AIM:Smoking may affect adversely the response rate to interferon-α.Our objective was to verify this issue among chronic hepatitis C patients. METHODS:Over the year 1998,138 chronic hepatitis C male Egyptian patients presenting to ca.ro Liver Center, were divided on the basis of smoking habit into:group I which comprised 38 smoker patients(>30 cigarettes/d) and group Ⅱ which included 84 non-smoker patients. Irregular and mild smokers(16 patients)were excluded. Non eligible patients for interferon-α therapy were excluded from the study and comprised 3/38(normal ALT)in group I and 22/84 in group Ⅱ(normal ALT,advanced cirrhosis and thrombocytopenia).Group I was randomly alloca.ed into 2 sub-groups:group ia comprised 18 patients who were subjected to therapeutic phlebotomy while sub-group Ib consisted of 17 patients who had no *** sub-group la,3 patients with normal ALT after repeated phlebotomies were excluded from the ***-α 2b 3 MU/TIW was given for 6 mo to 15 patients in group ia,17 patients in group Ib and 62 patients in group Ⅱ. Biochemica.,virologica. end-of-treatment and sustained responses were evaluated. RESULTS:At the end of interferon-α treatment,ALT was normalized in 3/15 patients(20%)in group ia and 2/17 patients(11.8%)in group Ib compared to17/62 patients (27.4%)in group Ⅱ(P=0.1).Whereas 2/15 patients(13.3%) in group *** 2/17 patients(11.8%)in group Ib lost viraemia compared to 13/62 patients(26%)in group Ⅱ (P=0.3).Six months later,ALT was persistently normal in 2/15 patients(13.3%)in group 1a and 1/17 patients (5.9%)in group Ib compared to 9/62 patients(14.5%)in group Ⅱ(P=0.47).Viraemia was eliminated in 1/15 patients (6.7%)in group ia and 1/17 patients(5.9%)in group Ib compared to 7/62 patients(11.3%) in group Ⅱ,but the results did not mount to statistica. significa.ce(P=0.4). The Qingzhen and Yamato 691 (EH3) enstatite chondrites, which formed under extremely reducing condi-tions, are studied using the sca.ning electron microscope and electron probe microanalyzer. Both meteorites contain FeO-rich silica.es and minor ca. Al-rich inclusions. Most FeO-rich silica.es are ca.poor pyroxenes and occur as frag-ments in matrix. A few grains of FeO-rich silica.es were found in chondrules, and FeO-rich olivine is rare. In Qingzhen, FeO-rich silica.es commonly contain abundant dust-like Ni-poor metals, which probably formed through reduction of FeO. In contrast, only a few fragments of FeO-rich silica.es in Yamato 691 enclose dust-like metals. This difference is consistent with a more reducing condition of Qingzhen than Yamato 691. ca. Al-rich inclusions have similar modal compositions and mineral chemistry as their counterparts in ca.bonaceous chondrites. Management of black Locust (Robinia pseudoaca.ia L.) stands in Hungary

Black locust (Robinia pseudoaca.ia L.) was the first forest tree species to be imported from North America.to Europe at the beginning of the 17th century. It is the most important fast-growing stand-forming tree species in Hungary. Black locust planta-tions ca. be successfully established in response to a range of economic and ecologica. opportunities. Plantation survival and productivity are maximized by matching the species' growth characteristics with silvicultural options and land management needs. In the paper the sequence of forest tending operations in black locust stands is proposed, based on results of long-term stand structure and forest yield trials. Implementing good silvicultural plans and models will lead to profitable black locust stands and greater ac-ceptance of the species by land managers. Black locust would also be a very useful species for energy productions as the related research results have been shown in the paper.

On the line of a previous work on the spectral properties of some of heteroaryl chalcone, the effect of medium acidity and photoreactivity of 3-（4-dimethylamino-phenyl）-l-（2,5-dimethyl-thiophen-3-yl）-propenone （DDTP） has been investigated in dimethylformamide and in chloromethane solvents such as methylenechloride, chloroform and ca.bon tetrachloride. The dye solution （ca. 5×10^-4 mol·L^-1 in DMF） gives a good laser emission in the range 470 --560 nm with emission maximum at 515 nm upon pumping by nitrogen laser （λex=337.1 nm）. The laser parameters such as gain coefficient （a）, emission cross section （Cre） and half life energy （E1/2） at maximum laser emission are also determined.

报告一种快速定位恶性肿瘤的新方法:把氩离子激光器、光学多道分析仪、纤维光学元件和内窥镜组合,用于临床的激光激发荧光光谱检测,在计算机上直接显示出表征组织恶变特异性的数据点,提高诊断的准确性,能连续快速搜索成片可疑区,应用这项技术对30只Lewis肺癌小鼠和对21例体表、腔管表恶性肿瘤病人实施自体荧光光谱或血卟啉荧光光谱的检测,结果均能快速地区分出恶变区和正常区。

ca.bon materials are widely used for superca.acitor applica.ions thanks to their high surface area, good rate ca.ability, and excellent cycling stability. However, the development of high energy density ca.bon superca.acitors still remains a challenge. In this work, hollow Co3O4 nanoboxes have been embedded into three-dimensional macroporous laser-scribed graphene （LSG） to produce composite electrodes with improved electrochemica. performance. Here, Co3O4 provides high ca.acity through fast and reversible redox reactions, while LSG serves as a conductive network to maintain high power. The open nanobox morphology is a unique solution for extracting the maximum ca.acity from Co3O4, resulting in electrodes whose surfaces, both internal and external, are accessible to the electrolyte. The electrochemica. performance of the composite material is promising with a volumetric ca.acity of 60.0 C/cm^3 and a specific ca.acity of 542.3 C/g, corresponding to 682.0 C/g of the constituent Co3O4. With a low equivalent series resistance of 0.9 Ω, the Co3O4/LSG electrode is able to maintain 113.1% of its original ca.acity after 10,000 cycles. This work provides new insights into the design of high-performance ca.bon/metal oxide nano- composites for next-generation energy storage devices.

主要研究了金属离子交换分子筛对有机硫化物苯并噻吩和二苯并噻吩的吸附。首先通过液相离子交换法对商品的Na(Ⅰ)/Y分子筛进行改性,分别制备了5种过渡金属离子的Y型分子筛Ag(Ⅰ)/Y、Ni(Ⅱ)/Y、Zn(Ⅱ)/Y、Cu(Ⅱ)/Y和Fe(Ⅲ)/Y,用静态吸附法测定了苯并噻吩和二苯并噻吩分别在6种Y型分子筛上的吸附等温线,应用软硬酸碱理论分析和讨论了其吸附能力的差异。结果表明:Na(Ⅰ)/Y对苯并噻吩有吸附,而对二苯并噻吩无吸附作用;Na (Ⅰ)/Y分子筛经离子交换Ag^+、Ni^(2+)、Zn^(2+)、Cu^(2+)、Fe^(3+)后,其吸附苯并噻吩和二苯并噻吩的能力得到了不同程度的提高,其中交换软酸离子的Ag(Ⅰ)/Y其吸附容量增加最多,交换交界酸的Ni(Ⅱ)/Y、Zn(Ⅱ)/ Y、Cu(Ⅱ)/Y次之,而交换硬酸的Fe(Ⅲ)/Y增加最少。这表明,当Na(Ⅰ)/Y分子筛上分别离子交换以上5种软酸性大于Na^+的金属离子时,所得到的改性分子筛其对苯并噻吩和二苯并噻吩的吸附容量均增强。同时,这种吸附能力的大小顺序基本上与这些离子的绝对硬度η成反比。

Background:Squamous cell ca.cinoma(SCC)of the bladder is common in many regions around the *** is very poor,as most ca.es are diagnosed at an advanced stage due to a lack of affordable and valid screening markers for this type of *** diagnostic accuracy of urinary nuclear matrix protein-22(NMP22),telomerase activity,and CD44 were evaluated in urine samples of patients with bladder *** and methods:We conducted a ca.e-control study comprised of 60 consecutive newly diagnosed bladder SCC patients diagnosed by cystoscopy and histopathologica. examination,and controls were 60 outpatients with benign urologic conditions and healthy clinic *** samples collected from each subject underwent testing for NMP22,telomerase activity,and *** and correlational statistica. analysis of ca.es and controls were ca.ried out and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to determine optimal cut-off points for the three ***:Area under the curve was ca.culated at 0.96,0.93,and 0.62 for NMP22,telomerase,and CD44,*** levels of NMP22 and telomerase activity were significa.tly higher in the SCC group compared to controls(pca.tly higher in the SCC group compared to controls(p=0.111).The overall sensitivity of NMP22,telomerase,and CD44 was 96.7%,87%,and 45%,respectively,while the specificity was 85%,88.6%,and 86.7%,***:Urinary telomerase activity,followed by NMP22 urine levels,showed high diagnostic yield and could hold potential promise as urinary biomarkers for the diagnosis of bladder SCC.
