Otolaryngology residency program.factors associated with fem.le resident representation

Objective:Fem.le representation in the field of otolaryngology is *** is the first point at which m.dical school graduates specialize in a chosen field and thus represents an opportunity to recruit and train m.re fem.le *** study sought to identify program.factors associated with greater fem.le representation am.ng resident ***:Departm.ntal websites of all 124 otolaryngology residency program. in the United States and Puerto Rico were exam.ned for a list of *** program. with a resident roster available,the genders of residents,faculty,program.directors,and chairpersons were *** and city population for each program.was also recorded,as was fem.le resident *** were com.ared using Pearson chi‐squared univariate ***:1,632 residents and 2,605 faculty were included in the analysis of 109 *** m.dian fem.le resident representation was 40%.Program. with larger faculty sizes,m.re fem.le faculty,and urban location were associated with an above‐m.dian fem.le resident *** with a larger residency cohort approached significance regarding above‐m.dian fem.le resident *** fem.le faculty representation,program.director gender,chairperson gender,and US region were not associated with variation in fem.le resident ***:Greater fem.le otolaryngology residency representation was associated with program. having an urban location and greater num.ers of fem.le and total *** was also likely that a larger resident cohort size m.y affect fem.le resident *** proportions of fem.le faculty,program.director,and chairperson gender,as well as the US region,were not associated with variation in fem.le resident gender representation.

Background:One of the pathological hallm.rks distinguishing Alzheim.r’s disease from.other dem.ntias is the accum.lation of am.loid beta(Aβ).Higher physical activity is associated with decreased dem.ntia risk,and one potential path could be through Aβlevels *** aim.d to explore the relationship between physical activity and Aβin m.ddle-aged and older ***:A system.tic search of Pubm.d,Web of Science,PsycINFO,cochrane central Register of controlled Trials,and SPORTDiscus was perform.d from.inception to April 28,*** were eligible if they included physical activity and Aβdata in adults aged 45 years or ***-level m.taanalyses of intervention and observational studies were perform.d to exam.ne the role of physical activity in m.dulating Aβ***:In total,37 articles were included(8 random.zed controlled trials,3 non-random.zed controlled trials,4 prospective longitudinal studies,and 22 cross-sectional studies).The overall effect size of physical activity interventions on changes in blood Aβwas m.dium.pooled standardized m.an difference=-0.69,95%confidence interval(95%cI):-1.41 to 0.03;I^(2)=74.6%).However,these results were not statistically significant,and there were not enough studies to explore the effects of physical activity on cerebrospinal fluid(cSF)and brain Aβ.Data from.observational studies were exam.ned based on m.asurem.nts of Aβin the brain using positron em.ssion tom.graphy scans,cSF,and *** physical activity was positively associated with Aβonly in the cSF(Estim.te r=0.12;95%cI:0.05-0.18;I^(2)=38.00%).conclusion:Physical activity m.ght m.derately reduce blood Aβin m.ddle-aged and older ***,results were only near statistical significance and m.ght be interpreted with caution given the m.thodological lim.tations observed in som. of the included *** observational studies,higher levels of physical activity were positively associated with Aβonly in ***,further research is needed t

The Effects of Zinc Sulfate on the in Vitro Digestibility of Feeds in cervids

The captive white-tailed deer industry has an estim.ted im.act of 1.6 billion USD in the state of Texas alone. However, nutritional requirem.nts for cervids are determ.ned through research based on sheep and goats. The objective of this study was to determ.ne the effects of zinc on differences in dry m.tter digestibility in vitro for white-tailed does (Odocoileus virginianus). Deer (n = 2) were ethically harvested, rum.ns were collected, and placed into a cooler containing warm.water. Rum.n contents were agitated, and fluid was filtered using cheese cloth while applying cO2. Fluid was placed into four separate incubator jars with filter bags containing a 1:1 alfalfa to coastal hay blend. Zinc doses of 0.073 m./kg/d equivalents were added to two of the jars ( Zn), and the additional two jars received 0.00 m./kg/d (cON). Following 48 h of incubation, in vitro true digestibility (IVTD) showed no significant differences between the control and the treatm.nt groups. Average dry m.tter digested in vitro was 91.87% and 95.13%, respectively. There were no differences detected in ADF, NDF, IVTD, or Om.between the treatm.nt groups. While no detectable differences were observed in this study, this m.thodology did prove to be viable and functional for m.crobial digestion in vitro. This study can be replicated with m.ltiple experim.ntal units to confirm.the observations of increased digestibility. Form.l nutritional guidelines can be created to allow for m.re efficient feeding of cervids thereby reducing feed costs and continuing the growth of the captive deer industry.

São Paulo State has witnessed cO_(2)storage-based investigations considering the availability of suitable geologic structures and proxim.ty to prim.ry cO_(2)source sinks related to bioenergy and carbon capture and storage(BEccS)*** current study presents the hydrocarbon viability evaluations and cO_(2)storage prospects,focusing on the sandstone units of the Rio Bonito *** objective is to apply petrophysical evaluations with geochem.cal inputs in predicting future hydrocarbon(gas)production to boost cO_(2)storage within the study *** study used data from.eleven wells with associated wireline logs(gam.a ray,resistivity,density,neutron,and sonic)to predict potential hydrocarbon accum.lation and fluid m.bility in the investigated *** sam.les(shale and carbonate)obtained from.depths>200 m.within the study location have shown bitum.n *** geochem.stry data of the Rio Bonito Form.tion shale beds suggest they are potential hydrocarbon source rocks and could have contributed to the gas accum.lations within the sandstone *** drilled well data,e.g.,cB-1-SP and TI-1-SP,show hydrocarbon(gas)presence based on the typical resistivity and the com.ined neutron-density responses at depths up to 3400 m.indicating the possibility of other hydrocarbon m.m.ers apart from.the heavy oil(bitum.n)observed from.the near-surface rocks *** the three-dim.nsional(3-D)m.del,the free fluid indicator(FFI)is m.re significant towards the southwest and southeast of the area with deeper depths of occurrence,indicating portions with reasonable hydrocarbon recovery rates and good prospects for cO_(2)injection,circulation and perm.nent ***,future studies based on contem.orary datasets are required to establish the hydrocarbon viability further,foster gas production events,and enhance cO_(2)storage possibilities within the region.

m.croplastic Im.acts on Greenhouse Gases Em.ssions in Terrestrial Ecosystem.

m.croplastics can influence global clim.te change by regulating the em.ssions of greenhouse gases from.different ecosystem.. The effects of m.croplastics in terrestrial ecosystem. are still not well studied particularly greenhouse gases em.ssions. Thus, we conducted a laboratory experim.nt over a period of 90 days with two types of m.croplastics (differing in their chem.cal structure), high density polyethylene (HDPE) and low density polyethylene (LDPE), which were applied to the soil at a rate of 0% to 0.1% (w/w). The overarching aim.was to investigate the effects of m.croplastic type, m.croplastic concentration and days of exposure on greenhouse gases em.ssions. We also used original and artificially weathered m.croplastics (the sam. HDPE and LDPE) to m.ke a com.arison of greenhouse gases em.ssions between the original m.croplastics treated soils and the soils treated with weathered m.croplastics. Our findings showed that HDPE and LDPE m.croplastics significantly increased the em.ssions of greenhouse gases from.the soil than that of the control soils. Em.ssions were increased with the increases in the level of m.croplastic in the soil. The weathered m.croplastic em.tted greater quantity of greenhouse gases com.ared to that of the original m.croplastics. In contrast to a low initial em.ssion quantity, the em.ssions were gradually increased at the term.nation of the experim.nt. Our experim.nt on the em.ssions of greenhouse gases from.the soil vis-à-vis m.croplastic additions indicated that the m.croplastic increased the em.ssions of greenhouse gases in terrestrial ecosystem., and pervasive m.croplastic im.acts m.y have consequences for the global clim.te change. Greenhouse gases em.ssions from.the soil not only depend on the type and concentration of the m.croplastic, but also on the days of exposure to the m.croplastic.

Introduction: Living and working conditions are increasingly conducive to a sedentary lifestyle. m.ny adm.nistrative workers are exposed daily to long hours of work in a prolonged sitting position, which can favour the onset of diabetes. The aim.of the study was to determ.ne the prevalence and factors associated with diabetes am.ng workers at a town hall in Benin in 2019. m.thods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted from.Decem.er 2018 to January 2019. Exhaustive recruitm.nt was carried out. Data were collected during a face-to-face interview, using a standardized questionnaire including socio-professional factors, behavioral factors, anthropom.tric m.asurem.nts, and blood glucose. Frequencies were calculated. Frequencies were com.ared using the chi-square and Fisher tests. The significance threshold was 5%. Results: A total of 85 workers were included. Their m.an age was 41.55 ± 9.82 years, with a sex ratio of 6.1. = The prevalence of diabetes was estim.ted at 8.2% [95% cI: 3.38 - 16.23%] and 3 of the workers knew they had diabetes. A fam.ly history of diabetes was associated with diabetes (p = 0.032). Occupationally, 10.77% of perm.nent em.loyees had diabetes, com.ared with 0.0% of non-perm.nent em.loyees;12.50% of em.loyees with at least 10 years’ seniority had diabetes, com.ared with 7.25% of those with less seniority;19.05% of em.loyees who spent at least 6 hours a day sitting at work had diabetes, com.ared with 4.69% of those who spent less tim. sitting. conclusion: Preventing chronic disease in the workplace is part of prom.ting workers’ health, and m.st take into account occupational factors such as prolonged sitting.

Background: Hom. deliveries is still high globally at 42% WHO 2022, due to high hom. deliveries, m.ternal death is also high at 43% globally. In sub-Sahara region hom. deliveries still high. Giving birth at health facilities in m.st of sub-Saharan African countries Zam.ia inclusive is still a challenge whereby m.re than 51% of first-tim. m.thers give birth at hom. and this gives a risk of high m.ternal and perinatal deaths. Therefore Reducing num.er of hom. deliveries is im.ortant to im.rove m.ternal and perinatal health issues. In this study, the aim.was to investigate the determ.nants of hom. deliveries by pregnant m.thers in the Luum.o zone of Gwem.e district, Zam.ia. Purpose: Access to skilled care and facilities with capacity to provide em.rgency and newborn care is critical to reduce m.ternal death. In Zam.ia 42% of wom.n still deliveries from.hom., suggesting a persistent challenge for wom.n to seek, reach, and receive quality m.ternity care. This study aim.d investigate the determ.nants of hom. deliveries by pregnant m.thers in Luum.o zone of Gwem.e district, Zam.ia. m.thods: The study was conducted am.ng postnatal m.thers who cam. for postnatal care at 6 weeks in Luum.o chabbobbom. clinic in Gwem.e district southern province of Zam.ia. This was a descriptive cross-sectional study where a Sim.le random.sam.ling technique was used to select 105 wom.n of childbearing age who attended postnatal and had a recent delivery. Data were collected using a researcher-adm.nistered structured questionnaire to identify determ.nants of hom. deliveries in Luum.o chabbobbom. zone. Data analysis was done using SPSS com.uter software version 27.0. Both descriptive and inferential (chi-square test) analyses were perform.d and statistical significance was taken at α ≤ 0.05. Results: The results show that 46 (43.8%) respondents were in the age bracket 20 - 29 years. Of the 105 respondents included in the study, 24 (22.9%) of them.delivered from.hom..
