Comparative quantitative analysis of fruit oil from Hippophae rhamnoides(seabuckthorn) by qNMR, FTIR and GC–MS

Objective: To develop a qNMR method for quantitative analysis of triacylglycerols in fruit oil of Hippophae rhamnoides(seabuckthorn, SBT) and analyze commercial samples of SBT oils using GC–MS and ***: SBT fruit oil(IPHRFH) was extracted with hexane and the triglyceride(TAG) was isolated by vacuum liquid chromatography. Six different branded SBT oils purchased from e-commerce suppliers(Amazon) and in-house prepared SBT oil was analyzed by qNMR and fatty acyl composition of TAGs determined by using NMR. In-house oil was also analysed by GC–MS and FTIR ***: The qNMR results showed that the oil contained 80.3% of triacylglycerol(TAG). The SBT oil TAGs comprised of linolenate 6.6%, palmitoleate/oleate 65.4%, and total saturated fatty acyl chain including palmitate 28% as determined by qNMR. GC–MS analysis revealed that the major acyl functionalities present in the TAG were palmitoleic acid 36.5%, oleic acid 12.9%, palmitic acid 21.2%, and linoleic acid 18%. Of the six commercial samples analyzed, samples from only one supplier(SW) were fruit oil;All others were the seed oils or mix of fruit oil and seed oil. The labels for samples except for the SW did not indicate whether it was fruit oil or seed ***: The results suggest that SBT oil should be analyzed by combination of GC–MS, FTIR and qNMR for factual content of free fatty acid or TAGs, which are chemically different in nature and affect the quality of oil. GC–MS showed the content of omega free fatty acids after hydrolysis, while qNMR and FTIR showed the content of TAGs. The major acyl functionalities found in SBT fruit oil TAGs are palmitoleate/palmitate/oleate, while linoleate and linonelate make up a minor fraction. Furthermore,analysis of commercial samples showed discrepancies between label claims and actual content.

A Rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna model is proposed using air as a substrate to study the characteristics of designed antenna. The dimensions of designed antenna are 17 mm × 16.66 mm with substrate at frequency 3.525 GHz. In this paper, the simulation is performed by using software Computer Simulation Technology (CST) Microwave studio based on finite difference time domain technique. The characterization of the designed antenna was analyzed in terms of return loss, bandwidth, directivity, gain, radiation pattern, VSWR.

A Case of Esophageal Perforation Presenting as Cavitary Pneumonia: Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenges

Esophageal perforation, a rare condition, can arise from iatrogenic, traumatic, or spontaneous origins. Even when therapy is initiated within the first 24 hours, it is associated with a mortality rate of up to 25%. Due to the varied initial presentation, treatment may be delayed, leading to poorer outcomes. Here, we present a unique case of a 27-year-old schizophrenic patient who initially presented with acute respiratory failure and septic shock and was ultimately diagnosed with cavitary pneumonia secondary to esophageal perforation.

Dust-Holding Capacity and Bio-Chemical Changes of Plant Species Growing in an Around Opencast Mining Area of Bundelkhand Region of Uttar Pradesh, India

The present study has been carried out on a total of 50 available plant species to assess their dust-capturing capacity and biochemical performances in and around open cast granite mine areas of Jhansi district and Bundelkhand University campus treated as control site. Plant species existing under a polluted environment for a long time may be considered as potentially resistant species and recommended for green belt design in mining areas, especially to cope with dust pollution. Results showed the pollution level, especially of mining-originated dust particles holding capacity of leaves and effects of different biochemical parameters (Total Chlorophyll, Protein and Carotenoid) of existing plant species both from mining areas as well as from Bundelkhand University campus. Based on their performances, Tectona grandis L., Ficus hispida L., Calotropis procera Aiton., Butea monosperma Lam. and Ficus benghalensis L., etc. are highly tolerant species while Ficus infectoria L., Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam., Ipomoea purpurea L., Allianthus excelsa Roxb. and Bauhinia variegata L. are intermediate tolerant species. T. grandis had shown the highest dust-holding capacity (2.566 ± 0.0004 mg/cm2) whereas Albizia procera (0.018 ± 0.0002 mg/cm2) was found to be the lowest dust-holding capacity. Our findings also showed that the T. grandis and F. hispida have significant dust deposition with minimal effect of dust on their leaf chlorophyll (17.447 ± 0.019 mg/g and 14.703 ± 0.201 mg/g), protein (0.699 ± 0.001 mg/g and 0.604 ± 0.002 mg/g) and carotenoid (0.372 ± 0.003 mg/g and 0.354 ± 0.003 mg/g) content respectively among all selected plant species. Therefore, in the present investigation, plant species with high tolerance to high dust-holding capacity on their leaf surfaces are preferable for green corridors as open cast granite mines and their adjacent areas.

Fabrication of core-shell PLGA/PLA-pNIPAM nanocomposites for improved entrapment and release kinetics of antihypertensive drugs

Polylactic acid (PLA)and poly(lactic-co-glycolic)acid (PLGA)are two commonly applied biodegrad- able polymers for the preparation of nanocomposites used in drug-delivery ***,these polymers lack desirable attributes such as resistance to aggregation during long-term storage due to *** improve their efficacy,in this work,PLA and PLGA were encapsulated within a shell of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(pNIPAM)using a single emulsion technique followed by an aqueous free radical precipitation polymerisation process,yielding core-shell PLA/PLGA-pNIPAM nanocomposites. The nanocomposites were cbaracterised using zeta potential,dynamic light scattering,and transmission electron microscopy analyses and were further applied as a delivery system for ramipril,an antihypertensive *** drug-loaded PLGA-pNIPAM core-shell nanoparticles exhibited a higher drug content (91%)and entrapment efficiency (78%)than their PLA *** in vitro release study of the formulations at pH 7.3in phosphate-buffered saline indicated that PLGA was more efficient than PLA with a sustained release of 86% of ramipril from the polymer matrix within ***,to determine the release kinetics,the data were fitted to Korsmeyer-Peppas and Higuchi models;the release of ramipril from the polymer matrix followed zero-order rate kinetics and an anomalous (non-Fickian)diffusion mechanism.

Joint routing and rate allocation for multiple video streams in ad-hoc wireless networks

The support for multiple video streams in an ad-hoc wireless network requires appropriate routing and rate allocation measures ascertaining the set of links for transmitting each stream and the encoding rate of the video to be delivered over the chosen links. The routing and rate allocation procedures impact the sustained quality of each video stream measured as the mean squared error (MSE) distortion at the receiver, and the overall network congestion in terms of queuing delay per link. We study the trade-off between these two competing objectives in a convex optimization formulation, and discuss both centralized and dis- tributed solutions for joint routing and rate allocation for multiple streams. For each stream, the optimal allocated rate strikes a balance between the selfish motive of minimizing video distortion and the global good of minimizing network congestions, while the routes are chosen over the least-congested links in the network. In addition to detailed analysis, network simulation results using ns-2 are presented for studying the optimal choice of parameters and to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed measures.

SiO2-coated pure anatase TiO2 catalysts for enhanced photo-oxidation of naphthalene and anthracene

Our current efforts reveal the preparation of SiO2@TiO2 nanocomposites having different thicknesses of silica shell and the relationship to photocatalytic activity （PCA） for the photo-oxidation of naph-thalene and anthracene. The presence of SiO2 coating over TiO2 surface was demonstrated by FT-IR analysis, with peaks corresponding to Si-O-Si （1081 cm 1） and Si-O-Ti （950 cm-1） bonds observed. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy analysis confirmed the presence of SiO2 in the as- prepared nanocomposites and the amount of Si, Ti, and O was determined by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis. Increasing the Si02 shell thickness increases the surface area of the nanocompos- ites （69-235 m2/g）, which enhances naphthalene/anthracene adsorption. However, the observed PCA trend presents an inverse correlation to the adsorption studies, where the as-prepared samples possess- ing the highest surface areas exhibited the least PCA, while catalysts having lower surface areas （among silica coated samples） displayed the highest PCA in the degradation of naphthalene and anthracene to CO2. Despite complete degradation of naphthalene and anthracene, incomplete mineralization occurred, ascribed to the formation of various intermediates, identified by GC-MS analysis.
