Optimal Location to Use Solar Energy in an Urban Situation

This study conducted in Lima, Peru, a combination of spatial decisionmaking system and machine learning was utilized to identify potentialsolar power plant construction sites within the city. Sundial measurementsof solar radiation, precipitation, temperature, and altitude were collectedfor the study. Gene Expression Programming (GEP), which is based on theevolution of intelligent models, and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) wereboth utilized in this investigation, and the results obtained from each werecompared. Eighty percent of the data was utilized during the training phase,while the remaining twenty percent was utilized during the testing phase. Onthe basis of the findings, it was determined that the GEP is the most suitablenetwork for predicting the location. The test state’s Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency(NSE) was 0.90, and its root-mean-square error (RMSE) was 0.04. Followingthe generation of the final map based on the results of the GEP model, itwas determined that 9.2% of the province’s study area is suitable for theconstruction of photovoltaic solar power plants, while 53.5% is acceptable and37.3% is unsuitable. The ANN model reveals that only 1.7% of the study areais suitable for the construction of photovoltaic solar power plants, while 66.8%is acceptable and 31.5% is unsuitable.

Hydrogen is an alternative energy source that has the potential to replace fossil *** of the hydrogen applications is as a material for Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells(PEMFC)in fuel cell ***-purity hydrogen can be obtained using a hydrogen separation membrane to prevent unwanted contaminants from potentially harming the PEMFC *** this study,we fabricated a plasma membrane reactor and investigated the permeation performance of a hydrogen separation membrane in a plasma membrane reactor utilizing atmospheric pressure *** result showed the hydrogen permeation rate increasing with time as reactor temperature is increased through joule *** decreasing the gap length of the reactor from 2 to 1 mm,the hydrogen permeation rate increases by up to 40%.The hydrogen permeation rate increases by 30%when pressure is applied to the plasma membrane reactor by up to 100 kPa.

Evaluation of early growth performance of 41 clones of teak(Tectona grandis Linn. f.) at four microsites in Purwakarta,Indonesia

Teak(Tectona grandis Linn. f.), one of the mostvalued tree species in the world, is slow-growing with a long period until it can be harvested;therefore, ensuring that only high-quality seedlings or clones are selected for planting is critical. The main objective was to determine performance and repeatability of selected clones in terms of growth and survival rates in different micro-environments. A 2-year clonal trial using 41 clones and a local seedling of teak as a control were grown at 4 microsites differing in spacing, soil fertility and alley crops to assess tree height, diameter and survival rate that was evaluated in Purwakarta, West Java, Indonesia using a randomized complete block design with four replicates of each clone at each microsite. Teak growth was influenced by clone(p < 0.01), microsite(p < 0.05) and clone 9 micrositeinteraction(p<0.01). The interaction clone 9 microsite resulted in several potential superior clones that differed in terms of growth rates at each microsite. On the basis of diameter only, superior clones(nos. 14, 18, 24, 30 and 37)were identified. Repeatability estimated was Rc2= 0.84 for diameter and Rc2= 0.77 for height. Growth performance of teak trees varied among microsites. Repeatability values for diameter and height characters were high. The effect of variable growth on each clone was influenced by genetic factors, environmental factors and the interaction of genetics 9 environment. Microsite significantly affected growth of teak clones. Clone 9 microsite interaction significantly affected growth of clones and led to the growth of superior clones at each microsite.

Hybrid Nanofluid Flow with Homogeneous-Heterogeneous Reactions

This study examines the stagnation point flow over a stretching/shrinking sheet in a hybrid nanofluid with homogeneous-heterogeneous *** hybrid nanofluid consists of copper(Cu)and alumina(Al2O3)nanoparticles which are added into water to form Cu-Al2O3/water hybrid *** similarity equations are obtained using a similarity ***,the function bvp4c in MATLAB is utilised to obtain the numerical *** dual solutions are found for limited values of the stretching/shrinking ***,the turning point arises in the shrinking region(λ<0).Besides,the presence of hybrid nanoparticles enhances the heat transfer rate,skin friction coefficient,and the concentration *** addition,the concentration gradient is intensified with the heterogeneous reaction but the effect is opposite for the homogeneous ***,the velocity and the concentration increase,whereas the temperature decreases for higher compositions of hybrid ***,the concentration decreases for larger values of homogeneous and heterogeneous *** is consistent with the fact that higher reaction rate cause a reduction in the rate of ***,the velocity and the temperature are not affected by these *** these observations,it can be concluded that the effect of the homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions is dominant on the concentration *** solutions are obtained for a single value of *** temporal stability analysis shows that only one of these solutions is stable and thus physically reliable over time.

An Efficient Schema Transformation Technique for Data Migration from Relational to Column-Oriented Databases

Data transformation is the core process in migrating database from relational database to NoSQL database such as column-oriented database. However,there is no standard guideline for data transformation from relational database toNoSQL database. A number of schema transformation techniques have been proposed to improve data transformation process and resulted better query processingtime when compared to the relational database query processing time. However,these approaches produced redundant tables in the resulted schema that in turnconsume large unnecessary storage size and produce high query processing timedue to the generated schema with redundant column families in the transformedcolumn-oriented database. In this paper, an efficient data transformation techniquefrom relational database to column-oriented database is proposed. The proposedschema transformation technique is based on the combination of denormalizationapproach, data access pattern and multiple-nested schema. In order to validate theproposed work, the proposed technique is implemented by transforming data fromMySQL database to MongoDB database. A benchmark transformation techniqueis also performed in which the query processing time and the storage size arecompared. Based on the experimental results, the proposed transformation technique showed significant improvement in terms query processing time and storagespace usage due to the reduced number of column families in the column-orienteddatabase.

Effect of Fe_2O_3/SiO_2 ratio on maghemite-silica particulate nanocomposites

Abstract： Maghemite-silica particulate nanocomposites were prepared by modified 2-step sol-gel process. Superparamagnetic maghemite nanoparticles were successfully produced using Massart＇s procedure. Nanocomposites consisting of synthesized maghemite nanoparticles and silica were produced by dispersing the as-synthesized maghemite nanoparticles into the silica particulate form. The system was then heated at 140 ℃for 3 d. A variety of mass ratios of Fe2O3/SiO2 was investigated. Moreover, no surfactant or other unnecessary precursor was involved. The nanocomposites were characterized using XRD, BET and AGM. The XRD diffraction patterns show the reflection corresponding to maghemite nanoparticles and a visible wide band at 20 from 20° to 35° which are the characteristics of the amorphous phase of the silica gel. The patterns also exhibit the presence of only maghemite and SiO2 amorphous phase, which indicates that there is no chemical reaction between the silica particulate gel and maghemite nanoparticles to form other compounds. The calculated crystallite size for encapsulated maghemite nanoparticles is smaller than the as-synthesized maghemite nanoparticles indicating the dissolution of the nanoparticles. Very high surface area is attained for the produced nanocomposites （360-390 m^2/g）. This enhances the sensitivity and the reactivity of the nanocomposites. The shapes of the magnetization curves for nanocomposites are very similar to the as-synthesized maghemite nanoparticles. Superparamagnetic behaviour is exhibited by all samples, indicating that the size of the maghemite nanoparticles is always within the nanometre range. The increase in iron content gives rise to a small particle growth.

Tolerance and biosorption of copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) by filamentous fungi isolated from a freshwater ecosystem

Filamentous fungi are able to accumulate significant amount of metals from their environment. The potential of fungal biomass as agents for biosorption of heavy metals from contaminated sediments is currently receiving attention. In the present study, a total of 41 isolates of filamentous fungi obtained from the sediment of the Langat River, Selangor, Malaysia were screened for their tolerance and uptake capability of copper （Cu） and lead （Pb）. The isolates were identified as Aspergillus niger, A. fumigatus, Trichoderma asperellum, Penicillium simplicissimurn and P. janthinellum. A. niger and P. simplicissimum, were able to survive at 1000 mg/L of Cu（Ⅱ） concentration on Potato Dextrose Agar （PDA） while for Pb, only A. niger survived at 5000 mg/L concentration. The results showed that A. niger, P. simplicissimum and T. asperellum have a better uptake capacity for Pb compared to Cu and the findings indicated promising biosorption of Cu and Pb by these filamentous fungi from aqueous solution. The present study was also determined the maximum removal of Cu（Ⅱ） and Pb（Ⅱ） that was performed by A. niger. The metal removal which occurred at Cu（Ⅱ） 200 mg/L was （20.910 ＋ 0.581） mg/g and at 250 mg/L of PbⅡ） was （54.046 ± 0.328） mg/g.

Ultrafine bubbles and low doses of gamma irradiation had a positive effect on seed *** research tested the effectiveness of ultrafine bubbles(UFB)water and gamma irradiation for improving the viability and vigor of Albizia chinensis(Osbeck)*** that had been stored for four years.A completely randomized two-factor experiment,i.e.,UFB water and gamma irradiation treatments,were used to determine the best seed *** UFB water treatment had a significant effect on all seed germination parameters;the gamma irradiation treatment did not have a significant effect on improving the viability and vigor of the seeds,with a very low initial germination(11.7%).Soaking the seeds in UFB water for 30 min gave the best germination(51.3%).These improvements also occurred in other germination parameters such as germination rate,germination value,radicle length and vigor *** UFB water treatment has the potential to improve the germination of seeds with low physiological qualities.

High Power Highly Nonlinear Holey Fiber with Low Confinement Loss for Supercontinuum Light Sources

The high power holey fiber is an efficient supercontinuum light source by using picosecond pulse,which is a less expensive laser source compared with low power and expensive femtosecond laser sources. In this paper, a high power highly nonlinear holey fiber(HN-HF) with a low confinement loss is proposed for supercontinuum light sources. The finite difference method is used to calculate the different properties of the proposed HN-HF. High nonlinear coefficients are obtained at 1.06 μm, 1.31μm, and 1.55μm wavelengths with flattened chromatic dispersion and low confinement losses simultaneously. Moreover, numerical simulation results show that high power broad supercontinuum spectra with very short length of the proposed photonic crystal fiber are achieved.
