Tribological properties of multilayer tetrahedral amorphous carbon coatings deposited by filtered cathodic vacuum arc deposition

Tetrahedral amorphous carbon(ta‐C)has emerged as an excellent coating material for improving the reliability of application components under high normal ***,we present the results of our investigations regarding the mechanical and tribological properties of a 2‐μm‐thick multilayer ta‐C coating on high‐speed steel *** composed of alternating soft and hard layers are fabricated using filtered a cathodic vacuum arc with alternating substrate bias voltages(0 and 100 V or 0 and 150 V).The thickness ratio is discovered to be 1:3 for the sp2‐rich and sp3‐rich *** results show that the hardness and elastic modulus of the multilayer ta‐C coatings increase with the sp3 content of the hard *** hardness reached approximately 37 GPa,whereas an improved toughness and a higher adhesion strength(>29 N)are *** friction performance(μ=0.07)of the multilayer coating is similar to that of the single layer ta‐C thick coating,but the wear rate(0.13×10^(–6) mm^(3)/(N∙m))improved under a high load of 30 *** further demonstrate the importance of the multilayer structure in suppressing crack propagation and increasing the resistance to plastic deformation(H3/E2)ratio.

Conditional survival in patients with gallbladder cancer

Background: Conditional survival(CS) has been established as a clinically relevant prognostic factor for cancer survivors, and the CS in gallbladder(GB) cancer has not yet been fully evaluated. In this study, we evaluated the cancerspecific CS rate and cancer-specific survival(CSS) rate in patients with GB cancer at multiple time points and investigated prognostic factors which affect cancer-specific CS rate to provide more accurate survival ***: Between 2004 and 2013, a total of 9760 patients with GB cancer were identified from the Surveillance,Epidemiology, and End Results(SEER) data. The 3-year cancer-specific CS rate was calculated using the covariateadjusted survival function in the Cox model for each year since diagnosis, and the results were analyzed together with the adjusted CSS rates at the same time points. Cox proportional hazards regression was performed to ascertain the individual contribution of factors associated with CSS rate at diagnosis and cancer-specific CS rates at 1,3, and 5 years after ***: The adjusted 5-year CSS rate was 26.1 %. The adjusted 3-year cancer-specific CS rates at 1,2,3,4, and 5 years after diagnosis were 55.5,72.2,81.5,86.8, and 90.5%, respectively. At the time of diagnosis, age, race, histology, grade,T, N, and M categories, surgery, radiotherapy, insurance status, and marriage status were significant prognostic factors of CSS. Five years after diagnosis, however,T and M categories were significant prognostic factors for survivors(P = 0.007 and P = 0.009, respectively), whereas surgery and radiotherapy were ***: T and M categories were significant prognostic factors even 5 years after the initial diagnosis, whereas local treatments at the time of diagnosis were not, suggesting that patients with GB cancer at high risks might need further adjuvant therapy after primary treatments. In this study, we investigated the effects of a combination of Ginkgo biloba extracts （GBE） and phosphodiesterase type 5 （PDE-5） inhibitors on the muscular tone of the corpus cavernosum and potassium channel activity of corporal smooth muscle cells. Strips of corpus cavernosum from male New Zealand white rabbits were mounted in organ baths for isometric tension studies. After contraction with 1 × 10^-5 mol I^-1 norepinephrine, GBE （0.01-1 mg ml^-1） and mirodenafil （0.01-100 nmol I^-1） were added together into the organ bath. In electrophysiological studies, whole-cell currents were recorded by the conventional patch-clamp technique in cultured smooth muscle cells of the human corpus cavernosum. The corpus cavemosum was relaxed in response to GBE in a dose-dependent manner （from 0.64%±8.35% at 0.01 mg ml^-1 to 52.28%±11.42% at 1 mg ml^-1）. After pre-treatment with 0.03 mg ml^-1 of GBE, the relaxant effects of mirodenafil were increased at all concentrations, After tetraethylammonium （TEA）（1 mmol I^-1） administration, the increased effects were inhibited （P〈0.01）. Extracellular administration of GBE increased the whole-cell K^＋ outward currents in a dose-dependent fashion. The increase of the outward current was inhibited by I mmol 1-1 TEA. These results suggest that GBE could increase the relaxant potency of mirodenafil even at a minimally effective dose. The K＋ flow through potassium channels might be one of the mechanisms involved in this synergistic relaxation.

Durability of viral response after off-treatment in HBeAg positive chronic hepatitis B

AIM:To evaluate the durability in hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) positive chronic hepatitis B patients who discontinued antiviral treatment. METHODS:A total of 48 HBeAg positive chronic hepatitis B patients who were administered nucleoside analogues and maintained virological response for ≥ 6 mo [hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA 104 copies/mL after HBeAg seroconversion with previously undetectable HBV-DNA level. RESULTS:During the median follow-up period of 18.2 mo (range:5.1-47.5 mo) after cessation of antiviral treatment, the cumulative serological recurrence rate was 15 % at 12 mo. The median duration between the cessation of antiviral treatment and serologic recurrence was 7.2 mo (range:1.2-10.9 mo). Of the 48 patients with HBeAg positive chronic hepatitis, 20 (41.6%) showed virological recurrence. The cumulative virologic recurrence rates at 12 mo after discontinuing the antiviral agent were 41%. The median duration between off-treatment and virologic recurrence was 7.6 mo (range:4.3-27.1 mo). The mean age of the virological recurrence group was older than that of the non-recurrence group (46.7 ± 12.1 years vs 38.8 ± 12.7 years, respectively; P = 0.022). Genetic-Based Keyword Matching DBSCAN in IoT for Discovering Adjacent Clusters

As location information of numerous Internet of Thing(IoT)devices can be recognized through IoT sensor technology,the need for technology to efficiently analyze spatial data is *** of the famous algorithms for classifying dense data into one cluster is Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise(DBSCAN).Existing DBSCAN research focuses on efficiently finding clusters in numeric data or categorical *** this paper,we propose the novel problem of discovering a set of adjacent clusters among the cluster results derived for each keyword in the keyword-based DBSCAN *** existing DBSCAN algorithm has a problem in that it is necessary to calculate the number of all cases in order to find adjacent clusters among clusters derived as a result of the *** solve this problem,we developed the Genetic algorithm-based Keyword Matching DBSCAN(GKM-DBSCAN)algorithm to which the genetic algorithm was applied to discover the set of adjacent clusters among the cluster results derived for each *** order to improve the performance of GKM-DBSCAN,we improved the general genetic algorithm by performing a genetic operation in *** conducted extensive experiments on both real and synthetic datasets to show the effectiveness of GKM-DBSCAN than the brute-force *** experimental results show that GKM-DBSCAN outperforms the brute-force method by up to 21 ***-DBSCAN with the index number binarization(INB)is 1.8 times faster than GKM-DBSCAN with the cluster number binarization(CNB).

Closed-loop Control Using High Power Hexapole Magnetic Tweezers for 3D Micromanipulation

This paper presents the design,modeling,integration,and application of 3D printed high power hexapole magnetic tweezers for 3D micromanipulation *** sharp-tipped magnetic poles were configured with electromagnetic coils and mounted on 3D printed magnetic yokes to form a tilted Cartesian coordinate system for actuation.A closed loop control algorithm was developed to automatically manipulate external power supplies connected to the magnetic tweezers,by using 3D positional information obtained from real-time image processing *** compared against other designs of magnetic tweezers,our system has a larger working space and can generate higher magnetic field *** allows for more diverse applications regarding small scale manipulation,including cell manipulation and cell *** and analytics explained in this paper demonstrate the closed-loop manipulation of microswimmers can provide a magnetic force as high as 800 pN while maintaining a positional error below 4μm in 3D and 1.6μm in *** the desired location as the control input,the microswimmers investigated were able to achieve arbitrary 2D and 3D *** also show that the implemented hexapole magnetic tweezers have adequate power to control microswimmers in Newtonian fluid *** system will later be optimized and deployed to control microswimmers in non-Newtonian fluid environments.
