According to deplete natural resources and need to protect the environment,the demand of a usage of waste material has significantly *** studies are currently being carried out on the development of innovative and environmentally friendly materials for securing the safety of road users and improving the performance and durability of *** example,studies are currently being conducted on the use of waste tires as a substitute for currently used *** the development of the automobile industry,the amount of waste tire has continuously increased in accordance with the increased vehicle ***-derived fuel(TDF)has been used as a fuel source with generated TDF fly *** filler,made of fine mineral particles of a physical size passing the number 200 standard mesh sieve(75 micron),plays an important role in asphalt mixtures *** paper presents an application of TDF fly ash as filler in hot mix asphalt(HMA).In this study,the performance of TDF fly ash was confirmed through a comparison with three other mineral fillers:stone dust,cement,and hydrated *** tests including Marshall stability test,moisture sensitivity test,dynamic immersion test,and a wheel tracking test were performed to investigate the difference in the behaviors of the samples with different parameters considered in this *** results show that the mechanical performance of hot mix asphalt using TDF fly ash satisfied the quality standard specification of the Ministry of Land,Infrastructure and Transport(MOLIT),*** can be concluded that the use of TDF fly ash as a mineral filler in HMA not only satisfied the mechanical properties,but also reduced the volume of the pollutants waste in the environment.

Colonoscopy is a widely used method for diagnosing and treating colonic disease. The number of colonoscopies is increasing worldwide, and concerns about associated adverse events are growing. Large-scale studies using big data for post-colonoscopy complications have been reported. A colon perforation is a severe complication with a relatively high mortality rate. The perforation rate, as reported in large studies(≥ 50,000 colonoscopies) published since 2000, ranges from 0.005-0.085%. The trend in the overall perforation rate in the past 15 years has not changed significantly. Bleeding is a more common adverse event than perforation. Recent large studies(≥ 50,000 colonoscopies) have reported postcolonoscopy bleeding occurring in 0.001-0.687% of cases. Most studies about adverse events related to colonoscopy were performed in the West, and relatively few studies have been conducted in the East. The incidence of post-colonoscopy complications increases in elderly patients or patients with inflammatory bowel diseases. It is important to use a unified definition and refined data to overcome the limitations of previous studies. In addition, a structured training program for endoscopists and a systematic national management program are needed to reduce post-colonoscopy complications. In this review, we discuss the current trends in colonoscopy related to adverse events, as well as the challenges to be addressed through future research.

BACKGROUND Urinary tract infection(UTI)is one of the most common bacterial *** pyelonephritis or upper urinary tract infection is often accompanied by bacteremia;however,bacteremia resolves in most cases without ***,complications due to bacteremia *** of these is *** mainly affects the lumbar vertebral bodies,and rarely affects other *** SUMMARY An 80-year-old woman presented to the hospital with a two-month history of pain in both *** months ago,she was admitted to the hospital for fever,flank pain,and urinary frequency and was diagnosed with bacteremic *** hospitalization,she complained of pain in both legs;however,the pain resolved shortly after,and no abnormalities were observed on physical ***,she was placed on 2-wk antibiotic therapy for UTI without further evaluation for leg ***,pain recurred after discharge and persisted;therefore,an imaging test was *** scan and magnetic resonance imaging suggested osseous infection in both femurs,tibiae and *** treatment was performed,and tissue-and bone cultures revealed Escherichia coli,a previously observed pathogen,which demonstrated same antibiotic sensitivities,as noted in previous *** was diagnosed with disseminated osteomyelitis,as a complication of UTI,and was placed on an 8-wk antibiotic *** Indication for osteomyelitis should be high regardless of bone pain at sites other than lumbar spine after or during UTI.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a complex disease that is dually challenging to treat due to underlying chronic liver disease in addition to the cancer *** prognosis of patients with HCC is determined by intrahepatic tumor status and reserved hepatic *** B virus(HBV)is an established major risk factor of HCC development,and HBV viral load is being increasingly recognized as a prognostic factor in the presence of established *** HBV viral load may affect the prognosis of HBV-related HCC patients in several ***,it is associated with more frequent recurrence of HBV-related HCC after ***,it is associated with more occurrence and severity of potentially life-threatening HBV ***,it is associated with more worsened liver function,which limits the therapeutic options for HBV-related ***,directly or indirectly,can induce *** patients with a high HBV DNA level and subsequent active hepatitis,adhesion molecules expressed on the sinusoidal cells are up-regulated and may increase intrahepatic *** progression after treatment can lead to a poor prognosis by reducing number of normal functioning ***,high HBV viral load can affect the prognosis of patientswith HCC by frequent recurrence after treatment for HCC and deterioration of hepatic function associated with HCC *** meta-analysis showed that antiviral treatment reduces HCC recurrence and liver-related mortality after curative therapy of *** the strong relationship between high HBV DNA load and poor survival outcome of HCC patients due to cancer progression,it is expected that long-term antiviral therapy results in the sustained HBV suppression,control of inflammation,reduction in HCC progression,and eventually in improved overall survival.

Porous carbon has been applied for lithium-sulfur battery cathodes,and carbonized metal-organic framework(MOF)is advantageous in tuning the ***,we have systematically synthesized water-distorted MOF(WDM)derived porous carbon via controlling the proportion of both water in a mixed solvent(dimethylformamide and water)and ligand in MOF-5 precursors(metal and ligand),which is categorized by its morphology(*** stone(closed),Tassel(open)and Intermediate(semi-open)).For example,decrease in water and increase in ligand content induce Cracked stone WDMs which showed the highest specific surface area(2742-2990 m^(2)/g)and pore volume(2.81-3.28 cm^(3)/g)after *** effect of carbonized WDMs(CWDMs)on battery performance was examined by introducing electrolytes with different sulfur reduction mechanisms(***/DME and ACN_(2) LiTFSITTE):Closed framework effectively confines polysulfide,whereas open framework enhances electrolyte *** initial capacities of the batteries were in the following order:Cracked stone>Intermediate>Tassel for DOL/DME and Intermediate>Tassel>Cracked stone for ACN_(2) *** note,Intermediate CWDM exhibited the highest initial capacity and retained capacity after 100 cycles(1398 and 747 mAh/g)in ACN_(2) LiTFSI-TTE electrolyte having advantages from both open and closed *** sum,we could correlate cathode morphology(openness and pore structure)and electrolyte type(*** solubility)with lithium-sulfur battery performance.

This study investigates the characteristics of cold clouds and snowfall in both the Yeongdong coastal and mountainous regions under different meteorological conditions based on the integration of numerical modeling and three-hourly rawinsonde observations with snow crystal photographs for a snowfall event that occurred on 29−30 January *** found that rimed particles predominantly observed turned into dendrite particles in the latter period of the episode when the 850 hPa temperature decreased at the coastal site,whereas the snow crystal habits at the mountainous site were largely needle or rimed *** soundings showed a well-defined,two-layered cloud structure along with distinctive wind-directional shear,and an inversion in the equivalent potential temperature above the low-level cloud *** first experiment with a decrease in lower-layer temperature showed that the low-level cloud thickness was reduced to less than 1.5 km,and the accumulated precipitation was decreased by 87%compared with the control *** difference in precipitation amount between the single-layered experiment and control experiment(two-layered)was not so significant to attribute it to the effect of the seeder−feeder *** precipitation in the last experiment by weakening winddirectional shear was increased by 1.4 times greater than the control experiment specifically at the coastal site,with graupel particles accounting for the highest proportion(~62%).The current results would improve snowfall forecasts in complicated geographical environments such as Yeongdong in terms of snow crystal habit as well as snowfall amount in both time and space domains.

In this study,we attempt to improve the electromechanical performance of ionic polymer–metal composites(IPMCs)by developing high surface area Pd-Pt electrodes and tailoring the ionomer membrane *** proper electroless plating techniques,a high dispersion of palladium particles is achieved deep in the ionomer membrane,thereby increasing notably the interfacial surface area of *** membrane thickness is increased using 0.5 and 1 mm thick ionomer *** comparison,IPMCs with the same ionomer membranes,but conventional Pt electrodes,are also prepared and *** electromechanical,mechanoelectrical,electrochemical and mechanical properties of different IPMCs are characterized and *** electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray(SEM-EDS)is used to investigate the distribution of deposited electrode metals in the cross section of Pd-Pt *** experiments demonstrate that IPMCs assembled with millimeter thick ionomer membranes and newly developed Pd-Pt electrodes are superior in mechanoelectrical transduction,and show significantly higher blocking force compared to conventional type of *** blocking forces of more than 0.3 N were measured at 4V DC input,exceeding the force output of typical Nafion®117-based Pt IPMCs more than two orders of *** newly designed Pd-Pt IPMCs can be useful in more demanding applications,e.g.,in biomimetic underwater robotics,where high stress and drag forces are encountered.

Enhanced Stability of Anisotropic Gold Nanoparticles by Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)

A simple synthetic method has been described to prepare anisotropic gold nanoparticles （AuNPs） possessing unique optical and structural properties at room temperature, and subsequently the nanoparticles have been stabilized by temperature-sensitive poly（N-isopropylacrylamide）, or poly（NIPAM）. Although poly（NIPAM） does not exhibit a strong binding affinity to gold, simply introducing poly（NIPAM） to these unstable anisotropic AuNPs can maintain the original structures and absorption properties for several weeks. This increased stability is presumably caused by the adsorbed polymer layer around the anisotropic AuNPs. The existence of adsorbed linear poly（NIPAM） around the AuNPs is confirmed through the reversible absorption properties of the nanoparticles upon heating and cooling. To verify the presence of weak attractive forces （e.g., van der Waals, dipole-dipole, and possible hydrogen bonding） between the polymer and the AuNPs, various concentrations of linear poly（NIPAM） are introduced during the formation of the AuNPs resulting in the systematical control of the size and roughness of the nanoparticles. In addition, the preferential attachment of pre-formed anisotropic AuNPs on cross-linked poly（NIPAM） nanoparticles indicates the presence of weak attractive forces between AuNPs and poly（NIPAM）. As such, poly（NIPAM） and its derivatives can serve as a useful stabilizing and capping agent to preserve the properties of the anisotropic AuNPs.

The oxidation characteristics for Zircaloy-4 and Zirlo in the temperature range of 700-1200°C under steam supply condition were investigated by using a modified thermo-gravimetric *** specimens were oxidized for 3600 s at each temperature and then quenched in a *** oxidation rate constants were measured from the weight gains to evaluate the oxidation behavior in Zircaloy-4 and *** weight gain rates of Zirlo were lower than those of Zircaloy-4,leading to the low rate *** different oxidation behaviors between both cladding materials were considered to be due to the difference in their chemical compositions.
