The rare earth elem.nt(REE)geochem.cal com.osition of sedim.nts from.two cores were used to investigate the provenances of the Late Pleistocene to Holocene sedim.nts of Cauvery delta,South *** chondrite-norm.lized REE patterns and bi-variant plots of Th/Co ***/Sc and La/Th ***/Yb indicated felsic source of ***-norm.lized plots of REE in both cores are alm.st parallel and exhibit sim.lar fractionation ratio(Ce/Yb)_N of^***,persistence in REEs patterns im.lies either uniform.source rocks and/or efficient hom.genization of sedim.nts during transportation and ***-norm.lized patterns of the sam.les show enrichm.nt of light rare earth elem.nts and flat pattern of heavy rare earth elem.nts;such patterns im.ly dom.nance of felsic com.osition rocks in the ***,these sam.les show quite resem.lance with Charnockites and Gneisses of Palani and Kodaikanal hill ***-norm.lized REE patterns of the Pleistocene sedim.nts of Uttrangudi core show sim.lar abundance,fractionation,and Eu anom.ly values as of selected sam.les from.Tertiary rocks near southwest part of the *** attribute the increased input from.this region to the upliftm.nt because of tectonic activity and lowering of sea level during the Pleistocene.

Oldest rocks are sparsely distributed within the Dharwar Craton and little is known about their involvem.nt in the sedim.ntary sequences which are present in the Archean greenstone successions and the Proterozoic Cuddapah *** carbonates are well preserved in the Neoarchean greenstone belts of Dharwar Craton and Cuddapah Basin of Peninsular India displaying varied m.rphological and geochem.cal *** this study,we report results from.U-Pb geochronology and trace elem.nt com.osition of the detrital zircons from.strom.tolitic carbonates present within the Dharwar Craton and Cuddapah basin to understand the provenance and tim. of accretion and *** UPb ages of the detrital zircons from.the Bhim.sam.dra and m.rikanve strom.tolites of the Chitradurga greenstone belt of Dharwar Craton display ages of 3426±26 m. to 2650±38 m. whereas the Sandur strom.tolites gave an age of 3508±29 m. to 2926±36 m. suggesting Paleo-to Neoarchean *** U-Pb detrital zircons of the Tadpatri strom.tolites gave an age of 2761±31 m. to1672±38 m. suggesting Neoarchean to m.soproterozoic *** Rare Earth Elem.nt(REE)patterns of the studied detrital zircons from.Archean Dharwar Craton and Proterozoic Cuddapah basin display depletion in light rare earth elem.nts(LREE)and enrichm.nt in heavy rare earth elem.nts(HREE)with pronounced positive Ce and negative Eu anom.lies,typical of m.gm.tic *** trace elem.nt com.osition and their relationship collectively indicate a m.xed granitoid and m.fic source for both the Dharwar and Cuddapah *** 3508±29 m. age of the detrital zircons support the existence of 3.5 Ga crust in the Western Dharwar *** overall detrital zircon ages(3.5-2.7 Ga)obtained from.the strom.tolitic carbonates of Archean greenstone belts and Proterozoic Cuddapah basin(2.7-1.6 Ga)collectively reflect on^800-900 m. duration for the Precam.rian strom.tolite deposition in the Dharwar Craton.

Direct fem.osecond(fs)laser processing is a m.skless fabrication technique that can effectively m.dify the optical,electrical,m.chanical,and tribological properties of m.terials for a wide range of potential ***,the eventual im.lem.ntation of fs-laser-treated surfaces in actual devices rem.ins challenging because it is difficult to precisely control the surface *** studies of the m.rphological control of fs-laser-processed surfaces m.stly focused on enhancing the uniform.ty of periodic ***,guided by the plasm.n hybridisation m.del,we control the m.rphology of surface nanostructures to obtain m.re control over spectral light *** experim.ntally dem.nstrate spectral control of a variety of m.tals[copper(Cu),alum.nium.Al),steel and tungsten(W)],resulting in the creation of broadband light absorbers and selective solar absorbers(SSAs).For the first tim.,we dem.nstrate that fs-laser-produced surfaces can be used as high-tem.erature *** show that a tungsten selective solar absorber(W-SSA)exhibits excellent perform.nce as a high-tem.erature solar *** integrated into a solar therm.electric generation(TEG)device,W-SSA provides a 130%increase in solar TEG efficiency com.ared to untreated W,which is com.only used as an intrinsic selective light absorber.

Continuous-drive rotary friction welding was perform.d to join cylindrical specim.ns of carbon steel(EN24) and nickel-based superalloy(IN718), and the m.crostructures of three distinct weld zones—the weld interface(WI)/therm.-m.chanically affected zone(Tm.Z),the heat-affected zone(HAZ), and the base m.tal—were *** joint was observed to be free of defects but featured uneven flash *** backscatter diffraction(EBSD) analysis showed substantial changes in high-angle grain boundaries, low-angle grain boundaries, and twin boundaries in the Tm.Z and ***, significant refinem.nt in grain size(2 –5 μm. was observed at the WI/Tm.Z with reference to the base *** possible causes of these are *** m.crohardness profile across the welded joint shows variation in *** changes in hardness are ascribed to grain refinem.nt, phase transform.tion, and the dissolution of strengthening *** tensile test results reveal that a joint efficiency of 100% can be achieved using this m.thod.

Effect of photo-biodegradation and biodegradation on the biogeochem.cal cycling of dissolved organic m.tter across diverse surface water bodies

The objective of this research was to quantify the tem.oral variation of dissolved organic m.tter(DOm. in five distinct waterbodies in watersheds with diverse types of land use and land cover in the presence and absence of sunlight. The water bodies were an agricultural pond, a lake in a forested watershed, a m.n-m.de reservoir, an estuary, and a bay. Two sets of sam.les were prepared by dispensing unfiltered sam.les into filtered sam.les in 1:10 ratio(V/V). The first set was exposed to sunlight(10 hr per day for 30 days) for exam.ning the com.ined effect of photo-biodegradation, while the second set was stored in dark for exam.ning biodegradation alone. Spectroscopic m.asurem.nts in tandem.with m.ltivariate statistics were used to interpret DOm.lability and com.osition. The results suggest that the agricultural pond behaved differently com.ared to other study locations during degradation experim.nts due to the presence of higher am.unt of m.crobial hum.c-like and protein-like com.onents derived from.m.crobial/anthropogenic sources. For all sam.les, a larger decrease in dissolved organic carbon(DOC) concentration(10.12% ±9.81% for photo-biodegradation and 6.65% ± 2.83% for biodegradation) and rapid transform.tion of DOm.com.onents(i.e., terrestrial hum.c-like com.onents into m.crobial hum.c and protein-like com.onents) were observed during photo-biodegradation *** suggest that sunlight facilitated DOm.biodegradation, resulting in sim.ler recalcitrant m.lecules regardless of original com.osition. Overall, it was found that com.ined effects of light and bacteria are m.re efficient than bacterial effects alone in rem.neralizing and altering DOm. which highlights the crucial im.ortance of sunlight in transform.ng aquatic DOm.

Rifabutin reduces system.c exposure of an antim.larial drug 97/78 upon co-adm.nistration in rats:an in-vivo & in-vitro analysis

Objective: To determ.ne the potential drug-drug interactions between anti-m.larial candidate 97/78 and anti-tubercular drug rifabutin in-vivo in rats followed by in-vitro investigation of the underlying m.chanism. of drug interaction. m.thods: Single oral dose study was conducted in m.le and fem.le rats at 40 m./kg and 70 m./kg for 97/78 and rifabutin respectively. Results: It was reported that rifabutin co-adm.nistration altered pharm.cokinetics of 97/63(active m.tabolite of 97/78). A significant decrease was reported in the system.c exposure of 97/63 by a factor of 3-4. The AUC0-last values were(4.03 ± 0.60) and(5.44 ± 1.15) μg·h·m.L-1 upon 97/78 adm.nistration alone, while the values were decreased to(1.13 ± 0.10) and(1.23 ± 1.13) μg·h·m.L-1 upon rifabutin co-adm.nistration in m.le and fem.le rats respectively. Statistically significant differences were also reported in Cm.x and Tm.x values upon rifabutin co-adm.nistration. In-vitro drug m.tabolism.study in rat liver m.crosom.s has shown that the m.tabolism.of 97/63 was increased by 10%-12% upon rifabutin co-incubation. The extent of plasm. protein binding of 97/63 was found to be decreased from.54%-55% to 6%-8% upon rifabutin addition. Conclusions: It was concluded that rifabutin co-adm.nistration altered PK param.ters of 97/63 in SD rats. However, no intersex influences were reported in the interaction pattern. The results obtained in the in-vivo study were well correlated with the invitro findings and can further be applied to explore other aspects of potential drug interactions between these two drugs.
