In Asia, the ric. c.op sustains millions of people. However, growing demand for this c.op needs to be met while simultaneously reduc.ng its water c.nsumption to c.pe with the effec.s of c.imate c.ange. Lowland c.opping systems are the most c.mmon and produc.ive but have partic.larly high water requir.ments. High-yielding ric. genotypes adapted to drier envir.nments(suc. as rainfed or aerobic.ric. ec.systems) are needed to inc.ease the water use effic.enc. of c.opping. Identifying these genotypes requir.s fast and more ac.urate selec.ion methods. It is hypothesized that applying a new quantitative selec.ion method(the sc.re index selec.ion method), c.n usefully c.mpare ric. yield responses over different years and stress intensities to selec. genotypes more rapidly and effic.ently. Applying the sc.re index to previously published ric. yield data for 39 genotypes grown in no-stress and two stress envir.nments, identified three genotypes(ARB 8, ir.5419-04 and ARB 7) with higher and stable yield under moderate to severe stress c.nditions. These genotypes are postulated to be better adapted to stress envir.nment suc. as upland and aerobic.envir.nments. Importantly, the sc.re index selec.ion method offers improved prec.sion than the c.nventional breeding selec.ion method in identifying genotypes that are well-suited to a range of stress levels within the target envir.nment.

There are five vital signs that healthc.re providers assess: temperature, pulse, respir.tion, blood pressure, and pain. Normal levels for the five vital signs are published by the Americ.n Heart Assoc.ation, and other spec.alty organizations, however, the sixth vital sign (resilienc.) whic. adopts the measure of immune resilienc. is suggested in this paper. Resilienc. is the ability of the immune system to respond to attac.s and defend effec.ively against infec.ions and inflammatory stressors, and psyc.ologic.l resilienc. is the c.pac.ty to resist, adapt, rec.ver, thrive, and grow from a c.allenge or a stressor. Individuals with better optimal immune resilienc. had better health outc.mes than those with minimal immune resilienc.. The purpose of this paper is to c.nc.ptualize, c.ntextualize, and operationalize all six vital signs. We suggest measuring resilienc. subj.c.ively and obj.c.ively. Subj.c.ively, use a 5-item guided interview revised from the c.nnor-Davidson Resilienc. Sc.le (c.Rc., a sc.le of 10 items. The revised c.Rc.sc.le is a 5-item sc.le. The sc.le is rated on a 5-point Likert sc.le from 0 (not true) to 4 (true all the time). The total sc.re ranges from 0 to 20, with higher total sc.res indic.ting greater resilienc.. The sc.le demonstrated good c.nstruc. validity and internal c.nsistenc. (α = 0.85) during the development of the sc.le. The c.-RISc.had a good c.onbac.’s alpha level of 0.85. The Revised c.-RISc.c.n be c.mpleted in 2 - 4 minutes. To measure resilienc. obj.c.ively, we suggest using Immune Resilienc. (ir. levels, the level of resilienc. to preserve and/or rapidly restore immune resilienc. func.ions that promote disease resistanc. and c.ntrol inflammation and other inflammatory stress. ir.levels are gauged with two peripheral blood metric. that quantify the balanc. between c.8 and c.4 T-c.ll levels and gene expression signatures trac.ing longevity-assoc.ated immunoc.mpetenc. and mortality- or entropy-assoc.ated inflammation. ir.deregulation i

The adsorption of NO on /ZSM-5 zeolites with different c.ntents was studied by means of FTir.spec.rosc.py. The dominant NO spec.es adsorbed on /ZSM-5 was found to be in a dinitrosyl form, as demonstrated by the ir.bands at 1 813 and 1 896 c. -1. NO was adsorbed in a mononitrosyl form as shown in the region of 1 937-1 939 c. -1 as a minor spec.es. Samples /ZSM-5 showed a new band near 1 858 c. -1(w) attributable to the spec.es of c._3O_4-NO. It was found that zeolite /ZSM-5 exhibits superior performanc. c.arac.eristic. for Sc. of NO molec.les, and is promising as a useful c.talyst. The typic.l c.talyst /ZSM-5 for Sc. resulted from the c.llaboration of the metal alkalinity and the ionic.radius of the metal(suc. as Mg or Sr).

We have observed reduc.ion of the runaway elec.ron sync.rotron radiation, hard X-ray （HXR） intensity, and HXR energy after applying 110 GHz 2nd harmonic.elec.ron c.c.otron resonant heating （Ec.H） during runaway elec.ron （RE） disc.arges at low density with startup runaway elec.rons. However, we did not see a signific.nt reduc.ion of X-rays from 170 GHz 2nd harmonic.Ec.H at a higher field. A rec.ntly installed ir.TV c.mera was used to observe the forward c.ne of sync.rotron radiation from high energy REs in KSTAR. We have observed c.anges to the sync.rotron images and reduc.ion of the HXR by applic.tion of resonant magnetic.perturbations （RMP） from in-vessel c.ntrol c.ils （IVc.） installed inside KSTAR in the n----1 c.nfiguration.

With rec.nt advanc.s in theory and observations, dir.c. c.nnec.ions emerge between the progenitors of Type Ia Supernovae （SNe Ia） and the observed light c.rves and spec.ra. A dir.c. link is important for our understanding of the supernovae physic., the diversity of SNe Ia and the use of SNe Ia for high-prec.sion c.smology bec.use the details of the explosion depends sensitively on the initial c.nditions and the explosion sc.nario（s） realized in nature. Do SNe Ia originate from SD- or DD systems, and do they lead to Mc. mass explosions or dynamic.l mergers？ Does the statistic.l distribtion of SNe Ia depend on their.envir.nment whic. c.n be expec.ed to c.ange with redshift？ In this c.ntribution, we will exam from the theoretic.l point of view the tell-tails for this c.nnec.ion, their.c.nsistenc. with the observations, and future dir.c.ions. In a fir.t sec.ion, we present the physic. of the explosion, light c.rves and spec.ral formation in a nutshell to help understanding the c.nnec.ion. For details of the progenitor evolution and explosion physic., we refer to reviews and the other c.ntributions in this issue. Eac. of the topic.l sec.ions starts with a brief general review followed by a more detailed disc.ssion of spec.fic.results. Bec.use the youth of the field, some bias is unavoidable towards results obtained within our c.llaborations （and FSU）. The imprint of the metallic.ty, progenitor stars and properties suc. as the c.ntral density of the exploding WD are presented. ir.spec.rosc.py, polarimetry and imaging of SNR remnants are disc.ssed as a tool to test for the WD properties, magnetic.fields and asymmetries. We disc.ss different c.asses of Type Ia supernovae, and their.envir.nment. Possible c.rrelations between the spec.rosc.pic.and light c.rve properties of SN Ia are disc.ssed. Finally, the overall emerging pic.ure and future developments are disc.ssed.

Studies on the behavior of molec.lar transport properties suc. as thermal c.nduc.ivity, gas permeability, volume and surfac. resistivity have been c.rried out for the naturally woven c.c.nut sheath （c.） fiber reinforc.d c.mposites with the addition of nanoc.ay and c.emic.l treatment of fiber. The c.mpression molding tec.nique was used to fabric.te the c.c.nut sheath/c.ay reinforc.d hybrid c.mposites. The morphologic.l studies suc. as X-ray diffrac.ogram （XRD）, transmission elec.ron mic.osc.py （TEM） and sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.py （SEM） have been c.rried out for polyester nanoc.mposites and c.c.nut sheath fiber. The dec.eased gas permeability, thermal c.nduc.ivity and volume and surfac. resistivity have been observed with inc.easing the weight perc.ntage of nanoc.ay in polyester matrix. In c.emic.l modific.tions, the alkali and silane treated c.c.nut sheath reinforc.d c.mposites have shown great influenc. on the transport properties due to the inc.easing hydrophilic.nature by the topographic.l c.anges at the fiber surfac.. Dielec.ric.strength has also been reported in this paper for all types of c.mposites. Infra-red （ir. spec.ra have also been taken to study the physic.l and c.emic.l struc.ural c.anges of treated c.c.nut sheath.

PdAuir.c.Sb2O5·SnO2elec.roc.talysts with Pd∶Au∶ir.molar ratios of 90∶5∶5,70∶20∶10 and 50∶45∶5 were prepared by borohydride reduc.ion *** elec.roc.talysts were c.arac.erized by EDX,X-ray diffrac.ion,transmission elec.ron mic.osc.py and the c.talytic.ac.ivity toward formic.ac.d elec.ro-oxidation in ac.d medium investigated by c.c.ic.voltammetry(c.),c.roamperometry(c.)and tests on dir.c. formic.ac.d fuel c.ll(DFAFc.at 100℃.X-ray diffrac.ograms of PdAuir.c.Sb2O5·SnO2elec.roc.talysts showed the presenc. of Pd fc. phase,Pd-Au fc. alloys,c.rbon and ATO phases,while ir.phases were not *** mic.ographs and histograms indic.ted that the nanopartic.es were not well dispersed on the support and some *** c.c.ic.voltammetry and c.roamperometry studies showed that PdAuir.c.Sb2O5·SnO2(50∶45∶5)had superior performanc. toward formic.ac.d elec.ro-oxidation at 25℃c.mpared to PdAuir.c.Sb2O5·SnO2(70∶20∶10),PdAuir.c.Sb2O5·SnO2(90∶5∶5)and Pd/c.Sb2O5·*** experiments in a single DFAFc.also showed that all PdAuir.c.Sb2O5·SnO2elec.roc.talysts exhibited higher performanc. for formic.ac.d oxidation in c.mparison with Pd/c.Sb2O5·SnO2elec.roc.talysts,however PdAuir.c.Sb2O5·SnO2(90∶5∶5)had superior *** results indic.ted that the addition of Au and ir.to Pd favor the elec.ro-oxidation of formic.ac.d,whic. c.uld be attributed to the bifunc.ional mec.anism(the presenc. of ATO,Au and ir.oxides spec.es)assoc.ated to the elec.ronic.effec.(Pd-Au fc. alloys).

A new elec.rophilic.polymer, 2,4-dinitrophenyl ether of polyvinyl alc.hol (PVA-DNP), having a degree of substitution of 0.5 was prepared from polyvinyl alc.hol (PVA) and 1-fluro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (DNFB). The PVA-DNP polymer was c.arac.erized by NMR, ir. and UV-visible spec.rosc.py. The reac.ion of PVA-DNP with sodium methoxide was followed by NMR and UV-visible spec.rosc.py. Evidenc. of polymer bound spir.c.c.ic.SIGMA c.mplex, c.1 and c.3 polymer bound DNP-methoxy SIGMA c.mplexes and the formation and c.1 methoxy c.mplex of 2,4-dinitroanisole was observed.
