Background Sperm cryopreservation is widely used in the cattle industry,as it allows for disassociating the localiza-tion of sires and the collection of semen from the timing of artificial *** freeze-thawing is known to impair sperm DNA integrity,whether the damage induced consists of single-(SSB)or double-strand breaks(DSB)has not been *** addition,no previous study has addressed if DNA breaks preferentially reside in specific genome regions such as those forming the toroid linker regions,or are rather spread throughout the regions linked to *** main aim of the present work,therefore,was to elucidate the type and localization of the DNA damage generated by cryopreservation and to evaluate its impact on artificial insemination outcomes in *** The incidence of SSB and DSB was evaluated in 12 ejaculates before and after cryopreservation with the Comet assay,and the localization of the DNA breaks was assessed using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis(PFGE).Before cryopreservation,the incidence of SSB was 10.99%±4.62%and involved 20.56%±3.04%of sperm cells,whereas these figures significantly(Pincreased up to 34.11%±3.48%and 53.36%±11.00%in frozen-thawed *** contrast,no significant differences in the incidence of DSB were observed(P>0.990)before and after cryopreservation(before:incidence of 13.91%±1.75%of sperm DNA affecting 56.04%±12.49%of sperm cells;after:incidence of 13.55%±1.55%of sperm DNA involving 53.36%±11.00%of sperm cells).Moreover,PFGE revealed that the percentage of sperm DNA fragments whose length was shorter than a toroid(ore freeze-thawing(15.57%±4.53%).These differences indicated that the DNA breaks induced by cryopreservation affect the regions condensed in protamines,which are structured in *** the other hand,in vivo fertility rates were associated to the incidence of SSB and DSB in frozen-thawed sperm(P=0.032 and P=0.005),but not w

in this paper,a new M3Y-type effective nucleon–nucleon interaction,derived based on the lowest order constrained variational approach(LoCV)and termed B3Y-Fetal,has been used in DDM3Y1,BDM3Y1,BDM3Y2,and BDM3Y3 density-dependent versions in a heavy ion(Hi)optical potential based on four types of a real folded potential and a phenomenological Woods–Saxon imaginary potential to study the elastic scattering of the^(16)o+^(16)o nuclear system within the framework of the optical model(oM)by computing the associated differential cross sections at various incident *** results of the folding analyses have shown the DDB3Y1-Fetal and BDB3Y1-Fetal,out of the four folded potentials,give a reasonably better description of the elastic data of the nuclear *** best-fit folded potentials are followed,in performance,by the BDB3Y2-Fetal,with the BDB3Y3-Fetal potential coming *** performance trend was also demonstrated by the optical potentials based on the M3Y-Reid ***,the best-fit folded potentials,renormalized by a factor NRof approximately 0.9,have been shown to reproduce the energy dependence of the real optical potential for^(16)o scattering found in previous optical model analyses creditably *** excellent agreement with previous works,they have also been identified in this work to belong to the family of deep refractive potentials because they have been able to reproduce and consistently describe the evolution of Airylike structures,at large scattering angles,observed in the^(16)o scattering data at different ***,a comparison of the performances of B3Y-Fetal and M3Y-Reid effective interactions undertaken in this work has shown impressive agreement between them.

The present article studies the effect of Ceo2 and A1203 on the activity of Pd/Co304/cordierite catalyst in conversion of No, Co, CnHm. The catalysts were characterized by temperature programmed reduction with hydrogen, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. it is shown that the effect of Ceo2 on the properties of Pd/C03 o4/cordierite catalyst depends on preparation method. The catalyst obtained by co-deposition of cerium and cobalt oxides has higher activity in Co oxidation （Co ＋ 02 and Co ＋ No） and total hexane oxidation （C6H14 ＋ 02）. Such phenomenon is probably caused by more than stoichiometric amount of formed oxygen vacancies, an increase in both mobility of surface oxygen and dispersity of components in the catalytic composition. it is demonstrated that Ceo2 addition promotes the So2 resistance of Pd/C03 o4/cordierite. The second support decreases the activity of Pd/Co3oa/cordierite catalyst in the reactions of Co and C6H14 with oxygen because of CoA1204 formation.

Analysis of inhibition of concrete steel-rebar corrosion by Na_2Cr_2o_7 concentrations:implications for conflicting reports on inhibitor effectiveness

Corrosion test data were measured using non-destructive electrochemical techniques and analysed for studying inhibition effectiveness by different concentrations of NazCr207 on the corrosion of concrete steel-rehar in NaC1 and in H2So4 media. For these, specifications of ASTM G16-95 R04 were combined with the normal and the Gumbel probability density functions as model analytical methods for addressing issues of conflicting reports of inhibitor effectiveness that had generated concerns. Results show that reinforced concrete samples admixed with concentrations having 4 g （0.012 7 tool）, 8 g （0.025 4 mol） and 6 g （0.019 l tool） NaaCr207 exhibited, in that order, high inhibition effectiveness, with respective efficiency, r/, of （90.46±1.30）%, （88.41＋2.24）% and （84.87±4.74）%, in the NaC1 medium. These exhibit good agreements within replicates and statistical methods for the samples. Also, optimal inhibition effectiveness model in the H2So4 medium was exhibited by 8 g （0.025 4 mol） Na2Cr207 concentration having r/=（78.44±1.10）%. These bear implications for addressing conflicting test data in the study of effective inhibitors for mitigating steel-rebar corrosion in aggressive environments.

Modelling the diagenetic history of a tectonically active basin is crucial for understanding the depositional and post-depositional processes including the evolution and development of porosity and permeability. This study describes the diagenetic imprints of the inverted Lower Cretaceous Weald Basin and examines the depositional and tectonic controls on the diagenetic, porosity and permeability evolution of its ***-two representative sandstone samples from the Weald Basin were subjected to detailed microscopic(optical and scanning electron) analyses. The dominant early diagenetic fabrics include grain-coating detrital clays, degraded and dissolved detrital grains, and vermiform kaolinite pore-filling cement while uplift-related or telogenetic characteristics are mainly post-compactional pore-filling goethite and hematite cement. This work is significant because it presents the first diagenetic model of the Lower Cretaceous Wealden sandstones which can be very useful for understanding basins with similar depositional and tectonic settings.

Electrolytic deposition of super-smart composite coating of Zn-V2o5-Nbo2 on low carbon steel for defence application

Despite the massive usages of low carbon steel in automobile for engineering components, its corrosion and high friction coefficient in aggressive environment make it limited in service. This paper is aimed at modifying low carbon steel structural component with thin film composite for enhanced mechanical and corrosion properties. The steel structure was electrodeposited with Zn-V_2 o_5 and embedded with varied Nbo_2 weight concentration of 6-12 wt % based electrolyte. Scanning electron microscope(SEM) and high optical microscope was used to study the microstructural evolution of the fabricated coatings. The thermal stability of the fabricated coatings was studied in an isothermal furnace at 300 ℃ and 600 ℃ and further characterized using a high tech optical microscope. Potentiodynamic polarization technique was used to investigate the corrosion behavior of the composites in 3.65% NaCl. From the result, the effect of Nbo_2 on Zn-V_2 o_5-Nbo_2 was massive with improved crystal grain within the coatings lattices. The coating possesses strong metallurgical bonding and good corrosion resistance properties of about 0.315 mm/yr corrosion rate compare to 4.1 mm/yr of as-received sample. No doubt the impact of thermal shock on the resilient characteristics of the composite coating was moderate owing to the stable adherent properties of the deposited coatings.
