Background:The Iberian Peninsula comprises one of the largest boundaries between Mediterranean and Eurosiberian vegetation,known as sub-Mediterranean *** ecotone hosts many unique plant species and communities and constitutes the low-latitude(warm)margin of numerous central European species which co-occur with Mediterranean *** of the main species found in this region are the Eurosiberian European beech(Fagus sylvatica L.)and the Mediterranean Pyrenean oak(Quercus pyrenaica Willd.).It remains unclear how the different physiological and adaptive strategies of these two species reflect their niche partitioning within a subMediterranean community and to what extent phenotypic variation(intraspecific variability)is driv.ng niche partitioning across Eurosiberian and Mediterranean ***:We quantified functional niche partitioning,based on the n-dimensional hypervolume to nine traits related to resource acquisition strategies(leaf,stem and root)plus relative growth rate as an additional wholeplant trait,and the environmental niche similarity between Pyrenean oak and European ***,we analyzed the degree of phenotypic variation of both target species and its relationship with relative growth rates(RGR)and environmental *** recruitment was measured for both target species as a proxy for the average ***:Species’functional space was highly segregated(13.09%overlap),mainly due to differences in niche breadth(59.7%)rather than niche replacement(25.6%),and beech showed higher trait variability,i.e.,had larger functional ***,both species shared the environmental space,i.e.,environmental niches were *** plant traits were not related to abiotic variables or RGR,neither did RGR to plant ***:Both target species share similar environmental space,however,show notably different functional resource-use strategies,promoting a high complementarity that contributes to maintaining a high functiona

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is a syndrome mimicking an acute myocardial infarction in absence of obstructive epicardial coronary artery disease to explain the degree of the wall motion abnormalities. Typically more common in the elderly women, this condition is usually triggered by unexpected emotional or physical stress situations, and is associated with electrocardiogram abnormalities and slight elevation of cardiac biomarkers. The pathophysiological mechanism is not clear yet, but it is believed that a high circulating concentration of catecholamines causes an acute dysfunction of the coronary microcirculation and metabolism of cardiomyocytes, leading to a transient myocardial stunning. Typically, it presents with acute left ventricular systolic dysfunction that in most cases is completely resolved at short term. Recurrences are rare and it is thought that the long-term prognosis is good. We present here a review of the clinical features, pathophysiology and management of this enigmatic condition.

AIM To summarize the current evidence on psychological issues in thoracic aortic disease(TAD) and infective endocarditis(IE) setting. METHODS We performed a narrative review about psychological issues in adults with IE and TAD. Through the electronic databases, Pub Med and Psyc InFO, we searched full manuscripts in English and published until September 1, 2014. RESULTS We found sixteen studies exploring psychological issues in patients with IE(six studies) and in TAD(ten papers). Psychological issues assessed were quality of life, depression, anxiety and posttraumatic stress disorder. Quality of life was explored in IE(four papers) and in TAD(eight papers). Depression and anxiety were analyzed in TAD only(five papers). Post-traumatic stress disorder was assessed in IE(one study). Quality of life was found impaired in three of four studies about IE and in three of eight studies about TAD. Posttraumatic stress disorder was present in 11% and was associated with lower levels of quality of life in IE patients. In TAD patients, anxiety and depression levels after different invasive interventions did not differ. COnCLUSIOn Sixteen studies report about psychological issues in IE and TAD. Most of them explore quality of life and to a less extent anxiety and depression.

Both arterial and venous thromboembolic events are common in patients hospitalized in intensive care units with severe COVID-19. These patients often have laboratory findings consistent with a hypercoagulable state, suggesting widespread thrombosis and fibrinolysis, as well as elevated levels of D-dimer, von Willebrand factor (VWF), and factor VIII. There is increasing evidence that these thromboembolic events are associated with worse outcomes. We present the case of a 61-year-old man admitted for bilateral pneumonia due to COVID-19 infection, who developed during his hospitalization;Bilateral pulmonary thromboembolism, an acute myocardial infarction due to multiple coronary thrombosis, an intracavitary thrombus and thrombus in the ascending aorta. The patient was treated with systemic fibrinolysis and full doses of anticoagulation for pulmonary embolism, an emergency primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) was performed with the implant of a drug eluting stent (DES) in the left anterior descending artery (LAD). Triple therapy with aspirin, clopidogrel and heparin was maintained until discharge. After the patient discharge, aspirin was stopped and treatment with clopidogrel and dabigatran was maintained for three months. In a subsequent outpatient control, the thrombi of the left ventricle and the ascending aorta resolved.

Multicenter application of a nursing workload measurement scale in adult hospitalization units

Objectives:The study aimed to the multicenter application of a nursing workload measurement scale in the internal medicine and surgery adults hospitalization ***:The study design was a multicenter,observational,and descriptive study.A multicenter application of the MIDEnF®nursing workload measurement scale was carried out,which consists of 21 items,and covers the four nursing functions(patient care items,teaching,manager,and researcher),in units of hospitalization of adults of internal medicine and surgery of four different *** item contains one or more of the nursing interventions of nursing Interventions Classification(nIC)and has an assigned time,after comparing the real time it takes to perform each intervention with the north American nursing Diagnosis Association(nAnDA)standardized *** study was carried out during nine months of the year 2020,measuring two days each month in the three work shifts(morning,evening,and night)to all patients admitted on the days of measurement in the indicated ***:The descriptive and inferential analysis of 11,756 completed scales,5,695 in general surgery and 6,061 in internal medicine,showed a greater care load for the two units during the morning shift(227,034 min in general surgery,261,835 min in internal medicine),especially in the items of“self-care”,“medication”,“common invasive procedures”,“fluid therapy”,and“patient and family support”,while the managerial function was similar during the three work shifts in the two units studied,getting values between 57,348 and 62,*** the analysis by shift and unit,statistical significance was obtained both for the total workload and the four nursing functions(Pnclusions:It is shown that the use of validated scales with the standardized language of nursing functions,adapted to the units,provides objective information to adjust the nursing staff to the real situation of care in any hospital and unit where it is applied,improving quality

Performance evaluation of lateral canopy shakers with catch frame for continuous harvesting of oranges for juice industry

Citrus is mainly oriented to fresh consumption,and harvesting is usually performed ***,the high cost of harvesting and the low availability of labour can compromise the profitability of the crop when it is destined to juice *** development of citrus mechanical harvesting for industrial processing is conditioned to reach a high fruit removal efficiency,with a reduced damage to both fruit and *** current machines available are very large,requiring extensive plantations with long rows of trees to be *** this study,two lateral canopy shakers equipped with a catch frame were evaluated to harvest independently both sides of the hedge on intensive citrus plantations with the main objective of determining their performance and *** lateral canopy shakers tested were three tractor-drawn machines,one commercial machine and two *** tested machines reached a mean value of 78%of fruit ***,the prototypes,equipped with a catch frame,were able to recover a mean value of 70%of *** the results were promising,for achieving an efficient result,the application of this harvesting technology still requires a process of improvement,and the adaptation of both the machine and the *** machines should reduce the amount of post-harvest ground fruit(5.9%-10.4%).Tree damages generated by the contact of the catch frame with the trunk and the metal rods with main branches were the most ***,it is still necessary to increase the ground speed of the machinery and improving the design of the rods,regulating the rod penetrating deep in the canopy to improve the fruit recovery and limit the damage caused to the trees.

为研究极端干旱对牧草生长的影响,选择多年生黑麦草(Lolium perenne,Lp)和雀麦(Bromus valdivianus,Bv)给予80%~85%植物有效水(Plant available water,PAW)和20%~25%PAW 2种水分处理,分析两种牧草生长及体内水分状况对干旱胁迫的响应。研究表明:80%~85%PAW充足水分下,两种牧草生物量积累、水势(Water potential,WP)、相对含水量(Relative water content,RWC)和净光合速率(net photosynthetic rate,Pn)无明显种间差异。Bv叶片宽而重,蒸腾速率(Transpiration rate,Tr)、CO_(2)总导度(Total conductance to CO_(2),CndCO_(2))和气孔导度(Conductance to H 2O,Gs)显著高于Lp。而Lp分蘗多、叶多汁,瞬时水分利用效率是Bv的1.63倍。20%~25%PAW对两种牧草生长影响不完全一致,叶饱和重、干重和叶面积有相反变化趋势,但与充足水分相比差异不显著;Pn,Tr,CndCO_(2),Gs和RWC则极显著降低,WP极显著降低了1.60 MPa,致使枯叶占比和叶温差显著升高。总之,雀麦和多年生黑麦草生长相近,水分利用模式不同;遭受极端干旱,不同种的两种牧草耐旱机制具有一定的共性,通过增强叶片持水力、降低水分循环、减少蒸腾失水以提高牧草抗旱性。
