Genetic Diversity of Taro Landraces from Côte d’Ivoire Based on Qualitative Traits of Leaves

Taro is an important crop species in Côte d’Ivoire. It is cultivated for its tubers and leaves. But its knowledge and genetic diversity and differentiation are very weakly documented. Several morphological types are found in rural area, but their identification is not very clear, and their agronomic potentiality is underexploited. In this context we initiated a survey and collected 213 accessions from 14 growing regions of Côte d’Ivoire. The diversity was evaluated based on seven qualitative traits of leaves (Shape of the base of the leaf, Predominant position (shape) of the leaf blade surface, Margin of the leaf blade, Leaf blade variegation, Profile of the petiolar junction, Shape of the leaf sheath, Shape of the appendix) during an experimentation conducted in rural area. The objective of this study was to characterize the collection of taros collected in different geographical zones of Côte d’Ivoire and identify the genera cultivated. Results of our study indicated that excepted margin of the leaf blade all traits are very discriminant. Several variants were observed for each of traits. According to observations and statistics analysis accessions were separated into two main groups. The characteristics of these groups indicate that taro cultivated in Côte d’Ivoire could belong to two genera: Xanthosoma and Colocasia.

Awareness of the adverse impact of air pollution on attention-related performance such as learning and driving is rapidly ***,there is still little known about the underlying neurocognitive *** an adapted dot-probe task paradigm and event-related potential(ERP)technique,we investigated how visual stimuli of air pollution influence the attentional allocation *** were required to make responses to the onset of a target presented at the left or right visual *** probable location of the target was forewarned by a cue(pollution or clean air images),appearing at either the target location(attention-holding trials)or the opposite location(attention-shifting trials).Behavioral measures showed that when cued by pollution images,subjects had higher response accuracy in attention-shifting *** analysis results revealed that after the cue onset,pollution images evoked lower N300 amplitudes,indicating less attentioncapturing effects of dirty *** the target onset,pollution cues were correlated with the higher P300 amplitudes in attention-holding trials but lower amplitudes in attention-shifting *** indicates that after visual exposure to air pollution,people need more neurocognitive resources to maintain attention but less effort to shift attention *** findings provide the first neuroscientific evidence for the distracting effect of air *** conclude with several practical implications and suggest the ERP technique as a promising tool to understand human responses to environmental stressors.

In seed breeding, the vibrating screen used for pre-sowing grading parental seeds often has the problem of poor self-purification rate. Using elastic balls to clean the plugging seeds and ensure the selfpurification of the screen is a viable technical solution. To clarify and improve the operating performance of the elastic ball particles, a DEM-MBD coupling simulation model of the elastic ball screencleaning device was established in this study, and a numerical simulation analysis of the complex motion process was carried out. The mechanism of action of the elastic ball was explained more completely from the aspects of excitation force and energy transfer. Through the Plackett-Burman test, it was determined that the vibration frequency has the most significant effect on the excitation force. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed on each factor and the mathematical relationship equation. It was found that when the maximum excitation force was greater than 7 N and the average excitation force was greater than 2 N, the self-purification rate was greater than 95%. The self-purification rate was then increased to 99.81% by variable frequency tests. The variable frequency achieved better selfpurification effect.
