The advent of additive technologies has provided a significant breakthrough in the production of medical *** has reduced costs,increased productivity and accuracy of the implant manufacturing ***,there are problems associated with assessing defects in the microstructure,mechanical and technological properties of alloys,both during their production by powder metallurgy and in the process of 3D *** traditional research methods of alloys properties demand considerable human,material,and time *** the same time,artificial intelligence tools create opportunities for intelligent evaluation of the conformity for the microstructure,phase composition,and properties of titanium powder’s *** provides new possibilities for the efficient production of biocompatible implants for various functional ***,the accuracy of the methods and models used should be as high as *** this paper we designed a hybrid PNN-sVM(Probabilistic Neural Network-support Vector Machine)high-precision approach for the intelligent evaluation of alloy properties for additive manufacturing of biomedical *** have proposed a new approach for extending the dimensionality of input data space by the outputs of the summation layer of the modified PNN *** classification based on the expanded dataset is performed using *** conducted experimental modeling of the proposed approach using a data set on the properties of titanium alloys Ti-6Al-4V and *** have demonstrated a significant increase in the accuracy of the PNN-sVM scheme compared to the single classifiers that form it and other machine learning methods.

Double-skin façade simulation with computational fluid dynamics:A review of simulation trends,validation methods and research gaps

Dynamic simulation of a double-skin façade(DsF)with computational fluid dynamics(CFD)can be challenging due to the lack of validated models and benchmarking ***,there is a lack of consensus in the scientific community on what constitutes a successfully validated DsF *** present review study identifies simulation trends and research gaps for DsFs simulated with ***,this article presents a series of CFD simulations in which key aspects of the DsF modelling are varied:2D or 3D modelling approaches,turbulence viscosity models(TVMs),radiation models,and wall *** simulation results are compared to the empirical data(both temperature and velocity fields)of a benchmark test with laboratory-controlled boundary *** analysis shows that using the k-εRNG model with enhanced wall treatment and surface-to-surface(s2s)radiation model yields the best results for the 2D case of natural convection ***,it is shown that accounting for the velocity field in the validation process is essential to ensure the suitability of a ***,the authors advocate for the use of selected dimensionless numbers to improve the comparability of the different DsF scientific *** would also help to identify relevant experimental datasets for validation and suitable CFD simulation settings for specific DsF cases.

Two-step synthesis of Y2O3:Eu nanostructures was *** includes microwave driven hydrothermal and calcination *** route results in crystallization of Y4O(OH)g(NO3):Eu crystals initially,then Y2O3:Eu crystals after *** Eu contents in relation to overall cation quantity were set to 2 mol%,10 mol%and 20 mol%.Varying europium concentrations influence habit of obtained Y4O(OH)g(NO3):Eu crystals from needle-like to plate-like and as a result,also shapes of final Y2O3:Eu ***,certain amount of Eu2+ions was detected in as-grown material using laser spectroscopy and decay kinetics *** material was calcined at 1200°C in the air,which results in oxidation of Eu2+ions and crystallization of small number of cubic EU2 O3 *** of obtained materials was performed using XRD,sEM,TEM,EDX,CL,Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopy.

Optimization and kinetic modeling of waste lard methanolysis in a continuous reciprocating plate reactor

Continuous biodiesel production from a waste pig-roasting lard,methanol and KOH was carried out in a reciprocating plate reactor(RPR)using a factorial design containing three process factors,namely methanol/lard molar ratio,catalyst loading,and normalized height of the *** main goals were to optimize the influential process factors with respect to biodiesel purity using the response surface methodology and to model the kinetics of the transesterification reaction in order to describe the change of triacylglycerols(TAG)and fatty acid methyl esters(FAME)concentrations along the RPR *** first-order rate law was proved for both the reaction and the mass *** model of the changing reaction mechanism and mass transfer of TAG was also *** kinetic models agreed with the experimental concentrations of TAG and FAME determined along the RPR height.

BACKGROUND In this case report we describe an extremely rare case of cerebral air embolism following transbronchial lung biopsy(TBLB).Only a few cases of this rare complication were described *** bronchologist should recognize this severe adverse *** recognition of this complication is mandatory in order to initiate supportive measures and consider hyperbaric oxygen *** sUMMARY In this case report we describe an extremely rare case of cerebral air embolism following *** a few cases of this rare complication were described *** patient had an incidental finding of lung tumour and pulmonary *** air embolism developed during bronchoscopy procedure,immediately after the third trans-bronchial lung biopsy sample and caused cerebral ischaemia of the right hemisphere and severe left-sided *** timely initiation of hyperbaric oxygen therapy hemiplegia didn´t resolve and the patient died several weeks *** air embolism is an extremely rare complication of *** condition should be considered in case the patient remains unresponsive or presents with acute neurological symptoms in the postintervention period since early recognition,diagnosis and hyperbaric oxygen therapy initiation are key factors determining the patient´s *** Within this report,we conclude that air/gas embolism is an extremely rare complication after TBLB,which should be considered in case the patient remains unresponsive or presents with acute neurological symptoms in the postintervention period after *** current gold standard for diagnosis is computed tomography scan of the *** recognition of this complication we suggest immediate hyperbaric oxygen therapy,if available.

Photoelectrochemical CO_(2) electrolyzers: From photoelectrode fabrication to reactor configuration

The photoelectrochemical conversion of CO_(2) into value-added products emerges as an attractive approach to alleviate climate change. One of the main challenges in deploying this technology is, however, the development and optimization of(photo)electrodes and photoelectrolyzers. This review focuses on the fabrication processes, structure, and characterization of(photo)electrodes, covering a wide range of fabrication techniques, from rudimentary to automated fabrication processes. The work also highlights the most relevant features of(photo)electrodes, with special emphasis on how to measure and optimize them. Finally, the review analyses the integration of(photo)electrodes in different photoelectrolyzer architectures, analyzing the most recent research work that comprises photocathode, photoanode,photocathode-photoanode, and tandem photoelectrolyzer configurations to ideally achieve self-sustained CO_(2) conversion systems. Overall, comprehensive guidelines are provided for future advancements in developing effective devices for CO_(2) conversion, bridging the gap towards the use of sunlight as the unique energy input and practical applications.

In the last decades China has grown to the point of becoming a world-wide economy and it’s now approaching Latin America in search for resources for its market and for its vast *** this paper,not only the different ways in which China has approach Latin America,are studied but also how this Asian giant influenced the Colombian economy,an economy that has been for years dependent on the United states and European *** direct investment and trade data from different organizations and databanks was taken into consideration and added to the database and studied through statistical and descriptive *** trade has made China one of the most important economic allies for *** countries such as Chile that already have a free trade agreement（FTA）with China set the bases for reference and analysis for economies like Colombia which has learned to benefit from China but still has the weight of a historical deficit in balance of trade that carries both negative and positive effects on the Colombian *** impact encourages Colombia to look for ways of improving and expanding its basket of trade and consider tax liberations probably a free trade agreement.

Functional traits shape size-dependent growth and mortality rates of dry forest tree species

Aims Functional traits have emerged as an important tool to evaluate plant ***,the environmental conditions and ecological pressures that plants face change with their size,and the relationship between traits and plant performance should therefore be size-dependent,which has rarely been *** Here,we evaluated over a broad range of tree sizes the interspe-cific relationship between tree growth and mortality and eight func-tional stem,leaf and seed *** did so across 59 tree species in Brazilian dry forests and evaluated whether the relationships found for wet forest types in the literature also hold for dry forests,where water rather than light might limit tree *** Findings We indeed found a strong size-dependent relationship between demographic rates and functional *** small sizes,when trees are in the shaded understory,species with functional trait values that enhance light capture or shade tolerance(*** maximum adult stature,taller heights,wider crowns,higher seed mass)have higher growth and/or lower mortality rates(MR).This relationship disappears at larger sizes when trees attain better light conditions in the *** adaptations play only a role at larger tree sizes;once trees are in the dry and exposed canopy,species with higher wood density(an indicator of cavitation resistance)have lower *** study shows that both drought and shade adaptations are important in this dry forest,and that the relationships between func-tional traits and plant performance changes with plant *** size should therefore explicitly be included as an axis of variation in functional analyses,to better understand the relationship between functional traits and demographic rates.
