Generation of lossy mode resonances(LmR)using perovskite nanofilms

The results presented here show for the first time the experimental demonstration of the fabrication of lossy mode resonance(LmR) devices based on perovskite coatings deposited on planar waveguides. Perovskite thin films have been obtained by means of the spin coating technique and their presence was confirmed by ellipsometry, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction testing. The LmRs can be generated in a wide wavelength range and the experimental results agree with the theoretical simulations. Overall, this study highlights the potential of perovskite thin films for the development of novel LmR-based devices that can be used for environmental monitoring, industrial sensing, and gas detection, among other applications.

Solar-assisted photocatalytic water splitting using defective UiO-66 solids from modulated synthesis

Damage mechanism of CK2 and IKAROS in Philadelphia Like Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is characterized by immature and poorly differentiated B lymphocytes in large numbers in the blood. B cells are distinct from the cell types involved in their development (common lymphoid progenitor cells, pro-B cells, pre-B cells, and mature cells). The process of B cell maturation depends on precise communication within the cell: signals activate specific genes that are essential for proper development. Errors in this intricate signaling network can lead to issues with B cell function and contribute to disease. B-lineage acute lymphoid leukemias, malignancies of precursor-stage B lymphoid cells inhibit lymphoid differentiation, leading to abnormal cell proliferation and survival. The process of developing leukemia (leukemogenesis) can be triggered by an overproduction of both hematopoietic stem cells (the cells that form all blood cells) and the immature versions of white blood cells called lymphoblasts. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) with the presence of the Philadelphia chromosome (ALL Ph) is classified as a high-risk manifestation of the disease, this chromosome is the product of the reciprocal translocation, whose product is a BCR-ABL fusion protein. It is a highly active tyrosine kinase that can transform hematopoietic cells into cytokine-independent. Hyperphosphorylation cascades inhibit the differentiating function of IKZF1 as a tumor suppressor gene which leads to an abnormal proliferation of B cells due to the presence of the Philadelphia chromosome;it inhibits the differentiating process, leukemogenesis involving immature B cells in the bloodstream can result from the uncontrolled growth and division of hematopoietic stem cells and immature lymphoblasts (the precursors to B cells).

Background The nationally determined contribution（NDC） presented by Argentina within the framework of the Paris Agreement is aligned with the decisions made in the context of the United Nations Framework Conven-tion on Climate Change（UNFCCC） on the reduction of emissions derived from deforestation and forest degradation, as well as forest carbon conservation（REDD+）. In addition, climate change constitutes one of the greatest threats to forest biodiversity and ecosystem services. However, the soil organic carbon（SOC） stocks of native forests have not been incorporated into the Forest Reference Emission Levels calculations and for conservation planning under cli-mate variability due to a lack of information. The objectives of this study were:（i） to model SOC stocks to 30 cm of native forests at a national scale using climatic, topographic and vegetation as predictor variables, and（ii） to relate SOC stocks with spatial–temporal remotely sensed indices to determine biodiversity conservation concerns due to threats from high inter-annual climate *** We used 1040 forest soil samples（0–30 cm） to generate spatially explicit estimates of SOC native forests in Argentina at a spatial resolution of approximately 200 m. We selected 52 potential predictive environmental covari-ates, which represent key factors for the spatial distribution of SOC. All covariate maps were uploaded to the Google Earth Engine cloud-based computing platform for subsequent modelling. To determine the biodiversity threats from high inter-annual climate variability, we employed the spatial–temporal satellite-derived indices based on Enhanced Vegetation Index（EVI） and land surface temperature（LST） images from Landsat *** SOC model（0–30 cm depth） prediction accounted for 69% of the variation of this soil property across the whole native forest coverage in Argentina. High refractive index dielectric nanoantennas strongly modify the decay rate via the Purcell effect through the design of radiative *** to their dielectric nature,the field is mainly confined inside the nanostructure and in the gap,which is hard to probe with scanning probe *** we use single-molecule fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy(smFLIm)to map the decay rate enhancement in dielectric GaP nanoantenna dimers with a median localization precision of 14 *** measure,in the gap of the nanoantenna,decay rates that are almost 30 times larger than on a glass *** comparing experimental results with numerical simulations we show that this large enhancement is essentially radiative,contrary to the case of plasmonic nanoantennas,and therefore has great potential for applications such as quantum optics and biosensing.

Desmodus rotundus and Diphylla ecaudata, both of which are mammals of the order Chiroptera, Desmodontidae family, their diet consisting exclusively of blood. D. rotundus is the main vector and transmitter of the rabies virus, which affects human beings as well as several livestock species so the study of this bat species is of high importance within the fields of animal agriculture and public health. The present study describes and compares the histologic characteristics of the urinary system of two hematophagous bat species. A total of 5 bats from each species were captured in the municipalities of Progreso de Obregón, Hidalgo (D. rotundus), and Huayacocotla, Veracruz (D. ecaudata). Organs belonging to the urinary system were extracted: kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra;samples were fixed using 10% formalin and processed by the paraffin embedding technique, obtaining sections of 5 µm thickness, which in turn were stained using hematoxylin-eosin (H-E) and Gomori trichrome (GT) stains. From the obtained histologic preparations, a descriptive and comparative analysis of the structural organography of the urinary system of both species was made, and no noteworthy histological differences between samples were noted. The present research is intended to provide a framework for future studies of these species’ currently understudied microscopic anatomy.

multistage tectono-stratigraphic evolution of the Canavese Intracontinental Suture Zone:New constraints on the tectonics of the Inner Western Alps

The Canavese Intracontinental Suture Zone(CISZ) within the Inner Western Alps represents the remnant of a long-lived minor subduction zone involving a narrow, thinned continental crust/oceanic lithosphere seaway between two continental domains of the Adria microplate(i.e., the Sesia Zone and the IvreaVerbano Zone). As opposed to many suture zones, the CISZ mostly escaped pervasive tectonic deformation and metamorphism, thus preserving the original stratigraphy and allowing the relationships between tectonics and sedimentation to be defined. Through detailed geological mapping(1:5000 scale),structural analysis, stratigraphic and petrographic observations, we document evidences for the late Paleozoic to late Cenozoic tectonic evolution of the CISZ, showing that it played a significant role in the context of the tectonic evolution of the Inner Western Alps region from the early to late Permian Pangea segmentation, to the Jurassic Tethyan rifting, and up to the subduction and collisional stages,forming the Western Alps. The site of localization/formation of the CISZ was not accidental but associated with the re-use of structures inherited from regional-scale wrench tectonics related to the segmentation of Pangea, and from the subsequent extensional tectonics related to the mesozoic rifting, as documented by crosscutting relationships between stratigraphic unconformities and tectonic features. Our findings document that evidences derived from stratigraphy, facies indicators, and relationships between tectonics and sedimentation in the shallow crustal portions of suture zones, such in the CISZ, are important to better constrain the tectonic history of those metamorphic orogenic belts around the world in which evolutionary details are commonly complicated by high-strain deformation and metamorphic transformations.
