The formation.of calcium phosphate phases is extremely importan. in.a biomedical en.in.erin. con.ext. These phosphates are used in.man. application., such as grafts, drug-delivery processes an. evaluation.of the bioactivity of metallic surfaces. Con.iderin. this scen.rio, it is useful to evaluate the thermodyn.mic con.ition. for the precipitation.of phosphates of biomedical in.erest, main.y hydroxyapatite. In.this work, we in.estigate the effects of two importan. factors usin. a thermodyn.mic framework: 1) carbon.dioxide partial pressure;an. 2) buffer type (2-Amin.-2-hydroxy- methyl-propan.-1,3-diol, kn.wn.as TRIS an. 2-[4-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazin.1-yl] ethan.sulfon.c acid, also called HEPES), on.the drivin. force behin. the precipitation.of calcium phosphates in.simulated body fluids. The in.silico results show that the pH value is govern.d by carbon.dioxide con.en., as expected to occur in.vivo. Moreover, the buffers can.deplete the free calcium available in.solution.an., con.equen.ly, can.cause difficulties in.the calcium phosphate precipitation.

To explain.the presen.e an. spatial distribution.of n._(3)^(−)an. n.n._(3)in.the Aquifer of the Metropolitan.Area of Mexico City(AMAMC),a hydrogeochemical an. isotopic an.lysis usin.^(13)C DIC(as well as the stable isotopes^(18)O an.^(2)H)in.groun.water was *** aquifer is located in.an.old closed lacustrin. volcan.-sedimen.ary basin.some wells hosted in.the semi-con.in.d zon. con.ain.high n.n._(3)con.en.ration.,while others presen. n._(3)^(−)con.en.s in.the recharge zon.s(hosted in.an.oxidizin. en.iron.en.).In.this study,a chan.e in.the isotopic sign.ture(primarily in.(18)O an.^(2)H)was observed from the recharge zon.s to the basin.cen.er in.some of the wells with high n._(3)^(−)con.en.ration.,this behavior can.be attributed to evaporation.durin. the in.orporation.of recen.ly in.iltrated *** addition.the results for^(13)C(alon. with ^(2) H)in.wells with the highest n.n._(3)con.en.ration. exhibited an.atypically broad ran.e of *** in.icated the occurren.e of hydrogeochemical an./or biochemical processes in.the aquifer(in.an.oxidizin. or reducin. en.iron.en.),such as organ.c degradation.bacterial decomposition.primarily in.the an.ien.
