Surface of oxidized multiwalled carbon nanotubes was investigated for stabilization of nanosized tin(Iv) oxide. The synthesis of nanosized tin(Iv) oxide on the surface of carbon nanotubes was carried out with the use of three soft chemical methods: sol-gel, precipitation, and thermal. The synthesized tin(Iv) oxide particles on the surface of carbon nanotubes were studied by thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy. The lattice parameters of tin(Iv) oxide on the surface of multiwalled carbon nanotubes were calculated.

Tricin (and tricin containing plant extracts) has been shown to exert a pronounced antiviral activity, high radical scavenging activity and is favored for its safety profile. In the present study we have analyzed the pharmacokinetics of tricin after a single intravenous and oral administration to Wistar rats of an ethanol extract of Calamagrostis Adans and Deschampsia Beauv plants (test agent) at different doses. Tricin concentrations in blood plasma and blood cells were measured at different time points. Two-compartment (for intravenous injection) and one compartment (for oral administration) models were used for the analysis of tricin pharmacokinetics. The results showed that the pharmacokinetics of tricin after intravenous injection of test agent has a pronounced biphasic character, is well described by a two-compartment pharmacokinetic model, and is characterized by non-linear dose-dependence. The pharmacokinetics of tricin administered orally is characterized by a high rate of absorption from the gastrointestinal tract into the blood and rather slow elimination, which leads to a large volume of distribution in the body and a fairly high bioavailability. The obtained results indicate the advantages of the oral route of administration over the intravenous route.

Objectives: To study the effect of fetal stem cell(FSC) therapy on Grade Ⅰ and Ⅱrespiratory failure in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS) and muscular dystrophy(MD). Methods: A comparative study was conducted on 41 patients with Grade Ⅰ or Ⅱrespiratory failure(RF) resulting from ALS or MD. The patients were divided into 4 groups according to the underlying disease and the degree of RF. Patients underwent combined treatment, including the experimental application of FSC therapy, and were examined before FSC treatment, and 6 months and 12 months after treatment. Results: FSC treatment improved both subjective and objective breathing parameters as early as 6 months post‐treatment. A significant increase in the forced vital capacity(FvC) and forced expiratory volume in 1 second(FEv1) was reported by all patients with grade Ⅰ RF linked to ALS and MD compared to baseline. Patient respiratory improvement was maintained over the next 6 months. Grade Ⅱ RF patients with MD reported a significant improvement in FvC 12 months after treatment. Conclusions: Evidence for respiratory improvement was observed as early as 6 months in all patients after combined treatment including FSC therapy, and this was maintained for a further 6 months after therapy. In MD patients with Grade Ⅱ RF, treatment resulted in a significant FvC and FEv1 increase within 6 months and downgrading to Grade Ⅰ RF within a year after FSC treatment.
