This study.presents an analy.is of magnetic susceptibility.and natural gamma radioactivity.as indirect indicators of impurities in Cretaceous limestones of the Sabinas basin, as well as of the possible relation of these phy.ical properties with the changes in the sedimentation environment. Both of these phy.ical properties indicate changes in the degree of impurities and the mineralogical composition of this rock, principally.in its organic matter and detritus content. Considering that the sedimentation environment determines the impurities in these rocks, possible environmental conditions at different levels of the Cretaceous were suggested using the magnetic susceptibility. total gamma radiation and potassium values, as well as the uranium and thorium concentration in the limestones. The analy.es suggest variations in the depth of water table of the basin, which are mainly.related to transgressions and marine regressions.

The vegetative development of cabbage(Brassica oleracea ***)passes through seedling,rosette,folding and heading *** that form the rosette are large and mostly.*** the following developmental stages,the plants produce leaves that curve inward to produce the leafy.*** microRnAs and their target genes have been described participating in leaf development and leaf *** aim of this study.is to investigate the role of miRnA-regulated genes in the transition from the rosette to the heading *** compared the mi RnA and gene abundances between emerging rosette and heading *** remove transcripts(miRnAs and genes)whose regulation was most likely.associated with plant age rather than the change from rosette to heading stage,we utilized a non-heading collard green(*** ***)morphoty.e as *** resulted in 33 DEMs and 1998 DEGs with likely.roles in the transition from rosette to heading stage in *** these 1998 DEGs,we found enriched GO terms related to DnA-binding transcription factor activity.transcription regulator activity.iron ion binding,and *** predicted the target genes of these 33 DEMs and focused on the subset that was differentially.expressed(1998DEGs)between rosette and heading stage leaves to construct mi RnA-target gene interaction *** main finding is a role for miR396b-5p targeting two Arabidopsis thaliana orthologues of GROWTH REGULATInG FACTORs 3(GRF3)and 4(GRF4)in pointed cabbage head formation.

Habitat alterations in agroecosy.tems may.damage amphibian immune capacity. As agroecosy.tem extension is increasing worldwide, broader-context knowledge on the effects of agroecosy.tem stressful conditions on amphibian immune capacity.is crucial for understanding and management of amphibian global declines. However, most studies on ecoimmunology.assume sy.chronal amonggroup immune-response peaks, and focus on immune response after standardized time lapses, neglecting its progress!on. Herein, I compared inflamatory.response short-term progression of agro ecosy.tem and n atural-habitat female and male n atterjack toads Epi da lea calamita, by.measuri ng swelling response, once per hour, 6 h following an artificial immune challenge with innocuous antigen phy.ohemagglutinin. I also compared maximum magnitude of swelling response, irrespective of the moment when it was reached. Habitat differences arose only.3 h after challenge, when naturalhabitat toads showed greater swelling response. Maximum magnitude of swelling response was similar in toads from both habitats. However, agroecosy.tem toads showed a delay.d swelling response as compared with natural-habitat conspecifics, probably.as a consequenee of agroecosy.tem stressful conditions. Such a delay.suggests a weaker immune capacity. and consequently.impaired anti-pathogen performance. Regarding sex, swelling response magnitude did not differ between males and females. Female swelling response peaked earlier, but that of males was more sustai ned in time, which con tradicts general across-taxa fin dings that males show impaired immune response. Interestingly. results suggest that measuring swelling response only.after some standardized period following stimulation may.be a simplistic approach and produce unrealistic results. Consequently. studies on ecoimmunology.should implement swelling response progression in order to produce unbiased science.

As part of efforts to restore fishery.resources and recover damaged coastal ecosy.tems,artificial reefs are often anchored on the seafloor in coastal zones,to provide new habitats for marine *** aim of the study.was to describe the structure of a community.of benthic invertebrates colonising a niche-ty.e artificial reef(AATn in Spanish).nine structures were anchored at depths of 16±1.5 m for 99 weeks(22 months)in the Area of Benthic Resource Management and Exploitation(AMERB)in coastal waters of the Region of Bio Bio,*** results showed that,at 3 months from submersion of the nTAR,much of the artificial substrate remained bare and there were only.low levels of specimens of Balanus ***,showing mean coverage of 11.26%,and even lower proportions of Rhodophy.a,with mean coverage of 0.34%.At 6 months,the presence of hy.rozoans was seen,decreasing the coverage of the barnacles,which was aided further at 8 months with the arrival of barnacle predatory.*** 8 months,new benthic invertebrates appeared and competed for the *** included sponges and *** 99 weeks,the hy.rozoans dominated the substrate,followed by.barnacles and Rhodophy.a,the first colonising organisms,leading to colonisation by.motile macro-invertebrates,mainly.consisting of crustaceans,echinoderms and *** AATn artificial sy.tem provides an ideal substrate for the development of early.ecological succession and the use of this technology.should be feasible in the recovery.process of habitat damaged by.anthropogenic actions and climate change.

The Guole biota contains common shelly.fossils and some exceptionally.well-preserved softbodied fossils. Stratigraphically. it is located in the mudstones and siltstones of the Sandu Formation near Guole Town, Jingxi County. Guangxi, South China. It is the first Furongian （late Cambrian） Burgess Shale-ty.e biota found in the world, thereby.filling the gap between middle Cambrian and Lower Ordovician Burgess Shale-ty.e Lagerstaitten. Preliminary.studies suggest that the Guole biota includes approximately.seven metazoan groups as well as algae. These will provide important new evolutionary.and ecological information.

Objectives： This study.aimed to evaluate the in vitro antioxidant capacity. to determine the anti-inflammatory.effect due to lipoxy.enase inhibition and to test the antimicrobial activity.of ethanolic extracts from leaves of seven climbing species belonging to the Bignoniaceae family. These species are Adenocaly.nrna rnarginatum （Cham.） DC., Amphilophium vauthieri DC., Cuspidaria convoluta （VEIL） A. H. Gentry. Dolichandra dentata （K. Schum.） L. G. Lohmann, Fridericia caudigera （S. Moore） L. G. Lohmann, Fridericia chica （Bonpl.） L. G. Lohmann and Tanaecium selloi （Spreng.） L. G. Lohmann. Methods： The antioxidant activity.was evaluated using three methods, 2,2＇-azino-bis（3-ethy.benzothiazo line-6-sulfonic acid）（ABTS）, 2,2-dipheny.-l-picry.hy.razy. （DPPH）, and ferric reducing antioxidant power. Lipoxy.enase-inhibiting activity.was assay.d spectrophotometrically. the result was expressed as percent inhibition. The antimicrobial activity.was assessed using the agar disk diffusion method. Minimal inhibitory.concentration （MIC） and minimal bactericidal]fungicidal concentration were also determined for each extract against 12 pathogenic bacterial strains of Staphy.ococcus aureus and seven fungal strains of the Candida genus. The identification of the major compounds present in the most promising extract was established by.high-performance liquid chromatography.tandem mass spectrometry. Results： C convoluta, F. caudigera, and F. chica exhibited the best antioxidant activity.by.scavenging DPPH and ABTS~ radicals and reducing Fe3＋ ion. These extracts showed a notable inhibition of lipnxy.enase. F. caudigera was found to have the lower MIC value against S. aureus strains and six Candida species. The extracts of F. caudigera and C. convoluta were active even against methicillin-resistant S. aureus. C convoluta had higher total phenol content, better antioxidant activity.and superior anti- inflammatory.and antimicrobial activity. The main phenolic compounds found in this extract
