The purpose of this paper is to verify the integrity and performance of the Passive Residual Heat Removal System （PRHRS） for SMART design during the steady state condition. The system’s overall thermal hydraulic behavior during the steady-state operation of the PRHRS of the SMART reactor was simulated using the VISTA-ITL, a small-scale integral effect test loop for SMART design. SMART’s PRHRS is a final heat sink to remove the decay heat from the nuclear reactor and the stored energy contained in structures in case of accident in the SMART plant. The PRHRS is a safety system designed with devices classified into safety levels considering a single failure. The PRHRS performance test using the VISTA-ITL is to test whether the PRHRS is operated properly when the reactor is shut down considering all the operating conditions of SMART plant. The steady-state PRHRS performance tests are divided into three conditions of 100% scaled power, 20% scaled power, and hot standby condition. The steady-state conditions were well operated to satisfy the initial test conditions presented in the test requirement and also its boundary conditions were properly simulated. The PRHRS’s natural circulation flow was formed as much as 10.1%, 11.7% and 9.1% for 100% scaled power, 20% scaled power, and hot standby condition, respectively. The experimental results show that PRHRS’s integrity and performance were well confirmed for those three conditions.

AIM: To investigate whether, or how, DA-9601, which is a new gastroprotective agent, inhibits TNF-α-induced inflammatory signals in gastric epithelial AGS cells. METHODS: Cell viability was determined by MTT assay. IL-8 and CCL20 promoter activities were determined by a luciferease reporter gene assay. NF-κB-dependent transcriptional activity was determined by I-κBαdegradation, NF-κB p65 nuclear translocation and a luciferase activity assay. IL-8 and CCL20 gene expression and protein secretion were determined by RT-PCR and an enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Total and phos-phorylated forms of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) were determined by Western blot. RESULTS: Treatment of AGS cells with DA-9601 reduced TNF-α-induced IL-8 and CCL20 promoter activities, as well as their gene expression and protein release. TNF-αalso induced NF-κB-dependent transcriptional activity in AGS cells. In contrast, in cells treated with DA-9601, TNF-α-induced NF-κB activity was significantly blocked. Although all three MAP kinase family members were phosphorylated in response to TNF-α, a selective inhibitor of p38 kinase SB203580 only could inhibit both NF-κB-dependent transcriptional activity and IL-8 and CCL20 production, suggesting a potential link between p38 kinase and NF-κB-dependent pathways in AGS cells. Interestingly, DA-9601 also selectively inhibited p38 kinase phosphorylation induced by TNF-α. CONCLUSION: DA-9601 blocked TNF-α-mediated inflammatory signals by potentially modulating the p38 kinase pathway and/or a signal leading to NF-κBdependent pathways in gastric epithelial cells.

比较中日韩三国相互直接投资趋势和对外商直接投资的限制水平发现,三国积极推进相互贸易与投资的目的在于实现互利共赢,而贸易投资促进过程中难免会遇到各种限制。从中日韩对外商直接投资规制限制指数看,中国外商直接投资限制水平指数最高,韩国居中,日本最低。中日韩在国家竞争力和投资限制水平方面存在一定差异,这种差异是三国贸易合作及中日韩自由贸易区建设中的重要影响因素。唯有克服这一障碍,才能有效推动中日韩经济合作以及中日韩自由贸易区的建设。

Indole-3-acetic acid （IAA）, a major plant auxin, is produced in both tryptophan-dependent and tryptophan-independent pathways. A major pathway in Arabidopsis thaliana generates IAA in two reactions from tryptophan. Step one converts tryptophan to indole-3-pyruvic acid （IPA） by tryptophan aminotransferases followed by a rate-limiting step converting IPA to IAA catalyzed by YUCCA proteins. We identified eight putative StYUC （Solanum tuberosum YUCCA） genes whose deduced amino acid sequences share 50%-70% identity with those of Arabidopsis YUCCA proteins. All include canonical, conserved YUCCA sequences： FATGY motif, FMO signature sequence, and FAD-binding and NADP-binding sequences. In addition, five genes were found with -50% amino acid sequence identity to Arabidopsis trypto-phan aminotransferases. Transgenic potato （Solanum tuberosum cv. Jowon） constitutively overexpressing Arabidopsis AtYUC6 displayed high-auxin phenotypes such as narrow downward-curled leaves, increased height, erect stature, and longevity. Transgenic potato plants overexpressing AtYUC6 showed enhanced drought tolerance based on reduced water loss. The phenotype was correlated with reduced levels of reactive oxygen species in leaves. The results suggest a func-tional YUCCA pathway of auxin biosynthesis in potato that may be exploited to alter plant responses to the environment.

Background and objective: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by progressive airflow limitation that is associated with an abnormal inflammatory response of the lung to noxious particles or gases. Cigarette smoking is the major risk factor for the development of COPD. This study evaluated the levels of cyclophilin B in sputa from patients with COPD and COPD with acute exacerbation (AECOPD). Materials and Methods: Two-dimensional electrophoresis was used for differential display proteomics. Western blotting was used to identify and quantify cyclophilin B in sputum from subjects with AECOPD and COPD. Results: Forty-nine protein spots differed in relative intensity between the AECOPD (n = 6) and COPD (n = 6) subjects. Twenty proteins showed increased expression in the sputum of AECOPD subjects, and 29 proteins were present at lower levels in AECOPD sputum compared with COPD sputum. One of these proteins was associated with cyclophilin B. Cyclophilin B concentrations were lower in sputum from subjects with COPD (n = 4) versus AECOPD (n = 4). Conclusion: The sputum proteomic analysis suggests that changes in various proteins are associated with the development of AECOPD.

Wall boiling and bubble population balance equations combined with a two-fluid model are employed to predict boiling two-phase flow in an inclined channel with downward- facing heated wall. For vertical flow, these models have been highlighted by the mechanistic formulation of bubble nucleation on a vertical heated wall by the bubble sliding and lift-off formulations. For downward-facing heated wall in an inclined channel, however, the bubble nucleation and departure behaviors are affected by the large bubbles near the heated wall as vapor accumulates near the upper wall of the inclined channel. In order to observe the boiling behavior on the inclined, downward-facing heated wall, a visualization experiment was carried out with a 100 mm x 100 mm of the cross section, one meter long rectangular channel, inclined by 10 o from the horizontal plane. The size of the heated wall was 50 mm by 750 mm and the heat flux was provided by the Joule heating of the heated wall using the DC electrical current. High speed video images showed the bubble nucleation and growth, sweeping of these bubbles by a large bubble sliding near the wall. For these circumstances of wall boiling and two-phase flow in the inclined channel, the existing wall boiling model encompassing bubble growth and sliding were modified by considering the influence of large bubbles near the heated wall. Using the model developed, boiling two-phase flow in a 3 m long, inclined channel with downward-facing heated wall was analyzed.

For an analysis of the oxidation behavior of UO2 nuclear fuel pellet under a loss of water coolant accident in a spent nuclear fuel pool of an LWR, thermodynamic assessments of UO2 oxidation were carried out under various atmospheric conditions. In a steam atmosphere, it was assessed that UO2 would not be fully oxidized into U3O8 due to the relatively lower oxygen partial pressure, while UO2 will be fully oxidized into U3O8 in an air atmosphere. In an air and steam mixture atmosphere, the UO2 oxidation was dominantly affected by the air volumetric fraction, because of the relatively higher oxygen partial pressure of air. In addition, the effect of H2 volumetric fraction on the oxygen partial pressure under a mixture atmosphere was calculated, and it was revealed that UO2 pellet oxidation could be reduced above the critical value of H2 volumetric fraction.

Interstitial lung disease （ILD） is a comprehensive term referring to a group of lung diseases affecting the interstitium of the lung. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis （IPF） is the most common idiopathic ILD, and nonspecific interstitial pneumonia （NSIP） is the second most common. As the name suggests, NSIP is diagnosed atter many other diseases are excluded. The main pathological finding in NSIP is homogeneous interstitial inflammation with or without fibrosis. NSIP can be categorized by cellular type or fibrotic type, according to the grade of inflammation and fibrosis. The cellular type has mostly inflammatory lesions with good responses to steroid, but the fibrotic type has a large proportion of fibrosis mixed with inflammatory lesions and a relatively poor response to steroid treatment So far, the exact mechanism underlying idiopathic lED has not been clarified. Determining key regulators of these ILDs will be helpful in the diagnosis and development of novel drugs for ILD.
