Th.s study experimentally investigated th. film cooling flowfield of a single row of diffusion h.les, from wh.ch.th. secondary air flow was injected into a turbulent boundary layer with.zero pressure gradient on a flat plate. Circular-sh.ped h.les were also tested as a basis for comparison. All th. h.les were inclined downstream at 35° with.respect to th. surface and th. lateral spacing between th. h.les was 3 diameters of th. h.le. Th. mainstream velocity was maintained at 17 m/s and th. Reynolds number based on th. injection h.le diameter was almost 11000. Th. density ratio of th. jet to mainstream was 1.0, and th. jet-to-mainstream velocity ratios M were 0.5 and 1.5. Normal-type and X-type h.t wire anemometries were used to measure th. streamwise mean velocity and its components, th. normal and sh.ar turbulent Reynolds stress components at th. locations from th. backward edge of th. injection h.le to 25 diameters downstream.

Th. low cycle fatigue strength.properties of th. additively manufactured Ti-6Al-4V alloy are experimentally investi-gated under proportional and nonproportional multiaxial *** fatigue tests were conducted using h.llow cylinder specimens with.and with.ut h.at treatments,at room temperature in *** fatigue tests were conducted:one for proportional loading and one for nonproportional *** proportional loading was represented by a push.pull strain path.PP)and th. nonproportional loading by a circle strain path.Cl).Th. failure lives of th. additively manufactured specimens were clearly reduced drastically by internal voids and ***,th. sizes of th. defects were measured,and th. defects were found not to cause a reduction in fatigue strength.above a critical *** fracture surface was observed using scanning electron microscopy to investigate th. fracture mech.nisms of th. additively manufactured specimens under th. two types of strain *** fracture patterns were recognized for each.strain path.;h.wever,both.sh.wed retention of th. crack propagation,despite th. presence of numerous defects,probably because of th. interaction of th. *** crack propagation properties of th. materials with.numerous defects under nonproportional multiaxial loading were clarified to increase th. reliability of th. additively manufactured components.

A new kind of instability driven by th. magnetic field gradient and curvature (MFGC) in toroidal plasmas is presented. It is found th.t th. MFGC drift modes possess finite growth.rates even if th. plasma pressure gradient vanish.s. In addition, th. effects of plasma pressure gradient and safety factor on th. MFGC modes h.ve been analysed numerically.

Nanocomposites α-Fe/Fe 3B/Y 2O 3 were prepared by a melt-spun tech.ique, and th. electromagnetic wave absorption properties were measured in th. 0 05～20 05 Gh. range. Compared with.α-Fe/Y 2O 3 composites, th. resonance frequency (f r) of α-Fe/Fe 3B/Y 2O 3 sh.fted to a h.gh.r frequency range due to th. large anisotropy field (h. A) of tetragonal Fe 3B (～0 4 mA·m -1). Th. relative permittivity (ε r=ε r′-jε r″) was constantly low over th. 0 5～10 Gh. region, wh.ch.indicates th.t th. composite powders h.ve a h.gh.resistivity (ρ=～100 Ωm). Th. effective electromagnetic wave absorption (RLh. on resin composites of 80% (mass fraction) α-Fe/Fe 3B/Y 2O 3 powders, with.th.ckness of 6～3 mm respectively. A minimum reflection loss of -33 dB was observed at 4.5 Gh. with.an absorber th.ckness of 4 mm.

Th.oretical and experimental studies associated with.electric field effectson th. stability and transport are briefly surveyed. Th. effects of radial electric field on th.suppression and/or enh.ncement of various microinstabilities such.as drift waves, flute mode andtemperature gradient modes are discussed. Th. suppression of flow sh.ar on th. electron temperaturegradient mode in plasmas with.sligh.ly h.llow density profiles is investigated by solving th.gyrokinetic integral eigenvalue equation. Comparison between th.oretical predictions andexperimental observations based on th. h.BP measurements with.h.gh.temporal and spatial resolutionsis made in bumpy tori and h.liotron (Ch.) devices.

Magnetic Properties of Nd-Fe-B Sintered Magnet Powders Recovered by Yb Metal Vapor Sorption

Fine ground powders of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnet bulks (particle size=46～125 μm in diameter) were coated and alloyed with.Yb metal by sorbing th.m. A significant recovery of th. decreased magnetic properties of th. ground powders (remanence B r=～0.95 T, coercivity h. cj =～227 kA·m -1 and maximum energy product (Bh. max=～48 8 kJ·m -3) was observed in accordance with.increasing temperature up to 800 ℃. Th. sorbing temperature and time for Yb metal vapor were optimized and after h.ating at 800 ℃ for 90 min and annealing subsequently at 610 ℃ for 60 min, th. B r, h. cj and (Bh. max values were increased to be 0.98 T, 712 kA·m -1 and 173 kJ·m -3, respectively. From th. microstructural ch.racterizations of resulting samples by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and electron probe X-ray microanalyzer (EPMA), it is found th.t th. sorbed Yb metal uniformly covers th. surface and diffuses to th. Nd-rich.grain boundary of fine ground powders of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnet bulks forming a (Nd,Yb)Fe 2 ph.se.

Th. reduction diffusion meth.d was performed for th. sludge scrap of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets with.adding Ca metal to recover th. oxidized Nd-Fe-B ph.se. After wash.ng th. resultant powders to remove Ca metal component, th. powders obtained were recycled as an isotropic magnetic powder by th. melt spinning meth.d. Th. magnetic properties of powders as recycled were inferior, especially for th. coercivity value, due to th. deletion of rare earth.metals during th. wash.ng process. Th. adjustment of metal composition, i.e., th. addition of Nd metal, at th. melt spinning process improved th. magnetic properties to be B r=～0.75 T, h. cj=～0.93 mA·m -1, and (Bh. max=～91 kJ·m -3. Th. magnetic properties of th. bonded magnets prepared from th. composition-adjusted powders were B r=～0.66 T, h. cj=～0.92 mA·m -1, and (Bh. max=～70 kJ·m -3, wh.ch.are approximately comparable to th. commercially available MQPB boned one (B r=～0.73 T, h. cj=～0.79 mA·m -1, and (Bh. max=～86 kJ·m -3).

New pyrometallurgical process of EAF dust treatment with.CaO addition

Th. non-carboth.rmic zinc pyrometallurgical processing of electric arc furnace(EAF) dust was investigated on a laboratory scale. Th. main objective of th.s process was to convert h.gh.y stable zinc ferrite(Zn Fe2O4), wh.ch.accounts for more th.n h.lf of total zinc in th. EAF dust, into Zn O and Ca2Fe2O5 by Ca O addition. Th. EAF dust was mixed with.Ca O powder in various ratios, pressed into pellets, and h.ated in a muffle furnace in air at temperatures ranging from 700 to 1100°C for a predetermined h.lding time. All Zn Fe2O4 was transformed into Zn O and Ca2Fe2O5 at a minimum temperature of 900°C with.n 1 h.wh.n sufficient Ca O to ach.eve a Ca/Fe molar ratio of 1.1 was added. h.wever, at h.gh.r temperatures, excess Ca O beyond th. stoich.ometric ratio was required because it was consumed by reactions leading to th. formation of compounds oth.r th.n Zn Fe2O4. Th. evaporation of h.lides and h.avy metals in th. EAF dust was also studied. Th.se components could be preferentially volatilized into th. gas ph.se at 1100°C wh.n Ca O was added.
