Future high-speed mobile communication systems require low latency and high capacity *** wavelength division multiplexing(WDM)passive optical network(PON)scheme is expected to play a vital role in these *** this paper,coherent WDM-PON scheme based on dual-polarization 16-quadrature amplitude modulation(DP-16 QAM)transceiver has been *** aim of this scheme is to build a 2 Tbit/s(125 Gbit/s/λ×16 wavelengths)network that will be used in the construction of the transport architecture of fifth generation(5 G)and beyond 5 G(B5 G)cellular networks either in mobile front haul(MFH)or mobile back haul(MBH).The results indicate that the proposed scheme is very adequate for both 5 G and B5 G cellular networks requirements.

A thermal emitter composed of a frequency-selective surface metamaterial layer and a hexagonal boron nitride-encapsulated graphene filament is demonstrated. The broadband thermal emission of the metamaterial （consisting of ring resonators） was tailored into two discrete bands, and the measured reflection and emission spectra agreed well with the simulation results. The high modulation frequencies that can be obtained in these devices, coupled with their operation in air, confirm their feasibility for use in applications such as gas sensing.

Interest in soundless chemical demolition agents (SCDAs), also known as expansive cements, as potentially viable alternatives to explosives for rock fragmentation, has been growing in recent years. Consequently, there is an increasing amount of literature on the use of SCDA for the breakage of rock blocks and boulders. Limited research has been conducted so far on the breakage of excavation fronts, such as tunnel or drift faces, using SCDA. This is due to the perception that the planar compressive in-situ stresses in the face would inhibit the creation and propagation of fracturing due to expansive pressure. This study proposes a novel V-cut method for demolishing rock panels under biaxial stress using SCDA. This method was examined through large-scale tests and numerical modelling. The rock panels were subjected to high biaxial confinements of 26 MPa and 40 MPa. Such a level of confinement corresponds to an in-situ stress state 1000 m below the surface in the Canadian shield. The V-cut drillhole pattern employs two sets of three SCDA holes angled at 45° from the face of a Stanstead granite panel. The drillhole arrangement aims to create a V-shaped wedge in the plane of major principal stress. When angled drillholes are subjected to expansive pressure, they tend to cast out of the panel face, causing fragmentation. Two panels of 1 m × 1 m × 0.25 m were successfully demolished using the proposed method. The three-dimensional fast Lagrangian analysis code FLAC3D modelling was used to reconstruct the panel failure mechanism owing to the V-cut. This study demonstrates the feasibility of fragmenting an excavation front, such as a rock excavation face, with SCDA using a V-cut drill hole pattern while subjected to high biaxial confinement. © 2024 Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Objective:To investigate the antidiabetic,hypolipidaemic activities and histopathological changes ofIcacina trichantha(***)tuber extract in alloxan induced diabetic ***:In the present study,80%methanol extract of *** was tested on alloxan induced diabetic *** were randomly grouped into control(distilled water and glibenclamide)and experimental(200,400 and 600 mg/kg body weight).Diabetes was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of 160 mg/kg body weight of *** glucose levels weremeasured using blood glucose test strips with AccuCheck Advantage II glucometer at 1,3,6,and 24 h on the first day and 1 h after treatment on Day 7,14 and *** samples were collected and centrifuged to separate serum for estimation of lipid profile and other biochemical *** changes in diabetic rats pancreas were also studied after extract ***:Daily oral administration *** extract(200,400,and 600 mg/kg bodyweight)and glibenclamide(2 mg/kg)showed beneficial effects on blood glucose level(P<0.01)as well as improving liver,kidney functions and hyperlipidaemia due to *** extract had a favourable effect on the histopathological changes of the pancreas in alloxan induced ***:*** extracts posses antidiabetic activities as well as improve liver and renal profile and total lipids *** extracts also have favourable effects to inhibit the histopathological changes of the pancreas in alloxan induced diabetes.

While gait recognition is the mapping of a gait sequence to an identity known to the system, gait authentication refers to the problem of identifying whether a given gait sequence belongs to the claimed identity. A typical gait authentication system starts with a feature representation such as a gait template, then proceeds to extract its features, and a transformation is ultimately applied to obtain a discriminant feature set. Almost every authentication approach in literature favours the use of Euclidean distance as a threshold to mark the boundary between a legitimate subject and an impostor. This article proposes a method that uses the posterior probability of a Bayes' classifier in place of the Euclidean distance. The proposed framework is applied to template-based gait feature representations and is evaluated using the standard CASIA-B gait database. Our study experimentally demonstrates that the Bayesian posterior probability performs significantly better than the de facto Euclidean distance approach and the cosine distance which is established in research to be the current state of the art.
