Aiming to enhance the luminescence yield of carbon nanotubes, we introduce a new class of hybrid nanoplasmonic colloidal systems （π-hybrids）. Nanotubes dispersed in gold nanorod colloidal suspensions yield hybrid structures exhibiting enhanced luminescence up to a factor of 20. The novelty of the proposed enhancement mechanism relies on including metal proximity effects in addition to its localized surface plasmons. This simple, robust and flexible technique enhances the luminescence of nanotubes with chiralities whose enhancement has never reported before, for example the （8,4） tube.

Two-dimensional dynamic numerical analyses have been conducted,using FLAC 7.0,to evaluate the seismic response of underground structures located far from the seismic source,placed in either linear-elastic or nonlinear elastoplastic *** interaction between the ground and deep circular tunnels with a tied interface is *** the simulations,it is assumed that the liner remains in its elastic regime,and plane strain conditions apply to any cross section perpendicular to the tunnel *** elastoplastic constitutive model is implemented in FLAC to simulate the nonlinear *** effect of input frequency and relative stiffness between the liner and the ground,on the seismic response of tunnels,is *** response is studied in terms of distortions normalized with respect to those of the free field,and load demand(axial forces and bending moments)in the *** all cases,*** linear-elastic and nonlinear ground models,the results show negligible effect of the input frequency on the distortions of the cross section,for input frequencies smaller than 5 Hz;that is for ratios between the wave length and the tunnel opening(k=D)larger than ten for linear-elastic and nine for nonlinear *** normalized distortions are obtained for the nonlinear than for the linear-elastic ground,for the same relative stiffness,with differences increasing as the tunnel becomes more flexible,or when the amplitude of the dynamic input shear stress *** has been found that normalized distortions for the nonlinear ground do not follow a unique relationship,as it happens for the linear-elastic ground,but increase as the amplitude of the dynamic input *** loading in the liner decreases as the structure becomes more flexible with respect to the ground,and is smaller for a tunnel placed in a stiffer nonlinear ground than in a softer nonlinear ground,for the same flexibility ratio.

Background: Anatomical variations in the liver arterial supply are quite common and can affect the surgical strategy when performing a minimally invasive pancreaticoduodenectomy(MIPD). Their presence must be preemptively detected to avoid postoperative liver and biliary complications. Data sources: Following the PRISMA guidelines and the Cochrane protocol we conducted a systematic review on the management of an accessory or replaced right hepatic artery(RHA) arising from the superior mesenteric artery when performing an MIPD. Results: Five studies involving 118 patients were included. The most common reported management of the aberrant RHA was conservative(97.0%);however, patients undergoing aberrant RHA division without reconstruction did not develop liver or biliary complications. No differences in postoperative morbidity or long-term oncological related overall survival were reported in all the included studies when comparing MIPD in patients with standard anatomy to those with aberrant RHA. Conclusions: MIPD in patients with aberrant RHA is feasible without increase in morbidity and mortality. As preoperative strategy is crucial, we suggested planning an MIPD with an anomalous RHA focusing on preoperative vascular aberrancy assessment and different strategies to reduce the risk of liver ischemia.

By analyzing phonon dispersion, we have evaluated the average Young＇s modulus and Poisson＇s ratio in graphite and in graphene grown on Ru（0001）, Pt（111）, Ir（111）, Ni（111）, and BC3/NbB2（0001）. In both flat and corrugated graphene sheets and in graphite, we find a Poisson＇s ratio of 0.19 and a Young＇s modulus of 342 N/m. The unique exception is graphene/Ni（111）, for which we find different values because of the stretching of C-C bonds occurring in the commensurate overstructure （0.36 and 310 N/m for the Poisson＇s ratio and Young＇s modulus, respectively）. Such findings are in excellent agreement with calculations performed for a free-standing graphene membrane. The high crystalline quality of graphene grown on metal substrates leads to macroscopic samples with high tensile strength and bending flexibility for use in technological applications such as electromechanical devices and carbon-fiber reinforcements.

A three reagents adhesive system for wood particleboards not containing any aldehyde was developed by the reaction of glucose or sucrose with triacetin(glycerin triacetate)and with hexamethylene *** system was found to be based on the mix of three reactions,namely the reaction of(i)glucose with triacetin,(ii)of the diamine with triacetin,and(iii)of glucose with the *** chemical species formed were identified by Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time of Flight(MALDI-ToF)mass *** particleboard panels were prepared with this adhesive system and gave good internal bond(IB)strength results suitable for interior grade panels and with extremely low formaldehyde emission.

Tunnels must withstand not only the demands stemming from normal working conditions but also from extreme events such as ***,there is consistent evidence in the technical literature that indicates that tunnels are vulnerable to damage and must be designed to adequately support the demand imposed by the *** demand should be estimated using dynamic numerical methods that include soil-structure interaction and incorporate realistic models for the support and surrounding *** preliminary analysis,however,or when the seismic demand is insufficient to take the ground beyond its elastic regime,analytical solutions may provide a reasonable estimate of the tunnel behavior,especially if the tunnel is sufficiently far from the seismic source such that a pseudostatic analysis is *** analytical solutions are based on the assumption that the ground is isotropic,which may not be realistic,as *** processes may result in engineering properties that depend on the direction of *** work presented in the paper builds on the results by Bobet(2011,2016)who provided closed-form solutions for deep tunnels in elastic transversely anisotropic ground;however,the paper provides much simpler solutions for those cases where the ground is slightly anisotropic.A comparison between the approximate and the exact solutions shows that the errors are negligible when the ground anisotropy is small and grow,albeit slowly,as the ground anisotropy *** conclusion applies to different loading conditions,drained and undrained,and to different ground-support interfaces,tied or frictionless.

Tectonic reconstructions of Proterozoic Australia commonly place the Peake and Denison Domain of the northeastern Gawler Craton at the interface between the North and South Australian cratons prior to the reconfiguration of Australia’s main tectonic components in the ***,this reconstruction is largely based on palaeomagnetic data as the geological correlations between these regions are currently limited,particularly during the *** early Mesoproterozoic period is significant as it corresponds to major IOCG mineralization in the eastern Gawler Craton between 1600 Ma and 1575 Ma,and IOCG mineralization in the Mount Isa Province largely between 1550 Ma and 1490 ***,determining the relationship of the Peake and Denison Domain to the Gawler Craton and Mount Isa Province during this period is essential to evaluating mineral prospectivity in the northeastern Gawler *** U–Pb LA-ICP-MS geochronology on zircon and titanite improves our understanding of the tectonothermal and hydrothermal history the Peake and Denison Domain during the latePalaeoproterozoic,early-Mesoproterozoic and the Cambrian–Ordovician *** formed within largely calc-silicate alteration assemblages indicates the Peake and Denison Domain has a protracted history of hydrothermal activity,recording events at c.1565 Ma,1530–1515 Ma,c.1500 Ma,c.1465 Ma and c.490 *** highly calcic nature of the c.1565–1500 Ma alteration in the Peake and Denison Domain shares strong similarities in age and character to the regional calcic-sodic alteration recorded in the Mount Isa *** suggest the two regions were influenced by similar hydrothermal systems during the early Mesoproterozoic,supporting reconstruction models that place the Peake and Denison Domain near the Mount Isa Province during the *** highlights the prospectivity of the Peake and Denison Domain for Isan-style IOCG mineralization,but requires consideration of the post-

This paper presents a parameter estimation technique for the hot-spot thermal model of power *** proposed technique is based on the unscented formulation of the Kalman filter,jointly considering the state variables and parameters of the dynamic thermal model.A two-stage estimation technique that takes advantage of different loading conditions is developed,in order to increase the number of parameters which can be *** results are presented,which show that the observable parameters are estimated with an error of less than 3%.The parameter estimation procedure is mainly intended for factory testing,allowing the manufacturer to enhance the thermal model of power transformers and,therefore,its customers to increase the lifetime of these *** proposed technique could be additionally considered in field applications if the necessary temperature measurements are available.
