Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Conakry, Republic of Guinea: Analysis and Relationship with Meteorological Factors

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), dates back to December 29, 2019, in Wuhan, China. It quickly spreads like wildfire to all continents in the following months. In Guinea, the first case of COVID-19 and death were all reported respectively on March 12 and April 16, 2020. Since then, several studies have found a relationship between certain environmental conditions such as the meteorological factors to have the potential of contributing to the spread of the virus. Thus, this study aims at examining the extent to which observed meteorological factors might have contributed to the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Conakry, from March 1 to May 31, 2020. Meteorological factors such as temperature (Tmin, Tmean and Tmax) and relative humidity (RHmin, RHmean and RHmax) were analyzed together with the data on the COVID-19. The dynamic of the COVID-19 in Guinea was analyzed along with that of some west African countries. The analysis on the dynamic of the COVID-19 pandemic in West Africa indicated Guinea as one of the most affected countries by the pandemic after Nigeria and Ghana. The study found that in general an increase in the temperature is linked to a decline in the COVID-19 number of cases and deaths, while an increase in the humidity is positively correlated to the number of cases and deaths. Observed rainfall data of the National Meteorological Service of Guinea (NMS) exhibit that synoptic station usually records the largest rainfall amount in Guinea. Only few studies have been done on this rainfall peak observed in Conakry. This work better analyses the atmospheric dynamics leading to rainfall particularity. Using NMS data from 1981 to 2010, the monthly contribution and mean seasonal cycle of each station has been done. These findings of the study show that between July and August (rainfall season peak), the coastline particularly Conakry records the largest amount of rainfall. Using Era Interim data for the common period (1981-2010), we also investigate the rainfall dynamics in the lower level (1000 hPa - 850 hPa) from precipitable water, divergence, and moisture flow transport. There is a west and southwest moisture flow transport explained by a strong moisture convergence in the coastal region (Lower-Guinea). Furthermore, values of precipitable water in the same region are found, in agreement with the high moisture flow transport gradient. These incoming flow (west and south-west) undergo a return by blocking’s Kakoulima range (foehn effect) and Fouta Djallon massif to initiate convection clouds on the Guinean coast. These processes enhance a convergence of moisture associated with orographic origin convection. This has an important effect by increasing the rainfall amount in Conakry.

市政道路生态滤沟雨季积水渗透、旱季保墒是基本功能,而黄土生态滤沟回填土的设计无据可依,常导致景观植被雨季渍害或旱季枯死。为此,通过对重塑黄土进行小尺寸毛细水上升高度试验、大尺寸持水特性模型试验以及非饱和数值分析研究。结果表明:当干密度分别为1.3 g/cm^(3)、1.4 g/cm^(3)时,土柱的最终毛细水上升高度均可达到100 cm。土柱高度超过20 cm后,其含水率基本保持稳定,稳定含水率分别为30.0%、28.0%;在重塑黄土毛细水上升过程中,存在一个暂态饱和区,其中干密度越小,孔隙比越大,大孔隙数量增多,毛细吸力减弱,导致水分迁移速率较慢,同时被湿桥封闭的大气泡数量也较多,因此暂态饱和区的持续时间较长。对于1.3 g/cm^(3)的土柱,其湿润锋时程曲线的模拟值与实测值基本吻合。综合考虑黄土地层稳定的天然平均干密度、毛细水上升高度及其持水特性以及生态滤沟回填土在后期将经历反复的渗透固结与毛细作用,采用1.2 g/cm^(3)作为回填控制干密度,以确保市政道路生态滤沟中的植土在旱季仍能维持植被生长所需的土壤湿度。

Congenital Cervico-Mandibular Cystic Lymphangioma in Pediatric Surgical Setting in Guinea

Introduction: Cystic lymphangiomas are rare benign malformative tumors of the lymphatic system of obscure etiopathogenesis. The cervico-facial location remains the most common (75%). Although benign, these tumors remain potentially fatal, due to possible compression of the upper aero-digestive tract. The aim of this work is to study the epidemiological, diagnostic and therapeutic characteristics of cervico-mandibular congenital cystic lymphangiomas in the pediatric surgery department of the Donka National Hospital (HND) Conakry. Patients and methods: This is a retrospective and descriptive study of 13 files lasting 7 years from January 2015 to December 31, 2021. The files of children whose age is less than or equal to 15 years operated on cervical tumor with histological evidence of cystic lymphangioma were retained. The data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software 21 and anonymously. Results: The incidence of this study was 1.86 cases per year and a sex ratio of 0.62 in favor of girls. The average age was 8 months 19 days. In the antecedents, we only find poorly monitored pregnancies. The average size of the tumors was 11.85 cm. Cervical ultrasound and standard x-ray of the cervical mass were the only examinations performed. Total surgical excision of the cervical tumor was performed in all patients. The mass was polycystic on exploration. The histological examination of the surgical specimens was in favor of a cystic lymphangioma. The surgical consequences were simple in 11 patients (84.62%) and complicated by parietal suppuration in 2 cases (15.38%). There were no cases of recurrence after one year of follow-up. Conclusion: Cervico-mandibular cystic lymphangiomas are the most frequent locations of congenital lymphangiomas in children. Their severity is linked to the risk of compression of the aero-digestive tracts. Their diagnosis must be confirmed by the histology of the surgical specimen. An approach for QoS measurement and web service selection sureness

Web services have gained popularity m recent years anu prowue a new moue, u~ w^u, w,,,~,, ,^- cilitates interaction of scientific and business applications through the Internet. More often, several services with similar functionality are available from a large and changing number of service provid- ers. Quality of Service （QoS） is the dominant factor in service selection and is of great importance to users. In this paper, we propose a model for QoS measurement and web services selection. The model consists of QoS model, QoS monitoring, QoS comparison and service selection with a QoS feedback mechanism. The most suitable service is to take into account the agreed QoS, monitoring is done during invocation phase and if any deviation is recorded, next suitable service is selected. Fi- nally the model is proved to be feasible and effective by simulation experiments.

An adaptive routing protocol based on relative positions in VANETs

After presenting weaknesses of several classic routing protocols applied in vehicular ad hoc networks （VANETs） by a qualitative comparison, this paper proposes a novel self-adaptive routing protocol, named ARPP. With respect to the specific characteristics of VANETs, the proposed routing protocol adopts a dynamic topology establishment and time-varying control message sending mechanism. A direction-based forwarding strategy and a specific warning solution enhance the routing performance in ARPP. Simulation results show that the ARPP protocol outperforms the classic AODV in urban vehicle environment.

The mature design of wireless mobile sensor network makes it to be used in vast verities of applications including from home used to the security *** such types of applications based on wireless mobile sensor network are generally using real time data,most of them are interested in real time communication directly from cluster head of cluster instead of a base station in cluster *** would be possible if an external user allows to directly access real time data from the cluster head in cluster wireless mobile sensor network instead of accessing data from base *** this leads to a serious security breach and degrades the performance of any security protocol available in this *** existing schemes for authentication and cluster key management for external users,exchange a number of messages between cluster head and base station to allow external to access real time data from the base station instead of cluster *** increase communication cost and delay in such real time access *** handle this critical issue in cluster wireless mobile sensor network,we propose a lightweight authentication and key management scheme using a fuzzy *** this scheme,any external user can access data directly from the cluster head of any cluster without the involvement of the base *** proposed scheme only uses the one-way hash functions and bitwise XOR operations,apart from the fuzzy extractor method for the user biometric verification at the login *** presented scheme supports scalability for an increasing number of nodes using *** proposed scheme increases the life-time of the network by decreasing the key pool size.

Introduction: In sub-Saharan Africa and Mali, young women who have had heart surgery want to become pregnant. The occurrence of pregnancy in these women who have had heart surgery is becoming more and more frequent in our country because of the persistence of acute rheumatoid arthritis (RAA) and especially the increasingly easy access to heart surgery. General Objective: To study the evolution of pregnancy and the prognosis of childbirth in women who have undergone heart surgery. Methodology: This was a retrospective and descriptive study that took place over a period of five (5) years in the gynecology-obstetrics department of University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Gabriel Touré and the cardiology department of UTH Luxembourg. Objectives: The objectives of this article are to: 1) Determine the prevalence of parturient that escapes from the ETME, 2) Determine the rate of acceptability or non-acceptability of the HIV tests, 3) Describe the epidemiological profile and 4) Describe the factors explaining the lack of screening during pregnancy. Methodology: This report is based on an eventual descriptive study carried out in the Maternity Ward at the Ratoma Medical Centre for the past six months. The study took place over six (6) months from June 15 to December 15, 2016. The data were collected by individual interviews using a data collection sheet and prenatal consultation booklet that were administered to parturients in their language of comprehension. Each unscreened parturient received in the delivery room or in immediate postpartum received pre- and post-test HIV/AIDS counseling with immediate announcement of the outcome for all those who accepted the principle. For parturients who were in the active phase of work, counseling/testing was done in the immediate postpartum period. The data were manually collected from the pre-established fact sheets, captured using the Word, Excel and PowerPoint software packages of the 2007 Office and analyzed by the Epi-Info software (version 3.5.4). The limitations of the study were the lack of adequate room for the HIV testing council, the refusal of HIV testing by some parturients and the lack of achievement of CD4 levels in the hospital laboratory. Outcomes: The survey indicated that out of the 41.80% (177/423) of pregnant women that have recently given birth, ignore their HIV status. About 36.90% (66/177) rejected the screening and the 6.4% (7/111) that accepted were HIV/AIDS positive. The epidemiological study revolved around the following categories of women aged between 24 and 33 (42.85%), 1) Married (100%), 2) Housewives (57.14%), 3) Out-of-school (57.14), 4) Lack prenatal follow-up (42.85%), 5) Ignorance of the existence of HIV (71.42%). 企业、网络服务提供商以及移动网络运营商都在寻找一种有效的传输方法，这种传输方法可以在多个独立的地点间以高速宽带的方式传输数据、语音以及视频信息。使用铜线和光纤技术的方法经常会由于其先期投入、电信公司的多次使用以及缺少与运营机构合作的灵活性等而不符合标准。而新出现的无线宽带技术则可以在与有线解决方法可靠性和性能上持平或者超过它的同时，可以填补空缺并减少总的运营成本。本文阐述了怎样在宽带无线接入（BWA）网络中保证不同特性的服务质量（QoS）。而实现WiMAX考虑的主要问题就是提供高效的切换。就QoS参数而言，切换过程越快越好。且研究者已提出了各种快速切换算法来满足QoS要求。本文解释了WiMAX中的切换过程以及其他不同的切换技术。介绍到的快速切换技术包括低功耗目标基站选择、快速测距以及预注册。在一定假设的前提下，研究了这些切换技术在诸如扫描时间以及切换时延等WiMAX参数上的影响。大量的仿真结果表明，这些快速切换机制既减少了扫描时间和切换时延，又改善了WiMAX切换过程的整体性能。另外，由于一次短的扫描间隔都需要多次迭代，所以会延长整个扫描的持续时间。本文提出了一种扫描算法，这种扫描算法可以优化不同MS速度、不同BS密度下的扫描参数，这些参数包括扫描持续时间、交叉存取间隔以及扫描迭代次数等。并且，在OPNET仿真器中创建了切换场景，并评估了其性能。
