The numerical approximation of the Spectral-Lagrangian scheme developed by the authors in [30] for a wide range of homogeneous non-linear Boltzmann type equations is extended to the space inhomogeneous case and several shock problems are benchmark. Recognizing that the Boltzmann equation is an important tool in the analysis of formation of shock and boundary layer structures, we present the computational algorithm in Section 3.3 and perform a numerical study case in shock tube geometries well modeled in for ID in x times 3D in v in Section 4. The classic Riemann problem is numerically analyzed for Knudsen numbers close to continuum. The shock tube problem of Aoki et al [2], where the wall temperature is suddenly increased or decreased, is also studied. We consider the problem of heat transfer between two parallel plates with diffusive boundary conditions for a range of Knudsen numbers from close to continuum to a highly rarefied state. Finally, the classical infinite shock tube problem that generates a non-moving shock wave is studied. The point worth noting in this example is that the flow in the final case turns from a supersonic flow to a subsonic flow across the shock.

memory deficit,which is often associated with aging and many psychiatric,neurological,and neurodegenerative diseases,has been a challenging issue for *** till now,all potential drug candidates have failed to produce satisfa ctory ***,in the search for a solution,we found that a treatment with the gene corresponding to the RGS14414protein in visual area V2,a brain area connected with brain circuits of the ventral stream and the medial temporal lobe,which is crucial for object recognition memory(ORm),can induce enhancement of *** this study,we demonstrated that the same treatment with RGS14414in visual area V2,which is relatively unaffected in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer s disease,produced longlasting enhancement of ORm in young animals and prevent ORm deficits in rodent models of aging and Alzheimer’s ***,we found that the prevention of memory deficits was mediated through the upregulation of neuronal arbo rization and spine density,as well as an increase in brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF).A knockdown of BDNF gene in RGS14414-treated aging rats and Alzheimer s disease model mice caused complete loss in the upregulation of neuronal structural plasticity and in the prevention of ORm *** findings suggest that BDNF-mediated neuronal structural plasticity in area V2 is crucial in the prevention of memory deficits in RGS14414-treated rodent models of aging and Alzheimer’s ***,our findings of RGS14414gene-mediated activation of neuronal circuits in visual area V2 have therapeutic relevance in the treatment of memory deficits.

Cationic hydrogel with magnetic property was synthesized via radical polymerization and its removal capacity of chromate from contaminated water was found to be 200 mg/*** Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FT-IR） study,the mechanism of chromate removal by hydrogel was found to be non-specific adsorption,mainly due to ion exchange,as evidenced by the positively charged functional group,trimethyl ammonium-N＋（CH3）3,in the *** were accordingly determined by testing di？erent oxyanion adsorption onto the *** results of the chromate adsorption experiments illustrated that the amount of chromate adsorbed was nearly equal to that of the chloride released from the hydrogel,which is part of the evidence for ion *** and multi-oxyanion adsorption experiments were also performed,and it was demonstrated that ion removal was species independent,but charge dependent,another characteristic of the ion exchange *** was found that the same Langmuir model can be applied to best fit the findings of single and multi-oxyanion adsorption,which further indicates the mechanism of chromate removal is attributed to ion *** view of the above,the background anions compete for adsorption sites with chromate,evidenced by inhibitive chromate removal in the presence of background electrolytes in the batch studies,further echoing the ion exchange mechanism.

Chromium and/or arsenate removal by Fe（Ⅱ） as a function of pH, Fe（Ⅱ） dosage and initial Cr（Ⅵ）/As（Ⅴ） ratio were examined in batch tests. The presence of arsenate reduced the removal efficiency of chromium by Fe（Ⅱ）, while the presence of chromate significantly increased the removal efficiency of arsenate by Fe（Ⅱ） at pH 6-8, In the absence of arsenate, chromium removal by Fe（Ⅱ） increased to a maximum with increasing pH from 4 to 7 and then decreased with a further increase in pH. The increment in Fe（Ⅱ） dosage resulted in an improvement in chromium removal and the improvement was more remarkable under alkaline conditions than that under acidic conditions. Chromium removal by Fe（Ⅱ） was reduced to a larger extent under neutral and alkaline conditions than that under acidic conditions due to the presence of 10 μtmol/L arsenate. The presence of 20 μmol/L arsenate slightly improved chromium removal by Fe（Ⅱ） at pH 3.9-5,8, but had detrimental effects at pH 6.7-9.8. Arsenate removal was improved significantly at pH 4-9 due to the presence of 10μmol/L chromate at Fe（Ⅱ） dosages of 20-60 μmol/L. Elevating the chromate concentration from 10 to 20μmol/L resulted in a further improvement in arsenate removal at pH 4.0-4.6 when Fe（Ⅱ） was dosed at 30-60 μmol/L.

Pollutants that exist in anionic species are issues of concern in water treatment. Compared to cationic pollutants, the removal of anionic pollutants by adsorption is more difficult because most adsorbents carry predominantly negative charges in neutral and alkaline environments. In this study, a cross-linked chitosan derivative with quaternary ammonium and magnetic properties（Qm-chitosan） was prepared and employed to remove chromium（VI） and phosphorus（V）（Cr（VI） and P（V）） from aqueous environments. The Qm-chitosan was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry（FT-IR）,thermogravimetric analysis（TGA）, energy dispersive X-ray（SEm-EDX） and zeta *** experiments show that Qm-chitosan can effectively remove Cr（VI） and P（V）, and the main mechanism was believed to be electrostatic interaction. A pseudosecond-order model was fitted to describe the kinetic processes of Cr（VI） and P（V） removal. The adsorption isotherms of both Cr（VI） and P（V） on the Qm-chitosan were well fitted by the Langmuir isotherm equation. The saturated adsorption capacity of P（V）（2.783 mmol/g） was found to be higher than that of Cr（VI）（2.323 mmol/g）, resulting from the size of the H2PO-4ions being smaller than that of the HCr O-4ions. However, the theoretical calculation and experimental results showed that Qm-chitosan had a stronger affinity for Cr（VI） than P（V）. The adsorption–desorption of the Qm-chitosan was evaluated, and high regeneration rates were demonstrated.

We performed experiments to determine the critical moment for movement initiation of a millimeter bead on a rotating rough *** corresponding critical angular velocities were measured for glass and stainless-steel ball bearings over two different rough surfaces with glued glass beads.A basic theoretical analysis was developed to explain the observed *** the expectation of a simple approach with the presence of the obstacles offered by a rough surface could be sufficient to describe the problem,we prove here that the sole con sideration of these obstacles,and even friction,are insufficient to explain the results in the range of a few-millimeter glass *** the thermodynamic work of adhesion between surfaces is significant,the adhesion forces must be considered in the force balance for particle detachment:.This effect is a determinant for describing theoretically and numerically the dynamics of millimeter particles.

In this case report we present an elderly patient who was referred to our hospital with recurrent episodes of cholangitis that persisted after placement of fi ve metal stents for a distal common bile duct(CBD) *** metal stents were endoscopically removed from the CBD by forceps after balloon dilatation of the papilla.A profoundly dilated CBD with sludge and concrements was *** ensure adequate bile drainage an enteral metal stent was inserted in the *** case shows that proximally migrated uncovered metal stents in the CBD can be safely removed endoscopically under certain *** suggest that in the case of a CBD drainage problem due to an extremely dilated CBD,placement of an enteral metal stent in the CBD could be considered,especially in patients who are unfi t for surgery.
