provided reliable estimates of the diameter distribution of these stands.

The joint European Space Agency and Chinese Academy of Sciences Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)mission will explore global dynamics of the magnetosphere under varying solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field conditions,and simultaneously monitor the auroral response of the Northern Hemisphere *** these large-scale responses with medium and fine-scale measurements at a variety of cadences by additional ground-based and space-based instruments will enable a much greater scientific impact beyond the original goals of the SMILE ***,we describe current community efforts to prepare for SMILE,and the benefits and context various experiments that have explicitly expressed support for SMILE can offer.A dedicated group of international scientists representing many different experiment types and geographical locations,the Ground-based and Additional Science Working Group,is facilitating these *** include constructing an online SMILE Data Fusion Facility,the discussion of particular or special modes for experiments such as coherent and incoherent scatter radar,and the consideration of particular observing strategies and spacecraft *** anticipate growing interest and community engagement with the SMILE mission,and we welcome novel ideas and insights from the solar-terrestrial community.

In a recent study published in Nature,Garcia et *** a sophisticated approach to identify fitness-enhancing mutations for T cells that was inspired by cancer evolution.1 The identified CARD11-PIK3R3 gene fusion enhanced tumor rejection and persistence of engineered T cells in multiple tumor models and might have the potential to improve efficacy of adoptive T-cell therapies in cancer patients.

Background:During an experiment,a ski racer equipped with various measurement devices suffered an anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)rupture in his right *** aim of this study was to describe the underlying injury mechanism from a functional ***:Eight giant slalom turns(i.e.,4 left turns),followed by 1 left turn at which the ACL injury occurred,were recorded by 2 video cameras,electromyography of 4 relevant muscle groups,inertial measurement units to measure knee and hip angles,and pressure insoles to determine ground reaction ***:Due to a loss of balance,the ski racer began to slide sideways at the apex of a left *** sliding,his right(outside)leg was actively abducted upward without touching the *** ski racer then attempted to stand up again by dropping his leg back towards the snow *** end of this dropping was accompanied by a decrease in electromyographic activity in the knee stabilizing *** the inside edge of the outer ski caught the snow surface,a rapidly increasing peak force,knee flexion,and an aggressive sudden activation of the vastus medialis muscle were observed,while biceps femoris and rectus femoris further decreased their activation *** likely resulted in excessive anterior translation of the tibia relative to the femur,causing damage to the ***:Our example emphasizes that ski racers should not get up until they stop ***:“When you’re down,stay down.”

Europium doped znO/SnO2 nanocomposite phosphors were synthesized via room temperature co-precipitation method. In this work structural changes, optical properties and the associated photoluminescence response were investigated for different compositions of znO and SnO2 activated with Eu3＋ ions. The prepared samples were systematically characterized by means of X-ray diffraction （XRD）, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）, field emission scanning electron microscopy for obtaining the structural information about the prepared materials. Diffuse reflectance （DR） UV-Vis spectrometer and photoluminescence （PL） spectroscopy technique were employed for studying the optical properties of prepared materials. XRD results confirmed the presence of both phases, hexagonal znO as well as tetragonal SnO2 simultaneously and further using Debye Scherrer＇s and Hall-Williamson relations, crystallite size were estimated and it was found to be in the range of 8-14 nm. The FTIR studies revealed the presence of different stretching and bending modes of zn-O and Sn-O with an additional stretching and bending vibration of absorbed water （O-H） molecules. FESEM images suggested that the particle size lied in the range of 50 to 70 nm, which were almost spherical in shapes. A long range multi colour emission from blue to red region was observed for the 320 nm excitation wavelength. The observed emission involved sharp emission due to 5D0→7F1 transition that corresponded to the magnetic dipole transition. The study showed that the Eu3＋ doped nanocomposite was more suitable material than singly Eu3＋ doped znO and Eu3＋ doped SnO2 with enhanced opto-eleetronic and luminescence properties and potential applications in display devices.
