Lysosomes are the“cell stomach”that digests various species including macromolecules and pathogens for self-repair and self-defense upon fusion with endosomes,autophagosomes,and ***,artificially manipulating intracellular vesicles could potentially promote lysosome-mediated intracellular digestion for disease prevention and ***,a supramolecular strategy to efficiently tether and fuse acidic vesicles(i.e.,lysosomes,late endosomes,autolysosomes,and phagosomes)has been developed for the first time to enhance the digestion of cellular wastes and foreign matter,including pathogens.A linear polyethylene glycol(PEG)derivative dually tagged with morpholine(MOR)and adamantane(ADA)on the opposite side,namely,MOR-PEG-ADA,was designed to target intracellular acidic vesicles via MOR and to decorate their surfaces with ***,the addition of cucurbit[7]uril(CB[7])grafted hyaluronic acid(HA)induced supramolecular tethering and fusion of acidic vesicles via strong host-guest interactions between CB[7]of CB[7]-HA and ADA residing on the surface of acidic *** a proof-ofconcept,the overall cellular metabolism,including endogenous autophagy and the exogenous endocytosis and phagocytosis,was effectively upregulated,demonstrating that supramolecular regulation of the dynamics of intracellular acidic vesicles may promote the lysosome’s digestion to significantly improve cellular self-repair and self-defense.

Attributed to the miniaturized body size and active mobility,micro-and nanomotors(MNMs)have demonstrated tremendous potential for medical ***,from bench to bedside,massive efforts are needed to address critical issues,such as cost-effective fabrication,on-demand integration of multiple functions,biocompatibility,biodegradability,controlled propulsion and in vivo ***,we summarize the advances of biomedical MNMs reported in the past two decades,with particular emphasis on the design,fabrication,propulsion,navigation,and the abilities of biological barriers penetration,biosensing,diagnosis,minimally invasive surgery and targeted cargo *** perspectives and challenges are discussed as *** review can lay the foundation for the future direction of medical MNMs,pushing one step forward on the road to achieving practical theranostics using MNMs.

Soybean[Glycine max（L.） Merr.]is one of the world＇s major crops,and soybean seeds are a rich and important resource for proteins and *** ＂omics＂ studies,such as genomics,transcriptomics,and proteomics,have been widely applied in soybean molecular research,fewer metabolomic studies have been conducted for largescale detection of low molecular weight metabolites,especially in soybean *** this study,we investigated the seed metabolomes of 29 common soybean cultivars through combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass *** hundred sixty-nine named metabolites were identified and subsequently used to construct a metabolic network of mature soybean *** the 169 detected metabolites,104 were found to be significantly variable in their levels across tested *** markers that could be used to distinguish genetically related soybean cultivars were also identified,and metabolitemetabolite correlation analysis revealed some significant associations within the same or among different metabolite *** from this work may potentially provide the basis for further studies on both soybean seed metabolism and metabolic engineering to improve soybean seed quality and yield.

Many animals use color to signal their quality and/or behavioral *** signals have been well studied in the contexts of competi-tion and mate choice;however,the role of these signals in nonsexual,affiliative relationships is not as well ***,we used wild social groups of the cichlid fish Neolamprologus pulcher to investigate whether the size of a brightly colored facial patch was related to 1)individual quality,2)social dominance,and/or 3)affiliative *** with larger patches spent more time foraging and tended to perform more aggressive acts against conspecific territory *** did not find any evidence that the size of these yellow patches was related to social rank or body size,but dominant males tended to have larger patches than dominant ***,patch size had a rank-specific relationship with the number of affiliative interactions that individuals engaged *** males with large patches received fewer affiliative acts from their groupmates compared to dominant males with small ***,subordinates with large patches tended to receive more affiliative acts from their groupmates while performing fewer affiliative acts *** together,our results suggest that patch size reflects interindividual variation in foraging effort in this cichlid fish and offer some of the first evidence that colorful signals may shape affiliative relationships withinwildsocialgroups.

Clinical-DNA Correlates of Anxiety in Patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

Introduction: Anxiety disorders have a lifetime prevalence of 34% with a similar level of heritability (31%) yet lack objective markers that could differentiate patients with underlying conditions. Up to 60%-70% of patients with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome have anxiety that meets criteria of generalized anxiety disorder, their clinical-DNA findings worth examining as biomarkers for patients with generalized anxiety. Method: Of the 1899 patients diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, 1261 were systematically evaluated for 80 history and 40 physical findings and separated into 826 who reported anxiety and 435 who did not. The most consistently reported or management-directing 60 of these clinical findings were, along with variations in genes relevant to these disorders, examined for association with anxiety. Results: Among the 30 anxiety- associated findings judged most predictive of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome in patients with anxiety were expected ones of adrenergic stimulation (difficulty concentrating-87% frequency and 1.26 anxiety/no anxiety ratio;chronic fatigue-84%, 1.17;sleep issues 69%, 1.52 that are criteria for generalized anxiety disorder) or of cholinergic suppression (e.g., frequent nausea 64%, 1.26). Less associated but more discriminating for underlying disease were those reflective of neuromuscular impact (e.g., chronic daily headaches 76%, 1.12);hypermobility (e.g., awareness of flexibility 72%, 1.03), or skin changes (e.g., elasticity around jaw 71%, 1.06). Anxiety-associated DNA variants included 54 of 88 in collagen type I/V/VII/IX genes, 14 of 16 in sodium channel SCN9A/10A/ 11A genes, 59 of 85 in POLG/MT-DNA genes, and 21 of 28 in profilaggrin- FLG genes that respectively impacted tissue laxity, sensory neural, autonomic-mitochondrial, and autonomic-inflammatory functions. Conclusion: Analysis of pathogenetic mechanisms in Ehlers-Danlos syndrome selected some 50 clinical-DNA findings useful for its diagnosis in those with generalized anxiety disorders.

Rare Case of Large Anterior Meningocele Associated with Uterine Didelphys

We report a 27-year-old female who presented with abdominal distension, saddle anesthesia, and lower back pain. CT and MRI of the abdomen/spine were performed which showed a large anterior sacral meningocele occupying most of the pelvic and abdominal cavity and displacement of their respective contents. Anterior approach was chosen, uterine didelphys was identified and mobilized, meningocele identified and gentle drainage with subsequent resection of the cyst wall and watertight closure was achieved. Subsequent MRI demonstrated resolution of most the sacral meningocele. Patient symptoms improved and are doing well.
