Human uterine leiomyosarcoma (LMS) develops more often in the muscle tissue layer of the uterine body than in the uterine cervix. The development of gynecologic tumors is often correlated with female hormone secretion;however, the development of uterine LMS is not substantially correlated with hormonal conditions, and the risk factors are not yet known. Importantly, a diagnostic-biomarker, which distinguishes malignant uterine LMS from benign tumor leiomyoma (LMA), is yet to be established. Accordingly, it is necessary to analyze risk factors associated with uterine LMS, to establish a clinical treatment method. Protea some β-ring subunit LMP2/β1i-deficient mice spontaneously develop uterine LMS, with a disease prevalence of ~40% by 14 months of age. We found LMP2/β1i expression to be absent in human uterine LMS, but present in human LMA. Therefore, defective-LMP2/β1i expression may be one of the risk factors for human uterine LMS. LMP2/β1i is a potential diagnostic-biomarker under the combination of candidate molecules, for instance cyclin B1, cyclin E and calponin h1 and ki-67/MIB1 counts for uterine mesenchymal tumors, especially human uterine LMS, and may be a targeted-molecule for a new therapeutic approach.

XPS was used to analyse the GaAs(100) substrate before and after concentrated HO treatment. The untreated RTO GaAs(100) surface has a 0.17nm thick oxide overlayer on it. HC1 treatment canremove this oxide layer and form a layer of Cl-contaimng species——GaClx. The 355 nm and 193 nm laserwas tried to study the 'laser induced desorption of GaCl,. XPS was also used to monitor the change of Cl quantity by laser irradiation. The results show that the 355 nm laser induces a thermal desorption of GaClx. By the behavior of the thermal desorption, we conclude that the GaClx on the HC1 treated GaAs(100) surface may be GaCl. The 193 nm laser can dissociate GaCl and induce a photo dissociation desorption of Cl.

Plants are regularly exposed to myriads of stress factors that cause tremendous damage to their genetic make-up. To ensure genome stability and survival over several generations under harsher environmental conditions, plants have evolved a unique mechanism for dealing with DNA damage known as the DNA damage response pathway (DDR). It has been proposed that there may exist a relationship between the DNA damage response pathway and abiotic stress response in plants. To further investigate this relationship, we knocked down the soybean suppressor of gamma response 1 gene (GmSOG1), a master regulatory gene of the DDR, in soybean plants and subjected the generated transgenic plants to drought stress analysis. Gene expression analysis of the GmSOG1 gene in drought stressed soybean tissues revealed high levels of expression in buds and young leaves. The root lengths and root fresh weights of transgenic soybean plants grown on Murashige and Skoog media supplemented with Gamborg B5 vitamins (MSB5 media) containing 200 mM mannitol for 10 days were significantly lesser than those of drought stressed wild-type plants. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) induced drought stress assay in vivo resulted in significant damage in transgenic plants compared with wild-type plants. Yam mosaic virus (YMV), a Potyvirus, is a highly destructive pathogen of yam accounting for yield losses up to 40%. Apart from causing significant reduction in tuber size and quality, it restricts international exchange of germplasms. It thus becomes crucial to get resistant or at least virus-free planting materials for farmers. This study was aimed at inducing resistance to YMV in tobacco by RNA silencing. An RNAi construct containing 161 bp fragment of YMV-coat protein (CP) gene was developed and used to produce transgenic tobacco lines expressing YMV-coat protein (CP) derived double stranded RNA (dsRNA) via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Of the eight T1 transgenic lines inoculated with YMV, six (L1, L2, L3, L5, L7 and L8) showed immunity to YMV as no symptoms were detected, whereas two (L4 and L10) exhibited high resistance with mild symptoms limited to inoculation portions. No virus could be detected in uninoculated new leaves of the transgenic lines after RT-PCR and qPCR analyses of YMV-coat protein (CP). The presence of small interfering RNAs in transgenic lines after virus challenge indicates that the resistance was acquired through RNA silencing.

The genus Macridiscus Dall,1902(Bivalvia:Veneridae)contains a few species which are important elements from warm temperate to tropical fauna of the Western *** firstly proposed by Dall(1902,Proceedings of the United States National Museum 26:335-412), Macridiscus was widely accepted as a subgenus of the genus Gomphina until 2006,Mikkelsen et al.(Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society 148:439-521.)suggested Macridiscus should be separated from genus Gomphina and elevated to an independent genus based on morphology and molecular *** taxonomy of the genus Macridiscus has in the past been based only on shell characters,and there has been no agreement about the number of valid species in this *** this study,we explore the taxonomy and phylogeny of Macridiscus species in order to resolve the systematics of the genus of Macridiscus,based not only on shell characters but also on mitochondrial and nuclear DNA *** morphological characters,the sequences of the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I(COI)of mitochondrial DNA and the first internal transcribed spacer region(ITS1)between the 18S and 5.8S ribosomal DNA were highly concordant and clearly suggested that three species should be recognized in the genus Macridiscus:*** (R(o|¨)mer,1860),***.("aequilatera"auctt.)(Lutaenko,2001)and ***(Koch,in Philippi,1843).Our finding supports Lutaenko's(2001,Phuket Marine Biological Center Special Publication 25:465-486.)classification of the genus Macridiscus(which he put under the genus Gomphina as a subgenus),and the morphological characters and geographical distribution of the three species were redescribed based on the molecular data.

Katayama et al.(2003) dated zircon in some ultramafic rocks dominated by garnet and titanian clinohumite(hereafter Ti-clinohumite rocks) from the Kokchetav ultrahigh-pressure(UHP) metamorphic terrane,and interpreted that the zircon cores formed in the mantle in the Proterozoic and the zircon overgrowths formed as a result of UHP metamorphism and mantle metasomatism by slab-induced fluids/melt during the early ***,the data presented in this and their foregoing papers (Muko et al.,2002,Okamoto et al.,2000) cast considerable doubt about their interpretation and conclusions.

PFCs(Perfluoro compounds) is used as cleaning gas and etching gas at semiconductor industry. Exhausted PFC have strong effect to global worming. For example, exhausted CF4 have very long life at atmosphere (50,000 years), then it effect to global worming 6500 times compare with CO2. Recently, reduction of exhaust PFC is required. High decomposition method of PFC was developed in this research. CF4 have most strong bond among PFC, then CF4 was chosen to investigate of decomposition characterization of PFC.

Several reports suggest that college students often have atypical sleep patterns and experience poor sleep quality. We examined the effect of a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) based intervention program to improve sleep quality and overall mental health among college students. The intervention was delivered in the form of e-mail newsletters. Fifty-three students participated in the intervention group, and another 50 students participated in the control group. The intervention group received a lecture on sleep hygiene;once-weekly e-mail newsletters on sleep health topics (sleep hygiene, stimulus control, sleep restriction, sleep titration, and relapse prevention) and were asked to maintain a four-week sleep diary. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), a measure of sleep quality, and the Kessler 6, a measure of psychological distress, were administered before the lecture (as the baseline measurement) and again 16 weeks later (follow-up measurement). PSQI and K6 scores were reduced in the intervention group compared with the control group. A CBT-based sleep health program utilizing e-mail newsletters may work to improve sleep quality and mental health. This program may represent a cost effective way for Japanese students to receive treatment for poor sleep and may also serve to prevent psychiatric problems.
