Superior mechanical properties and strengthening mechanisms of lightweight AlxCrNbVMo refractory high-entropy alloys(x=0,0.5,1.0)fabricated by the powder metallurgy process

Light and strong AlxCrNbVMo(x=0,0.5,and 1.0)refractory high-entropy alloys(RHEAs)were designed and fabricated via a the powder metallurgical *** microstructure of the AlxCrNbVMo alloys consisted of a single BCC crystalline structure with a sub-micron grain size of 2-3μm,and small amounts(park-plasma *** alloys exhibited superior mechanical properties at 25 and 1000℃compared to those of other ***,CrNbVMo alloy showed a yield strength of 2743 MPa at room ***,the yield strength of the CrNbVMo alloy at 1000℃was 1513 *** specific yield strength of the CrNbVMo alloy was increased by 27%and 87%at 25 and 1000℃,respectively,compared to the AlMo_(0.5) NbTa_(0.5)TiZr RHEA,which exhibited so far the highest specific yield strength among the cast *** addition of Al to CrNbVMo alloy was advantageous in reducing its reduce density to below 8.0 g/cm^(3),while the elastic modulus decreased due to the much lower elastic modulus of Al compared to that of the CrNbVMo *** analysis of the strengthening contributions,showed that the solid solution strengthening,arising from a large misfit effect due to the size and modulus,and the high shear modulus of matrix,was revealed to predominant strengthening mechanism,accounting for over 50%of the yield strength of the AlxCrNbVMo RHEAs.

The role of additional ternary alloying elements on the performance of stationary TiFe-based hydrogen storage alloys was investigated based on first-principles density functional theory *** a basic step for examinations,the site preference of each alloying element in the stoichiometric and nonstoichiometric B2TiFe compounds was clarified considering possible antisite *** on the revealed site preference,the effect of various possible ternary elements on the hydrogen storage was examined by focusing on the formation enthalpies of TiFeH and TiFeH_(2) hydrides,which were closely related to the change in the location of plateaus in the pressure-composition-temperature *** physical properties such as the volume expansion due to hydride formation were also examined to provide additional criteria for selecting optimum alloying conditions in future alloying design *** alloying elements that maximize the grain boundary embrittlement due to the solute segregation were proposed for the enhanced initial activation of TiFe-based hydrogen storage alloys.

Parameterization of below-cloud scavenging for polydisperse fine mode aerosols as a function of rain intensity

The below-cloud aerosol scavenging process by precipitation is one of the most important mechanisms to remove aerosols from the *** to its complexity and dependence on both aerosol and raindrop sizes,wet scavenging process has been poorly treated,especially during the removal of fine *** makes the numerical simulation of below-cloud scavenging in large-scale aerosolmodels *** consider the slip effects of submicron particles,a simplified expression for the diffusion scavenging was developed by approximating the Cunningham slip correction *** derived analytic solution was parameterized as a simple power function of rain intensity under the assumption of the lognormal size distribution of *** resultant approximated expression was compared to the observed data and the results of previous studies including a 3D atmospheric chemical transport model *** with the default GEOS-Chem coefficient of 0.00106R0.61 and the observation-based coefficient of 0.0144R0.9268,the coefficient of a and b in∧m=aRb spread in the range of 0.0002-0.1959 for a and 0.3261-0.525 for b over a size distribution of GSD of 1.3–2.5 and a geometric mean diameter of 0.01-2.5μ***,this study showed that the scavenging coefficient varies widely by orders of magnitude according to the size distribution of particles and rain *** study also demonstrated that the obtained simplified expression could consider the theoretical approach of aerosol *** proposed analytic approach showed that results can be effectively applied for reduced computational burden in atmospheric modeling.

BACKGROUND Pancreatic walled-off necrosis(WON)rarely causes critical gastric necrosis and perforation,which may develop when pancreatic WON squashes against the *** Atlanta 2012 guidelines were introduced for acute pancreatitis and its related clinical ***,there are few reported cases describing the clinical course and resolution of pancreatic *** SUMMARY We report the case of a 45-year-old man who presented to the urgent emergency department with gastric perforation caused by a severe complication of pancreatic WON on computed *** patient underwent an emergency distal pancreatectomy,splenectomy,and gastric wedge *** findings showed re-perforation of the gastric wall at a previously resected ***,endoscopic examination revealed an ulcerative area with a defect in the *** diagnostic endoscopy,endoscopic vacuum-assisted closure was performed,and continuous suction was transferred over all tissues in contact with the sponge *** patient recovered without any further complications and was discharged in good condition at postoperative week *** recurrence occurred during the 6-mo follow-up *** When managing a patient with serious gastric perforation complicated by pancreatic WON,a multidisciplinary treatment approach should be considered.
