A high-carbon steel joint,SK5（0.84 wt% C）,was successfully welded by friction stir welding（FSW）,both without and with a gas torch,in order to control the cooling rate during *** welding,the weld zone comprised gray and black regions,corresponding to microstructural variation：a martensite structure and a duplex structure of ferrite and cementite,*** volume fraction of the martensite structure and the Vickers hardness in the welds were decreased with the using of the gas torch,which was related with the lower cooling rate.

Aldehyde and ketone compounds are ubiquitous in the air and prone to adverse effects on human *** emission is one of the major indoor *** to evaluate health risks associated with inhalation exposure to aldehyde and ketone compounds,13 carbonyl compounds(CCs)released from heating 5 edible oils,3 seasonings,and 2 dishes were investigated in a kitchen *** the scenarios of heating five types of oil,aldehydes accounted for 61.1%-78.0%of the total emission,mainly acetaldehyde,acrolein and ***,heating oil with added seasonings released greater concentrations of aldehyde and ketone *** concentration enhancement of larger molecular aldehydes was significantly *** emission factors of aldehyde and ketone compounds for cooking the dish of chili friedmeatweremuch greater compared to that of tomato fried ***,food materials also had a great impact on the aldehyde and ketone *** and acetaldehyde were the most abundant CCs in the *** concentrations ranged from 235.18 to 498.71μg/m^(3),which was about 100 times greater compared to the guidelines provided by Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment(OEHHA).The acetaldehyde inhalation for adultswas 856.83-1515.55μg and 56.23-192.79μg from exposure to chili fried meat and tomato fried eggs,*** exceeds the reference value of 90μg/day provided by *** findings of this study provided scientific evidences for the roles of cooking emissions on indoor air quality and human health.

Studies on the use of gas phase applications of light emitting diodes(LEDs) in photocatalysis are scarce although their photocatalytic decomposition kinetics of environmental pollutants are likely different from those in aqueous *** present study evaluated the use of chips of visible light LEDs to irradiate nitrogen doped titania(N-TiO2) prepared by hydrolysis to decompose gaseous benzene,toluene,ethyl benzene,m-xylene,p-xylene,and *** calcined at different temperatures were characterized by various analytical *** degradation efficiency of benzene was close to zero for all *** the other compounds,a conventional 8 W daylight lamp/N-TiO2 unit gave a higher photocatalytic degradation efficiency as compared with that of visible-LED/N-TiO2 ***,the ratios of degradation efficiency to electric power consumption were higher for the photocatalytic units that used two types of visible-LED lamps(blue and white LEDs).The highest degradation efficiency was observed with the use of a calcination temperature of 350 *** average degradation efficiencies for toluene,ethyl benzene,m-xylene,p-xylene,and o-xylene were 35%,68%,94%,and 93%,*** use of blue-and white-LEDs,high light intensity,and low initial concentrations gave high photocatalytic activities for the photocatalytic units using *** morphological and optical properties of the photocatalysts were correlated to explain the dependence of photocatalytic activity on calcination *** results suggest that visible-LEDs are energy efficient light source for photocatalytic gas phase applications,but the activity depends on the operational conditions.

High-Throughput Pb Recycling for Perovskite Solar Cells Using Biomimetic Whitlockite

Pb contamination in aquatic environments causes severe pollution;therefore,harmless absorbents are *** this study,we report a novel synthesis of whitlockite(WH,Ca_(18)Mg_(2)(HPO_(4))_(2)(PO_(4))_(12)),which is the second most abundant biomineral in human bone,and its application as a high-performing Pb^(2+)***(HAP)and WH are prepared via a simple precipitation *** Pb2+absorption performance and mechanism of the synthesized biominerals are investigated in aqueous solutions at neutral *** results demonstrate that WH exhibits an excellent Pb2+absorption capacity of 2339 mg g^(−1),which is 1.68 times higher than the recorded value for ***,the absorbed Pb^(2+) ions are recycled into high-purity PbI_(2).This is employed as a precursor for the fabrication of perovskite solar cells(PSCs),resulting in a conversion efficiency of 19.00%comparable to that of commercial PbI2 powder(99.99%purity).Our approach provides an efficient way to remove Pb^(2+)ions from water and reuse them in the recycling of PSCs.

AIM:To investigate whether expressing biliary phenotype predicted poor outcome after the surgical treatment in primary liver cancers. METHODS:Out of 204 patients that underwent liver resection due to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), liver specimens of 70 patients with HCC were evaluated for biliary components by cytokeratin (CK) 19 immunostain (CK19 - HCC and CK19 + HCC). CK19 positivity was defined as membranous and/or cytoplasmic expression in ≥ 5% of tumor cells with moderate or strong intensity. Patients with other primary liver cancers, such as com- bined HCC and cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CC), intrahe- patic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) who received curative liver resection, were also included in the study. Clinical characteristics of CK19-HCC and CK19 + HCC patients, including survival outcome after curative liver resection, were compared with that of cHCC-CC and ICC patients. RESULTS: The overall survival (OS) rate of CK19 - HCC(n = 49) after the curative surgical treatment was 90.7%, and 80.4% at 1 and 5 years after the resection. OS rate of CK19 + HCC (n = 21) was 74.3%, 28.9% and OS rate of cHCC-CC (n = 22) was 66.7%, 32.2% at 1 and 5 years after the surgery. For ICC (n = 19), 1 and 5-year-OS rate was 50.2% and 14.3% after the cura-tive resection. The OS rates of CK19 + HCC and cHCC-CC were significantly lower than that of CK19-HCC, but higher than the OS rate of ICC (P = 0.000). There was no statistically significant difference in OS rate between CK19 + HCC and cHCC-CC. The disease free survival (DFS) rate of CK19-HCC was 72.0% and 54.5% at 1 and 3 years after the surgical treatment. DFS rate of CK19 + HCC was 53.3%, 34.3% and DFS rate of cHCC- CC was 51.5%, 39.2% at 1 and 3 years after the resection. For ICC, 1 and 3-year-DFS rate was 28.0% and 14.0% after the curative resection. DFS rate of CK19-HCC was significantly higher than that of ICC (P = 0.017), but marginally higher than DFS rate of either CK19 + HCC or cHCC-CC (P = 0.097, P = 0.089, respec-tively).

Embryonic stem cells （ESCs） maintain their cellular identity through the systematic regulation of master transcription factors and chromatin remodeling complexes. Recent work has shown that the unusually large-scale enhancers-namely super-enhancers （SEs）, on which BRD4, a member of the bromodomain and extraterminal domain （BET） family is highly enriched-could regulate pluripotency-related transcrip- tion factors. Moreover, inhibition of BRD4 binding on SEs has been shown to induce the differentiation of ESCs. However, the underlying mechanism of BRD4 inhibition-mediated stern cell differentiation remains elusive. Here we show that both mouse and human ESCs lose their capacity for self-renewal upon treat- ment with JQ1, a selective inhibitor of BET family including BRD4, with rapid suppression of pluripotency-associated genes. Notably, a high concentration of JQI could selectively eliminate ESCs via apoptosis, without affecting the functionality of differentiated somatic cells from ESCs, suggesting that inhibition of BET may have a beneficial effect on the development of pluripotent stem cell-based cell therapy.

Simple nanofabrication of a superhydrophobic and transparent biomimetic surface

This paper describes a simple fabrication method for creating superhydrophobic and transparent glass surfaces that mimic natural surfaces such as lotus leaves, moth eyes or cicada wings. Nanostructured glass surfaces were created by a combination of colloidal lithography and plasma etching. A colloidal mask was formed simply by the spin coating of the polystyrene beads and with modification of the interparticle distance between the beads. The etching of the glasses was conducted by CF4 plasma. Tower-shaped nanostructures at an aspect ratio of 1:4 were treated using fluoroalkylsilane selfassembled monolayers (SAMs) to obtain the hydrophobic surfaces. The treated glass surfaces showed superhydrophobicity with a water contact angle of around 150° and a hexadecane contact angle of around 110°. Furthermore, the nanostructured glass was transparent to visible light.

The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of the types and thicknesses of glass ceramic plates on light transmittance and compare the degrees of conversion(DC) of resin cement under the ceramic materials. Three ceramic plates with thicknesses of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 4.0 mm were fabricated from each of five commercial ceramic blocks in shade A2: high-translucency and low-translucency IPS Empress CAD(EmpHT and EmpLT); high-translucency and low-translucency IPS *** CAD(EmxHT and EmxLT); and Vita Mark Ⅱ(Vita). The translucency parameter was obtained using a colorimeter. The light transmittance rate was measured using a photodetector attached to an optical power meter. The DC of a resin cement(Variolink N) underneath the ceramic plates was examined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The translucency parameter, light transmittance rate, and DC showed significant differences by ceramic type and thickness(P 0.05). Both type and thickness of the glass ceramics significantly influenced the light transmittance and DC of the light-cured resin cement beneath the ceramic of the same shade.

Objective: To discover lead lupane triterpenoid's potential isolated from Pueraria lobata roots against b-site amyloid precursor protein cleaving enzyme 1(BACE1), which serve as a rate limiting step in amyloid beta(Aβ) production altering the course of Alzheimer's disease. In addition, enzyme kinetics study and molecular docking were conducted to establish the inhibition type and structure activity ***: A systematic study of 70% ethanolic P. lobata root extract was employed to identify its BACE1 inhibitory potential. Further, BACE1 inhibitory potential of two lupane terpenoids, yielded from ethanolic extract, was assessed. In order to determine their inhibition mode, Lineweaver–Burk plots and Michaelis–Menten model for BACE1 was performed. Auto Dock 4.2 program in addition determined the molecular interaction of BACE1 with isolated ***: Considering the inhibitory potential of 70% ethanolic extract of P. lobata against BACE1(IC_(50)= 80.35 mg/mL), lupeol and lupenone were subsequently isolated and exhibited notable or moderate BACE1 inhibitory activity with IC_(50) values of 5.12 and 62.98 mmol/L, respectively, as compared to the positive control quercetin(IC_(50)= 21.28 mmol/L). The enzyme kinetics study enabled us to identify both compounds as competitive inhibitors, where lupeol displayed a very potent inhibition against BACE1 with low inhibition constant(Ki) value of 1.43 mmol/L, signifying greater binding *** order to understand the binding mechanism and structure–activity relationship of two triterpene-based BACE1 inhibitors, we employed computer aided docking studies which evidently revealed that hydroxyl group of lupeol formed two hydrogen bonds with the ASP32(catalytic aspartic residue) and SER35 residues of BACE1 with the binding energy of(-8.2 kcal/mol), while the ketone group of lupenone did not form any hydrogen bonds with BACE1 giving evidence for less binding affinity.
