Optical bound states in the continuum(BICs)provide a way to engineer very narrow resonances in photonic *** extended interaction time in these systems is particularly promising for the enhancement of nonlinear optical processes and the development of the next generation of active optical ***,the achievable interaction strength is limited by the purely photonic character of optical ***,we mix the optical BIC in a photonic crystal slab with excitons in the atomically thin semiconductor MoSe_(2) to form nonlinear exciton-polaritons with a Rabi splitting of 27 mev,exhibiting large interaction-induced spectral *** asymptotic BIC-like suppression of polariton radiation into the far field toward the BIC wavevector,in combination with effective reduction of the excitonic disorder through motional narrowing,results in small polariton linewidths below 3 *** with a strongly wavevector-dependent Q-factor,this provides for the enhancement and control of polariton–polariton interactions and the resulting nonlinear optical effects,paving the way toward tuneable BIC-based polaritonic devices for sensing,lasing,and nonlinear optics.

Deeply subwavelength lasers(or nanolasers)are highly demanded for compact on-chip bioimaging and sensing at the *** of the main obstacles for the development of single-particle nanolasers with all three dimensions shorter than the emitting wavelength in the visible range is the high lasing thresholds and the resulting *** we ex-ploit exciton-polariton condensation and mirror-image Mie modes in a cuboid CsPbBr3 nanoparticle to achieve coherent emission at the visible wavelength of around 0.53μm from its ultra-small(≈0.007μm3 or≈λ3/20)semiconductor *** polaritonic nature of the emission from the nanocavity localized in all three dimensions is proven by direct com-parison with corresponding one-dimensional and two-dimensional waveguiding systems with similar material *** a deeply subwavelength nanolaser is enabled not only by the high values for exciton binding energy(≈35 mev),re-fractive index(>2.5 at low temperature),and luminescence quantum yield of CsPbBr3,but also by the optimization of po-laritons condensation on the Mie resonances with quality factors improved by the metallic ***,the key parameters for optimal lasing conditions are intermode free spectral range and phonons spectrum in CsPbBr3,which govern polaritons condensation *** chemically synthesized colloidal CsPbBr3 nanolasers can be potentially de-posited on arbitrary surfaces,which makes them a versatile tool for integration with various on-chip systems.

Non-classical subjects relating to the dynamics of jet and film flow and related heat transfer processes are *** problems,which are relevant to several technological applications,cannot completely be addressed in the frame of the canonical Navier-Stokes *** first example deals with the formation of a film flow as a result of the hydraulic shock of a vertical jet impinging on a horizontal *** effective thickness of the film resulting from the hydraulic shock is much less than the value obtained using the conventional approach(relying on the assumption of smooth flow),while the corresponding speed is much *** next case is a jet penetrating into a pool of another liquid,which under certain conditions can form a jet head of a fungoid *** the jet penetrates the pool,it expands sharply,and this situation is another example of circumstances where classical models are ***,by virtue of the intense radiating heat transfer taking place at the front of the jet,a high-temperature jet can penetrate a pool of evaporating coolant,like a“jet in a bag of steam”.These exotic problems are modeled and explained in the present article along with experimental data used for model *** new hydrodynamic phenomena discovered over recent years are presented together with their practical applications,in particular,the modes of soliton-like and shock-wave decay of jets during vibration and electromagnetic resonant decomposition of the jet into droplets of a given *** phenomena are relevant to the areas of granulation of metal melts,cooling of molten corium during postulated severe accidents in nuclear power plants and in other industrial and technological devices and processes.

There are many locations in Russia where Eurasian beaver(Castor fiber)populations have been *** a keystone species,beavers provide wide-ranging direct and indirect impacts on aquatic *** particular,beaver-created ponds are sites for spawning and nursery places for tadpoles of the brown frogs(genus Rana).Because of such impacts,study techniques for assessing aquatic organism abundance are being *** compared two methods for estimating tadpole abundance:traditional catches by dipnet and *** results show that the dipnet catch data for the shallower ponds with larger water surface area were five times lower than that obtained by ***,we conclude that dipnet catches are not suitable for comparing the relative abundance of tadpoles in the two beaver ponds that were studied.

Solar flares with similar soft but different hard X-ray emissions： case and statistical studies

From the Reuven Ramaty High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager （RHESS1） catalog we select events which have approximately the same GOES class （high C - low M or 500-1200 counts s-1 within the RHESSI 6-12 kev energy band）, but with different maximal energies of detected hard X-rays. The selected events are subdivided into two groups：（1） flares with X-ray emissions observed by RHESSI up to only 50 kev and （2） flares with hard X-ray emission observed also above 50 kev. The main task is to understand observational peculiarities of these two flare groups. We use RHESSIX-ray data to obtain spectral and spa- tial information in order to find differences between selected groups. Spectra and images are analyzed in detail for six events （case study）. For a larger number of samples （85 and 28 flares in the low-energy and high-energy groups respectively） we only make some generalizations. In spectral analysis we use the thick- target model for hard X-ray emission and one temperature assumption for thermal soft X-ray emission. RHESSI X-ray images are used for determination of flare region sizes. Although thermal and spatial prop- erties of these two groups of flares are not easily distinguishable, power law indices of hard X-rays show significant differences. Events from the high-energy group generally have a harder spectrum. Therefore, the efficiency of chromospheric evaporation is not sensitive to the hardness of nonthermal electron spectra but rather depends on the total energy flux of nonthermal electrons.

Cationic Polymerization of Isobutylene and C4 Mixed Feed Using Complexes of Lewis Acids with Ethers: A Comparative Study

The cationic polymerization of C4 mixed feed and isobutylene co-initiated by AlCl3xOiPr2,iBuAlC12xnOiPr2, and [emim]Cl- FeCl3xnOiPr2 ([emim]Cl: 1 -ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride) has been investigated. AlCl3xOiPr2 co-initiated cationic polymerization of C4 mixed feed proceeds at a lower rate than polymerization of isobutylene affording polymers with higher molecular weight. Complexes of iBuAlCh with di isopropyl ether of different compositions are more suitable co-initiators than AlCl3xOiPr2 for the synthesis of highly reactive polyisobutylene (HR PIB) from C4 mixed feed due to their higher activity in the polymerization as well as possibility to prepare polyisobutylenes with lower molecular weight and higher content of exo-olefin end groups. However, iBuA1C12 needs activating via addition of external water (initiator) and/or interaction with salts hydrates in order to increase the reaction rate and the saturated monomer conversion.[Emim]Cl-FeC13/iPr2O is a quite promising catalyst for the preparation of HR PIB with high exo-olefin end group content (> 80%) and relatively low polydispersity (Mw/Mn via cationic polymerization of C4 mixed feed. The sonication of reaction mixture in case of using [emim]Cl-FeCh allowed increasing the reaction rate and decreasing the molecular weight.
