Impact of Action Observation Therapy along with Usual Physiotherapy Intervention of Individual with Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive impairments in the initial stage, which lead to severe cognitive dysfunction in the later stage. Action observation therapy (AOT) is a multisensory cognitive rehabilitation technique where the patient initially observes the actions and then tries to perform. The study aimed to examine the impact of AOT along with usual physiotherapy interventions to reduce depression, improve cognition and balance of a patient with AD. A 67 years old patient with AD was selected for this study because the patient has been suffering from depression, dementia, and physical dysfunction along with some other health conditions like diabetes and hypertension. Before starting intervention, a baseline assessment was done through the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) tool, the Mini-Cog Scale, and the Berg Balance Scale (BBS). The patient received 12 sessions of AOT along with usual physiotherapy interventions thrice a week for four weeks, which included 45 minutes of each session. After four weeks of intervention, the patient demonstrated significant improvement in depression, cognition, and balance, whereas the BDI score declined from moderate 21/63 to mild 15/63 level of depression. The Mini-Cog score improved from 2/5 to 4/5, and the BBS score increased from 18/56 to 37/56. It is concluded that AOT along with usual physiotherapy intervention helps to reduce depression, improve cognition and balance of people with AD.

Hybrid Effects on MHD Mixed Convective Boundary Layer Flow through a Sloped Plate in Existence of Nanofluid-Saturated Porous Medium

This study examines the effects of heat, mass, and boundary layer assumptions-based nanoparticle characteristics on the hybrid effects of using MHD in conjunction with mixed convective flow through a sloped vertical pore plate in the existence of medium of porous. Physical characteristics such as thermo-diffusion, injection-suction, and viscous dissipation are taken into consideration, in addition to an equally distributed magnetic force utilized as well in the completely opposite path of the flow. By means of several non-dimensional transformations, the momentum, energy, concentration, and nanoparticle volume fraction equations under investigation are converted in terms of nonlinear boundary layer equations and computationally resolved by utilizing the sixth-order Runge-Kutta strategy in combination together with the iteration of Nachtsheim-Swigert shooting procedure. By contrasting the findings produced for a few particular examples with those found in the published literature, the correctness of the numerical result is verified, and a rather good agreement is found. Utilizing various ranges of pertinent factors, computing findings are determined not only regarding velocity, temperature, and concentration as well as nanoparticle fraction of volume but also concerning with local skin-friction coefficient, local Nusselt and general Sherwood numbers associated with nanoparticle Sherwood number. The findings of the study demonstrate that increasing the fluid suction parameter decreases the velocity and temperature of the flow field in conjunction with concentration and has a variable impact on the nanoparticle fraction of volume, despite an increasing behavior in the local skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt as well as general Sherwood numbers and an increasing behavior in the local nanoparticle Sherwood number. Does dutasteride reduce the bleeding in transurethral resection of the prostate in patients on antiplatelet drugs?

Prevalence and Characterization of Pathogens Responsible for Enteric Fever and Assessment of Their Antibiotic Susceptibility Pattern in Bangladesh

In Bangladesh, Enteric fever is a persistent health issue throughout the year, occasionally reaching epidemic levels. The growing antibiotic resistance makes treatment increasingly challenging. Therefore, studying the antibiotic resistance patterns within the population is crucial to ensure a more effective treatment strategy. This study was designed to determine the prevalence, antimicrobial susceptibility profile, and factors associated with Salmonella spp. infections among clinically suspected Enteric fever patients in Bangladesh. This study also aimed to investigate whether there has been a re-emergence in the susceptibility of bacterial strains to conventional drugs. Data were collected from February 2024 to July 2024, from patients suspected Enteric fever (fever less than seven days duration) in a Private Diagnostic Center of Bangladesh. A total of 195 blood samples were cultured, where 53.85% came out positive, among which 79.05% Salmonella typhi and 20.95% Salmonella paratyphi A were found. Prevalence of Typhoid fever was observed high among the school-going age group (0 - 15 years) patients. Both these organisms were susceptible to ceftazidime, cefixime, ceftriaxone and cefepime but resistant to nalidixic acid, ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin. Nalidixic Acid is resistant to all S. paratyphi A and sensitive to few S. typhi. Ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin showed delayed response (36.14% and 22.72% sensitive to S. typhi and S. paratyphi A, respectively) and resistance (63.85% and 77.27% resistant to S. typhi and S. paratyphi A, respectively). In case of S. typhi, the resistance was found against ampicillin (32.53%), chloramphenicol (27.71%), cotrimoxazole (24.09%) and the resistance of S. paratyphi A found against ampicillin (4.54%), chloramphenicol (0%) and cotrimoxazole (0%). This study will provide clinicians with alternative drug options and facilitate the effective treatment of Enteric fever.

An Evaluation of the Critical Success Factors in Sustainable Food Supply Chains in Developing Countries

Food is one of the biggest industries in developed and underdeveloped countries. Supply chain sustainability is essential in established and emerging economies because of the rising acceptance of cost-based outsourcing and the growing technological, social, and environmental concerns. The food business faces serious sustainability and growth challenges in developing countries. A comprehensive analysis of the critical success factors (CSFs) influencing the performance outcome and the sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) process. A theoretical framework is established to explain how they are used to examine the organizational aspect of the food supply chain life cycle analysis. This study examined the CSFs and revealed the relationships between them using a methodology that included a review of literature, interpretative structural modeling (ISM), and cross-impact matrix multiplication applied in classification (MICMAC) tool analysis of soil liquefaction factors. The findings of this research demonstrate that the quality and safety of food are important factors and have a direct effect on other factors. To make sustainable food supply chain management more adequate, legislators, managers, and experts need to pay attention to this factor. In this work. It also shows that companies aiming to create a sustainable business model must make sustainability a fundamental tenet of their organization. Practitioners and managers may devise effective long-term plans for establishing a sustainable food supply chain utilizing the recommended methodology.

开发高效窄带发射的有机发光材料是实现有机发光二极管高色纯度、高分辨的关键.针对有机发光分子的发射光谱谱较宽的问题,基于芘基发光材料体系,提出了利用空间立体效应窄化发光分子的半峰宽的分子设计策略.利用空间位阻效应,通过在芘的2-位引入大位阻的取代基团,降低了3-位取代基团三苯胺的分子转动,设计合成的芘基发光分子5具有相对高的固态量子产率(>0.31)和固态下较窄的半峰宽(相较于溶液态和没有立体效应存在下).特别的,制备的化合物5c在固态下显示出最大的发射峰位于484 nm,量子产率较高(0.38)和发射半峰宽较窄(49 nm).

Extreme exposure of fluoride and arsenic contamination in shallow coastal aquifers of the Ganges delta,transboundary of the Indo-Bangladesh region

Assessment of BRRI Whole Feed Combine Harvester (Model BRRI WCH2021) for Mechanized Rice Harvesting in Bangladesh

Agricultural mechanization plays a pivotal role in the transition from subsistence to commercial agriculture, with a particular focus on labour-intensive activities like harvesting. This study assesses the operational characteristics of the BRRI Whole Feed Combine Harvester (Model BRRI WCH2021) at the field level. Developed under the SFMRA project, the harvester’s technical performance and loss assessment were conducted during the Boro 2022 and Aman 2022 seasons in farmer fields in Bangladesh’s Rangpur region. The field efficiency of the harvester was determined to be 62.5% and 57.9% in the Boro and Aman seasons, respectively. Fuel consumption rates were recorded at 2.77 l/ha and 2.31 l/ha for the Boro and Aman seasons. The total harvesting losses, encompassing cutter bar, shatter, cylinder, and separation loss, averaged 0.56% and 0.48% in the Boro and Aman seasons, respectively. Mechanized harvesting with the BRRI Whole Feed Combine Harvester significantly reduced paddy losses by 5.81% compared to manual methods. The field evaluation results indicate the combine harvester’s satisfactory performance, highlighting its potential to alleviate labour demands during peak harvesting. The development of the BRRI WCH offers a sustainable solution for rice harvesting mechanization among progressive farmers. It paves the way for the broader adoption of advanced agricultural technology in Bangladesh.
